ASYLUM SEEKERS IN IRELAND CAUGHT 'ASYLUM SHOPPING'
243 Asylum seekers were transferred to other EU states after being caught 'asylum shopping' where they looked for refugee status in 2 or more countries.
40 failed asylum seekers were deported last night, a further 202 opted for help in returning home voluntarily rather than being removed.

and there's no such thing as bogus asylum seekers, they say you are racist for saying so...
obviously not reeling in the years but think this was just after the point gig in Dublin when they were HUGE!!! Definetely Maybe Rocked...Whats the story... Hmm...Everything after...Yawn.
The interview wasn't infamous...the gig the night before was infamous.
Liam didn't show up because he had a throat infection. Noel stepped up and sang the whole 100 minute show complete with an acoustic set. Apparently is was a brilliant night anyways.
To be fair, the description says "After a gig in Dublin's Point Depot, Noel Gallagher makes an infamous appearance on the Late Late Show..." infamous appearance not infamous gig so I have no idea why you're replying to my comment.
I know...I understand what you mean...it isn't a very good description in the description. But I think that the fact that he did this interview right after THAT gig is why this person thinks that it is infamous...I agree with you that the it's not really a great description.
You just seemed genuinely puzzled about why he even attached infamous to the clip...so I thought I would enlighten you to the reason. Wasn't sure if you realized the significance of the night before...sorry if you did.
The Oasis show was filmed in England and I'm aware this is an Irish Talk Show that doesn't back up you're point at all and anyway it's this interview that was considered infamous as it says in the video .Pretty sure it would have been talked about in the interview if Noel had of sang the whole set the night before and why would they play an acoustic set anyway?I can't find any information on these events so I can only conclude that you're thinking of MTV Unplugged.
Check out the whole interview...it's in the related videos called "Noel Gallagher 1 - Late Late Show 1996" This video has been edited by the maker from the original version. I'll take your point about MTV Unplugged. But it was probably done in London...and this is filmed in Dublin.
In the full interview he specifically says that he just came from the Pointe.
I know the story about MTV...why the hell would I get it mixed up with a Dublin gig?
Also the description is wrong this interview was done immediately after the show earlier that night and there was controversy around Noel appearing to be high during the interview.Look for the full interview.
Why do you keep talkin about the gig the night before there wasn't one.And of course a big star appearing on t.v. high is going to cause a stir especially in 90's Ireland. Why would it say infamous interview refering to a gig the night before that's stupid.Unless you can provide a link to where you got your information then I'm assuming you're wrong cause I'm an Irish Oasis fan and I've never heard of Liam cancelling a show here.Liam cancelled Unplugged 96 due to throat infection.
Yeah just checked 97 and there was one where Liam didn't play.Their drug usage wasn't a secret but believe me it would cause a stir. For example a man once appeared on the Late Late Show drunk(the show Noel is on here) and it caused alot of controversy and he was eventually kicked off the show.
hmm...that is so wierd...I guess things were even more conservative back then. I guess it's just 'cause I have seen Noel WAY more off it on various other interviews around about this time.
Never watched this show though...is it kind of a conservative audience?
I remember being at the gig that nite, he was right, it was mind blowing! Saw this interview when me and me mate got home. Was at the second nite too, crowd nearly took the roof off. Cheers for uploading, almost brought a tear to my eye lol
I remember this interview well. Back in the 90s I was obsessed with Oasis :-)

Fair enough mate, I was only a young lad at the time so didn't understand the significance of the previous night. Appreciate being informed.

you're getting confused with mtv unplugged
wertyui123456789 2 years ago
No, I'm not...research it a bit. It takes a bit of digging though
Google 'Oasis Dublin's Point Depot 1996' and a news article or review of the show might pop up.
It went exactly as I said...at least officially...I did check my facts before posting.
Besides...this is an Irish Talk Show...the gig they are talking about was the night before...and MTV Unplugged is out of the US

oasis played 2 or 3 gigs this year and liam did 1 and pulled out with a sore throat after it so noel did the next gig himself
tommybno3 2 years ago
You know what...I think I maybe mixed-up the 1997 gig with the '96 gig at the Pointe.
It was at the '96 gig was the infamous one were Tommy Gallagher was brought to meet Liam and Noel. So possibly that is why this is infamous?
I don't believe the whole, "because he appeared high thing" It was never really a secret with Oasis was it?
But I do know that there was a Dublin Pointe Depot gig that Noel sang alone
