What an extraordinary landscape! Quite unlike anything I've ever seen (being from cosy southern England!). Wonderful mood pictures to go with the great man's music. Watch this late at night with the lights off - and let your imagination do the rest. Two great talents in harmony..
I went looking for Poke Salad Annie and discovered all this stuff he had done over the years! He's just great, so honest and you know HE ORIGINATED THIS SOUND. "Swamp Rock", so many imitators including Dire Straits. I have been looking for this sound for years I knew it was out there.
I love it warts and all, the lack of 'perfection' makes him so different. His peak moments are really high and the cornball moments win you over with their humor.
Please, does anybody have Monument SLP-18142, with last song on side b, obviously an impromptu studio jam of ""Boom Boom Boom Boom" w/ TJ, Flood (on the B-3), and fellow session players just grooving while the 2 " spooled out. Haven't heard it pop free ever cause every used copy I find has that song ground flat from obvious repeated play. Awesome Swamp!!!
@Cantshaketheseblues hope to catch him live one day, i can imagine the chills on my neck as he takes the stage, the last 2 shows ive seen where you know your in the presence of greatness, was , ronnie earle, and johnny a. ,after one number you could see the collective wow on peoples faces
Love it ... back to basics, where it matters :-)
