Shadow, form, light -all in harmony.Gary is transforming an otherwise static subject, the circle -which, is not really static... into energy while maintaining it within the frame He maintains the circle in the composition allowing the viewer to observe a static element , "in flux " i.e. it's concentric rings emanating outward .It's miracles of sight like this that take place everyday ,all around us. An Arriflex is not required ...Gary proved that beautifully.
This guy has been in more movies than any actor could hope for. He's up there with Anthony Hopkins, Dustin Hoffman, and Christian Bale as far as versatility... And as far as film-making, well... have you seen this^^?
2. as a parody, he knew people would try to find some deep meaning in it when in fact it is just a shadow (it is cool looking though). its a bit like modern art, some is actually meaningful and some looks like a 3 year old could do it. i believe he was picking fun at the latter.
3. but who knows, he is a genius actor though and good as a director too.
for some reason i feel gary made this as a joke so people would look at it and thing theres a deep meaning when its all just good silly fun, but maybe i'm saying that cause i don't understand it.
Ironic I think that he made this movie to demonstrate the superior quality of Nokia image recording and yet in You tube where most people will see it - it was all pixelated and crappy.
This movie touched me both emotionally and spiritually. It worked on so many different levels and had a deeper meaning that can be understood in every viewer's heart...
If you think this video "FUCKIN ROCKED!" and were serious, then you must be the most pretentious person on earth! I mean, c'mon! PS. I love Gary Oldman, but this video did not rock!

ok, i don't get this:) what would make it really cool would be like this monster to pop up in the last two seconds. it'd scare the shit out of ppl and make it more interesting:) this donut is just....:-? how should i put it? pointless is one. oh, and he seemed to seriously lack ideas. I rly rly rly like gary oldman but, call me crazy, this time his subtlety is too much for simple old me:)

I love Gary Oldman...but that was shit. Honestly, there was no merit to that. You can try and BS that that is somehow art...but it's not. It is total shit and fucking pointless. You're an idiot if you read anything into that. I'm just sorry 23K people have been subjected to that over a Gary Oldman tag.

WTF!!! The guy just wanted to cash the big paycheck from Nokia! He's like: "D'uh... I wanna get the money but I don't want to get my ass up from this chair by my 50k $ pool. I'll just shoot some sh*t for 2 mins and put in some sweet music".
Watch "Senza Titolo"! A REAL short movie shot with a Nokia. With no sponsor. Thanks.
PS I do love Gary Oldman, but this time he really dissapointed me.
It's like a focus mark. looking at the water and the ripples around it. Like the media's view point. The media focuses on a small fraction of what's in the world and here's what the media won't show you. the truth. then again, maybe it's not the media. maybe it's our perception of the world around us and our eye we filter ourselves. Long story short. it's a big world out there, we can only see so much.
An art historian posting an opinion-God save us-I'm poolside, lost in thought-thoughts travel up hill and down dale-light reflected in the opposite-peaks are dark while the valley is swathed in light-the leaf blows across to give focus-memory returns, pinpointing the promise before it once again slides from rational thought-or just donuts to sit on?
Gary, I loved it. Thought it was very peaceful and somehow.. touching. Reminded me of some sad, lonely moments I had by a pool as a little girl. Felt myself swriling with the water.. the sounds were great.

Gary: Nokia gave me this phone for free but I have to film something with it.
Other: What are you going to film? You're not filming me!
Gary: I've had it a month, they keep phoning me, I have to give them something or they'll want the phone back.
Other: That sucks. Film the pool.
Gary: I can't film the pool. It's boring.
Other: They'll think you're being arty.
Gary: They'll think I'm taking the piss.
LATER THAT DAY
Other: What are you doing?
Gary: I'm filming the pool.
