  • Any suggestions on how I can Stop Flipping my Hand Over on the opposite side where the 3rd beat happens? ARRRRGH! I get a few sets out and then I regress to the 'palm down' position. It only seems to happen with my non-dominant hand (:-/ of course). I've practiced over & over without the second hoop to load the data into my brain... then 'poof' it's gone.

  • wow! so helpful thankyou

    im trying to learn this:)

  • i have watched your forward 3 beat weave a billion times before it clicked..now i am trying to get this backwards one and this tutorial is something i watch a lot..hopefully it won't take months like the forward one did lol..and thank you so much for posting from all angles and in slow motion..you rock !

  • BRAVO!!

  • very nice hooping tutorial, thank you so much!!

  • This makes me dizzy o.O

  • U r finr hopesares .i want towork with u.

    i m on;lly one hoopesaaster inmy cntrly.have a school of hoop

  • Gorgeous! very nice! thank you so much

  • Very well done! I love poi dancing with hoops! Great job! and good weaving! :D

  • oh wow, awesome! You are so good! It looks so pretty and relaxing in nature... Lovely music too.

For now, I myself am only hooping with one hoop but hope to start with more in the future...

Keep hooping in the sunshine! :)

  • ooh never thought to do the 3 beat weave with hoops, must try it, i use poi

  • Thank you! This has been kicking my ass. Now I'm just trying to figure how to cross this over into the forward three beat.

  • oh... how often did i try this with poi, and how often did i hit my face with them until i got it?

at least, now it works^^ have to get some hoops, too... seems like really many moves from poi could be done with hoops, and maybe its possible the other way round, too.

did you try a turn from reverse 3 beat weave to forward and back to reverse? i dont know if it works with hoops, its really fun with poi. you can just go round and round and round, and the poi/hoops fly around

  • Yeah, it can be painful learning with hoops too... and lots of running after them! :)

Thanks for the suggestion about turning between 3 beat weaves! I had done that with regular weaves, but hadn't tried with the 3 beat weaves. It is a fun challenge! My arms are getting sore though....

  • thats one good thing with poi... as long as they are light, you only get sore hands ;)

anyway, pls msg me when you got it with hoops, i really wanna see that.

  • Yes, I think this WILL help! It will take me time, and many running-back-to-watch-the-video trips, but your visual "explanation" (complete with the slow-motion sections) is very clear. Thank you!

  • I'm still trying to get this!!!! if I don't by summer...I'm going to come to your hometown and pay for a lesson! its driving me NUTS!!!!!!!!

  • and the music really is gorgeous!

  • Hey totallycrunchy & Suibom,

Thanks for the replies, glad it may be of help! I watched Barry's video again & he does something slightly different than me as the hoop crosses over....so hopefully I am even doing it right in the video!! ?

Sui, you are magic with the fire poi, I am just learning to spin them so thanks for the inspiration!

  • Very nice! It's good to see someone finally cracking that sucker. I've seen more than a few attempts at folks trying to figure that movement out.

    Peace,

    - Sui

  • Thank you Amy!!! My hubby and I have been trying to figure this out for months now. I think like Groovinmegzz I'll be watching this and pausing and watching over and over. You rock! Thanks!

  • Thanks for the feedback on the video, all! I am glad it seems to be helpful! It took SO long to teach myself that I thought it'd be nice to try and help other hoopers avoid the time & frustration I wasted on figuring it out mostly on my own! :-) But I couldn't have figured it out if it weren't for Barry Clements video, "More poi style hooping". Thanks, Barry!

  • This is wonderful, the slow motion and different angles help so much Thank You!

  • You have no idea how much you have helped me! Thank you for taking the time to do this- I have been searching everywhere for a tutorial.

    Thanks again, and again!

  • S.W.E.E.T.N.E.S.S.

    i love you for this!

  • yay!!! you should see me. I'm watching 30 secs. pausing...running over grabbing hoops. Trying it..come back..pressing play...and its a cycle.

    Thanks! <3

  • brilliant, thank you Amy, you are a super star.
