  • Hmmm. Do you wish you went for the full keyboard, or does the polar suit you just fine? I love the look and size of yours but don't want to make the mistake of getting something too small....

  • @bryanfrigginblaak I have other 61-key keyboards that I can use to play the Polar when I want (via MIDI). I bought the Polar simply because I thought it looked cool. :)

  • Do you have monitors?

  • @EDDlEMEDUZA Yes. Event 20/20s and M-Audio BX5As.

  • @keybdwizrd since we're on the topic of monitors, what purpose do they serve? I'm very noobish so don't hate..

  • @MesoAsian Monitors are simply speakers that allow me to hear my synthesizers, audio recordings, etc.

  • i had to subscribe since i've never really seen out all the 100's of videos i've seen someone actually playing something nice on a synth before

    NICE!

  • MAKE SOM NOOOOOOOOOIIZZZZ

  • 3:50=80s hospital drama

  • @Utubesuxmycock with lyrics like "things will never be the same again, but i got you! i got you! i got you forever!"

  • @Utubesuxmycock I cannot stop laughing!

  • @Utubesuxmycock ROFL

  • I miss my virus ti. But the machine I replaced it with destroys it. Watch my latest live trance clip to see it

  • I am looking into an Access Virus Ti or a Polar.

What is the difference and is either worth one over the other?

  • @email4arthur The Polar is a Virus TI. The "keyboard" model has more keys than the Polar.

  • whats the price of it? :P

  • Virus TI polar, one of the best trance machine since JP8000 :)

  • @ussike30 Yes.

  • OUT OF ALL YOUR EXPERIENCE WITCH KEYBOARDS HAVE THE PHATTEST HEAVY SOUNDS THANKS

  • @JUKETASTRAFE Moog LP.

  • Song at 3:48. I never thought the Virus TI Polar could be so beautiful! I am going to check this synth out a little closer.

  • Great thanks :).

  • thanks for the upload. Im glad i sold mine! it was like a fragile immature 19 year old caked in fake tan, false eylashes the whole works next to my analog beauties.

  • What song do you start to play at 3.48?

  • @squeezemelover Just something improvised, like virtually everything in my videos.

  • @keybdwizrd i love it. it needs to made into a proper song. some kind of power synth pop ballad with a hint of prince. send me the tab and let me make it for you!

  • that thing looks like like the plugin nexus lol

  • at 2:50 i got wood

  • First chord progression you do reminds me of "Oh come all ye faithful" lol

  • awsome video's dude=) Love your arp 48 seconds in. sounds mint!!!!

  • Sounds really EuroTech

  • Whatever it it's, very, very nice. Thank you.

  • Thanks for doing this demo. Is the first bit you play ELP?

  • @itsthenoise No, it is not ELP. And by the way, I have many, many more Virus TI demos here on YouTube.

  • @keybdwizrd was it anything in particular? it was nice.

  • @Mannex17 Nope, just something I improvised.

  • Hi, I bought the Little Phatty based on your vids.. Moog should be paying you ;)

My question is, does this have reverb?

  • @InnerflamesUnLtd Yes, the TI has reverb, delay, distortion, phaser... lots of effects.

  • GOOOOOOOD

  • so is this basically a smalle version of the regular virus TI Kb or is it a watered down version? does it have everything the desktop and the large kb version do?

  • @TheDLovas Yes - all three are the same synthesizer, but with different numbers of keys.

  • @keybdwizrd ok, but then why bothe make the snow - it is just a smaller desktop version? or is it watered down.

  • @TheDLovas The Snow is somewhat watered down - for example, in multi and sequencer mode it can only do four sounds at once, whereas the regular TI instruments can do 16 sounds. It also comes with fewer presets in ROM (I don't know the exact specs). Lastly, it only has a few knobs, meaning that programming and tweaking mostly has to be done mostly via software, whereas the front panels of the regular TI's are a joy to fiddle with.

  • @keybdwizrd thanks this cleared things up

  • @TheDLovas its a smaller portable version, for like playing shows and stuff.

  • Is this the best Access Virus or are there more powerful versions?

  • 3:48 sounds great!

  • How much does one of these cost?

  • That's a bad-ass synth. I used to have the Access Virus Indigo 2, miss it...this new incarnation is so ridiculously expensive though. Great demo.

  • Hey I was wondering,im new to synths. I am in a band , and I need a keyboard that is the best for doing like vocal synth pads , like for background / atmospheric sounds to put in the back of our music any suggestions?

  • hi there , how are you, hopping all is well, thanks for the video clips, I am wondering if this is TI or TI 2 , and my question is if i have a chance to buy the Polar TI used half price ,is it worth it, or to buy a new one Polar TI 2 full price!, is it that difference e, can i update to OS 4 and get all the sounds..??

    many thanks

  • @khajub This is an original TI. Sorry, but I really don't know about the updates in the TI2.

  • @khajub you can update to OS4 and get all the sounds :) The difference is you'll get a bit less polyphony and "lose" a dedicated control on the front panel (actually a single LED that shows you're in the "others" section of the Effects)

  • @khajub

TI2 is not worth the update, it is just a little more processing power over the TI. But I doubt that almost anybody is using the full extent of the TI-power, to actually need to extra oomph of the TI2. Both have same features, support OS4 and can load the same sounds.

I got lucky though and got a TI2 desktop at 60% price secondhand.

Good fun :o), forget about the Snow, the full hands-on interface is almost as important as the sound itself.

  • Damn it's massive.. I'm probably gonna buy a hardware synth soon and since I can't afford this I'd like to know that can you even compare the possibilities of this synth to as example access virus b?

  • Question, this keyboard came out in 2004 right, its like an upgrade to the Indigo. Im thinking about buying one, how much are they now adays for one in good condition. Also if i get patches from like ebay will it go straight to to the keyboard by usb or flashdrive. lastly is it an easy keyboard to use i mean for a novice to make trance sounds?

  • Nice sound!!!!.... Welcome to neuronaluniverse

  • sounds great.

  • good machine for future pop and synthpop

  • nice sound!!

  • looks like a great little machine! I've wanted one ever since I heard the keys player from The Bravery play one. There are some really great sounds on it. One day I will have one when I have the money!

  • Sounds coming from the Virus TI/Polar are interesting and fit perfectly for trance because of the clearness and cleanness, but they are not warm at all. It's just way too clean to be called a Virtual Analogue.

    It's digital all the way.

  • Does the "showbiz mw" come with the polar? I am looking for a patch like that and my virus ti doesn´t have it..... :( Is it downloadable on access website? Thanks. By the way, SUPERB video!

  • @darknesslave I have downloaded a ton a patches from the Access website. Don't know where I got that one, but I know I edited it.

  • @keybdwizrd Thank you very much! I enjoy watching your vids :)

  • I dunno... If I walked into an alien spaceship... could this be the master navigation console?

    Beautiful!

  • Virus makes great virtual analogs, or digital sounding analog synths. I don't think one could compare the sound of a virus with an analog. But it does sound good. Good programing potential. With vsts like omnisphere, dcam synthsquad, largo, imposcar and monimonsta, I really can't justify getting a virus, as they are in the same ballpark qualitly wise, and offer a wide sonic range of sounds. But no doubt, access makes some great synths.

  • @nexusdawn When you can't justify purchasing the virus, think about the immense load your cpu is relieved from by not running the powerful VST's like DCAM synth squad. omnisphere or Minimonsta. Cuz damn when i didn't have my ti, CPU was popping all over the place.

  • I know why they called it Polar...it's so cold next to the warmth of your analogue synth demos.

  • event ps8's we have the same monitors...im thinking of switching to some newer mackies

  • Do you have any vids showcasing the Virus Polar arpeggiator? If not any plans for some?

  • I suppose i could do one of those in particular, although arpeggiated patches are sprinkled throughout all of these videos.

  • excellent. look forward to them.

  • @mimoocho

I agree, the arpeggiator on this thing sounds great - would love to see it featured as well

  • i really like that last part of the vid, do you have it in a full song kbwiz?

  • ya i have the S70xs and tickled pink about what it can do on the flly..... even faster than MOTIF......I like the virus sound........ but i really loved the NOVATION SUPERNOVA 2 sound.... im surprised you never owned an ALESIS ANDROMEDA...........

  • got any new boards lately?

  • No, and I'm actually in the process of selling off some of my gear. Indeed, many of the keyboards seen in my videos I no longer own.

Frankly, there hasn't been anything new that really interests me. I find that 95% of my music is made with my Yamaha Motif and Access Virus Polar.

  • The Virus Snow does NOT have the same capabilities as its keyboard cousins, nor does it match the desktop versions of the TI.

  • The TI Snow has the same sound, DACs and synth programming features as the bigger Access models, except that it has 4 parts instead of 16, reduced polyphony, only one hardware audio output (but additional audio streams through USB to the computer) and almost no knobs. But it sure has THAT Virus sound! If you want THAT sound at a low(er) cost go for it! Just be prepared to use it with a computer... a small trade-off, if you ask me.

  • It really is a lovely sounding synth. I would have one if I had the money. However, I think it is outgrowing the VA tag, it really doesn't sound like any of my old analogue gear....it is just too clear? clean? not sure exactly....I like a lot, no hating going on here.

  • @JockRonayne

'Virtual Analog Keyboard' sounds better marketing wise than 'Subtractive Synthesis Keyboard'...

I think 'analog' is just used to refer to using waveforms to make your sounds, rather than imitating actual analog sound.

  • Hey keywiz I was thinking of getting an Access TI Snow. Are these considered "true analog" like the Moog and Prophet. If not what's the diference? Thx for your great vids they are really helpful.

  • No its not analog - Its fully digital "virtual analog"

  • great demo. pro player!

  • Nice synth, but to expensive..

  • do u know why its called virus? because it has beautiful sounds and once u hear them u get infected by the virus and u cant let go :D

  • im glad you think my question is retarded.

    NICE>

I was talking about FILTERS........ BUT I WONT go any further. cause im retarted

  • drumma boy uses one

  • the sound on 4 minutes looks like the sound of Mario64 when he goes in the underwater level lol:) but a beautiful synth im gonna buy one i think

  • what is the difference between the VIRUS TI2 and the VIRUS TI2 POLAR ?

  • Polar is white and doesn't have as many keys

  • Great observation ;)

  • Well... there's really nothing different about the sound capability between both of them...

  • The ti is nice BUT you can do the same thing with propellerheads (dot) se

  • @jettero1 Seriously dude, if you hear reason as the same as the Virus, you really are tone deaf.

  • dude virus ROCKS for pads etc. i have a new polar like here, forget about it any sound you want dont get fucked up about analog v virtual go for it

  • access anti virus

  • I think they're very good. FYI, this is the first of MANY videos I've made demoing the Virus TI. Lots of pads featured in those vids.

  • why cant YAMAHA ROLAND OR KORG come up with synths that sound like this?

  • Because every synth sounds different. And we should be happy about that! Dull world if all synths sounded the same!

Now personally, i think the Roland V-Synth GT is THE best sounding synth.

    And the Virus Ti's a close 2nd.

But really even the cheapest synth has its justification, since it might have just the sound you want/need. For instance i'm very happy with my Roland SH-201 - cheap, easy to use, and sounds great.

  • why should yamaha/roland/korg come with something that sounds liek a virus, mystic radio? that is a very retarded question. i can ask the same thing: why can't virus have one decent piano, guitar or string/horn sample? why doesn't virus have builtin internal sequencer and other goodies, why doesn't virus have a big color or touchscreen?

what virus lacks, the others have; what others lack (3+1 subosc) analog modeling, the virus has it.

  • and many times i prefer the huge, polished expansive sound of korg for pads, basses, sweeps. i normally use virus only for the cutoff sweeps.

  • the last one is beautiful...

  • Ever notice how people with short stubby fingers (like me) are really good at things with their hands? I.E. Guitar, piano, typing, other musical instruments.

  • Agree, I can extend my hand from C to the F one octave above and I am not a good player.

  • Same, I have really big hands. -_- Im pretty good at gutiar and piano though...

  • liked the last one,,,,

  • Mike Shinoda uses this for New Divide? Tell me if im wrong ;)?

  • I was wondering if you know anything about the Korg Radias and how it compares to the Virus Ti Polar. I really like both synths, and I am very influenced by the music of both The Prodigy and Pendulum. How do you think both synths compare?

  • I have never owned a Radias. But understand that much of the cost of the TI has to do with the fact that it is truly like having 16 synthesizers in one box - in MULTI mode it can do 16 sounds simultaneously, and it also has 16 completely discrete multi-efx processors. This is tremendously useful when doing MIDI sequencing. I don't know specs on the Radias, but I doubt that they compare. It all depends upon what features/sounds are important to you.

  • In my opinion, the Virus is much gentler- in a good way. I'd go with a Radias for harsh or bright music, but a Virus for mellow or dark music

  • disscoco biscuits

  • TI Polar has outstanding sounds. I just couldn't get used to that small keyboard though. Sold it just a couple weeks after I bought it.

  • Of course there is a 61-key version...

  • How is this one compared to a nord lead 2x ???

  • im also thinking about geting this, or a nord lead 2x, i think i will get the full sized ti

  • Sorry, but no.

Unlike the Korg MS2000, the Virus TI is 16-part multi-timbral, with a complete set of multi-effects for each of the 16 parts. This means that the TI can play up to 16 different sounds at the same time, and each of the 16 sounds can have its own dedicated reverb, delay, phaser, chorus, EQ, etc. So it is actually like having 16 complete synthesizers and 16 complete effects units - all in one box. As such, IMHO, it should actually cost much more than it does.

  • I should add that not only is the MS2000 limited to one sound at a time, but as I recall it can only play four notes at a time. I think has a basic onboard sequencer, but the Virus TI has 16 simultaneous arpgeggiators.

    These are very differrent instruments.

  • Looks kindda like a bass keyboard.

  • Its good but is it really worth £1800? I have heard softsynths that are able to sound not to dissimilar and combine that with some cheap hardware and you effectively have this. Play me a sound that I can't get in software?

  • See my response to buzzsaw1003 below.

  • I will never buy another synth that dont have a joy stick Roland does these best...I dont like modge wheels they are cumborsome. to the touch.

  • I used to be just like you.. never wanted anything with wheels.. but what can you do if some of the greatest machines have wheels? .. :)

  • that is true... but then the virus can distinctive character not found on any other synth let alone vst ....vsts are remarkable these days and i doubt anyone listening could care less about the subtle differences in fact there is this old argument about fatness which is completely antiquated and i wish would disperse with the bloody vinyl nonsense. In the end of the day the majority of your audience wont know or care what synth you use....its about the music not the tools used

    peace

    brian

  • great man!!!

  • Its one of my biggest dream to get a synth from Virus some day...

    Great Video

  • the TI orginal is sooo much better!!!!

  • how so?

  • Just has more key notes and is so much cooler :p

  • cooler looking? haha so its just about the looks ...i personally like both aesthetically but the extra octave (?)

is definatly more appealing than some of the new effects

    for me at atleast

    peace

    brian

  • i wish i had a Virus TI Polar

  • Access Virus T1 really has the phattest synths out there. PluxOR VS at 3:48 is the perfect example how tap delay with twinkling and sub work together. Kind of like a great mystic dream.

  • the deep bass lead @ 2:35 is massive ^^

  • i have an animal of a biscuit tin, oh yeah and i own all of these and it aint the instrument baby

  • great keyboard

  • i wanna make trance with that!!!!!!

  • First of all, thanks for sharing this Synths demos.

I'm starting a Progressive Metal band and i'm now deciding what synth to buy. My last two options are the Nord Lead 2X and the Access Virus TI2. What do you think can be better for my needs? The aim is basically leads like for example Sonata Arctica - Don't Say Word (and pads)

  • well, the Nord is a bit cheaper as far as I know. apart from that, both sound is unique, so I would recommend going into an instrument store, and play around with both. I would choose Nord, but little things can decide which is better for you, so it's better to try. it's not a 2 cents question is it. ;-)

  • Today i'll go try both of them. By now the problem on the Nord is the keyboard, and on the Virus the problem seems to be the instability of the software... lets see. I'll put my impressions here.

  • Finally i tried both of them. In both cases if i had to choose for a version i'd go for the rack one. In both cases the keyboard is really bad (i'm a pianist and i'm used to use 88 keys Kurzweil keyboards). About the synths, my best impression was for the Nord Lead 2X. Virus wasn't what was i expected. NL2X was a first sight love and really easy to use VA Synth. The sound is simply great. Next week i'll give another chance to the Virus trying it again, but i think i'll go for the NL2X.

  • you don't need a synth of this power for sonata arctica stuff. the dude just uses a korg karma. get something equivalent, hell, even a korg x50 would do the trick. this for for true analogy bands, like prog or ebm!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for sharing. I, too, own a Virus TI PØlar. The true beauty and power in this machine can be found beyond its patches. Therefore, a "demo" consisting ONLY of someone rocking out with presets is not a true representation of what this synth can do. Starting from an initial waveform and designing the sound is what synthesis really is. Otherwise, anyone can tweak a couple knobs.

  • The purpose here is to show people what this synth sounds like "out of the box." And with 4,000+ presets, there is plenty to showcase, especially since many people (including myself) care to spend the majority of time playing syntheszers instead of programming them. But indeed, everyone is allowed their own point of view, and I look forward to your videos.

  • How long did it take to find that ø in Character Palette? lol

  • probably about as long as it took you...

  • virus is too overpriced for a VA.

  • Perhaps, but when you consider that it is 16-part multi-timbral with completely independent multi effects for each of the 16 parts, well, it's truly like having 16 synths in one box.

  • The ION costs less than half as much..and offers 16 filters, 3 oscillators, parallel filters, vocoder, and much more.

Furthermore, it's the warmest and most convincing VA on the market.

    Reeno

  • While people debate endlessly the pros and cons of Moogs vs Andromedas and Prophets vs VAs, I personally wonder how many people could actually tell the difference between all of these synths in a blind listening test. :)

  • Great argument

  • I can pick a moog out by its filter pretty easily and I'm no aficionado but yeah the differences can be small but yet still important, like using a telecaster instead of an e355 or les paul. similar but important differences..

  • you're so right!. I will get my andromeda tomorrow and already have a Virus TI2... will be a dreamcombo :)

  • oh shit hahahha thats awesome

  • If you want to pick one up, the time is now. I just scored a desktop used on Ebay for relatively cheap. I think with the economic downturn, people are unloading "unnecessary items".

  • 1:59 <----

  • Awsome. Thank you.

  • I have a Virus TI Snow and was wondering if I can route a guitar through it like you can with the full blown Viruses. It has two inputs and an input follower option in the menu. Does anybody know for sure?

  • hey u got baby hands man!! hahaha nice vid...

  • Damn man, you can really play!

i want one of these lol, but $3,500 canadian is a massive amount of cash!

  • hey man Im a hard trance producer, do you reckon the virus ti snow would be of any use to me?

  • What's the best Synth to get?? I have FL Studio, I just want a good all purpose one, mainly for Electro-House

  • its no Moog, thats for sure...too slick and digital...

  • Its all in how your program it. I have a Moog and a Virus Ti polar. The factory patches for the most part are geared twards Techno / House and are slick and digital- does not sound like a Moog. As soon as you begin to program your own patches, all of this changes :-) It actually has the best VA moog filter emulation I have ever heard and really does a great CS-80 also, but you need to understand how to program it properly to accomplish this.

  • A Moog is no Andromeda.

  • Exactly.

  • But an Andromeda can be a Moog. :)

  • No it cant.

  • Soundwise, yes.

  • ummm...not quite.

Actually the ION is better sounding than the andromeda.

    J.

  • rofl....as far as I know the ION is not even analog. What kind of a stupid comparison is that?

Besides, he's right - an Andromeda can, soundwise, definitely be moogish. A german review revealed that the sound difference between Andromeda and MiniMOOG ist just like the difference from one MiniMOOG to another.

  • it's a powerhouse no doubt. i'm not crazy about it's sound though. a bit too digital to my taste and too many fx layers to make it sound good.

  • hey if i want to make trance, Particularly Psytrance, and i plan on using a computer to mix and actually compose the songs on, what would be the ideal synth to get on which i could make basslines, drums, hats, synth and effects on and i could just upload the sounds or loops onto the computer and lay it on the timeline in there?

  • i love the knobs.. at 3:00 it sounds like some badass pink floyd..

  • Your midi songs from the old days are fucking amazing

  • thanks

  • Thanks for the demo Willow. I definitely need one of these beast :)

  • his synth isnt worth over a thousand dollars :/

my r3 can pull these sounds off in a little tweak, but nice tunes though :)

  • A huge difference is that the TI can run in 16-part multi-timbral mode, able to play 16 different patches simultaneously, and each patch can have its own arpeggiator and complete multi-fx, including reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, three-band EQ, distortion, etc. So this capability contributes to its price, as the TI is like having 16 separate synthesizers all in one box.
