spitfire had carbareter no injection thats why if pulled up to much it would cut out

That has got to be the best engine sound ever next to the DC-3 Dakota. Damn next upgrade for modern fighters is a speaker system with this sound to scare the enemy!!!

@MyVintageVictory At the begining just as the aeroplane comes into view the commentator on the tannoy says something like: "I think we have the Spitfire coming in now.....in it something J Harvey." Could be a reference to the pilot??

Excellent display demonstrating the close-haul capabilities of a Mk IXc Spitfire. At 5.47 he's turning that Spit on a dime!

Great maneuverability for an aircraft that also had a very decent top level speed of 410 mph and an excellent rate of climb and acceleration.

@chrisjeffsmusic no mate I hear what you're saying but it's definitely a Merlin, a Griffon is much deeper and gruffer than the crisp sound of the Merlin

@kiereemon yeah to be honest I can't actually pick the difference myself, I just thought I saw lumps on the nose of the aircraft, both engines sound incredible IMO
