THIS WAS MY THEME SONG!!!! THIS IS IT! REAL RAP MUSIC THAT JUST HAPPEN TO GOT LOST! COLD187UM WAS ONE OF THE COLDEST LYRICIST OF OUR TIME. AND K.M.G. MAN. IT'S LIKE THEY WAS EIGHTBALL AND MJG BEFORE THEY TIME. THEY TAUGHT YOU SOMETHING. NO I'M DRIVING THIS AND MY WATCH IS THAT. A CLASSIC!!! I LOVE THIS GROUP!!1
Black mafia Life and the Chronic are classics. BUT. BML is more so. BML is such that it's a tight album that's underground. If your not a hip-hop head you have no idea. Dre was avail on any sam goody!
Fool. Rappers were sampling parliament funkadelic YEARS before ATL and The Chronic. ATL's only claim is that they pioneered the g-funk sound but for that matter, so did X-Clan who sampled 'Knee-deep' years before.
What happened is that Cold-187um got butthurt after ATL was dropped by Sony Epic and blamed it on Dr Dre.
The truth is that Epic heard the early releases of 'Black mafia life' and knew, immediately, that it was another mediocre, clinton-sampling, record. Epic knew and dropped ATL.
..but to be honest.. ATL Black Mafia Life came out many months before the Chronic.. and it's interesting how The Chronic sounded like it took a lot of influence from ATL's joint!
my man..! I did not say "borrowed".. I said influenced.. ! all I am saying is that sample for sample, bar for bar, some of the Chronic sounded like B.M.L. which came out earlier that year! Yeah everybody sampled from Parliment but hey, they aint have just 3 or 4 songs..! I mean a lot of people sampled James Brown, but not always the same song or 4/4 bar loop..!
While i respect your reason to respond as much as you have in this video post, I just wonder what do you gain from it? You win, ok?
@stewxl Get your shit straight, The Chronic came out in December 1992 while Black Mafia Life came out in February 1993. That's two months difference. They might have conflicted about the idea when both in Ruthless but Dre was the fast worker here. Not to mention, his use of g-funk is much more polished and the work of a pro than Cold 187um's on BML. Now on Uncle Sam's Curse, there Cold perfected his craft as a g-funk producer.
Maaaaaan, I miss my damn ATL tape!! LOL Yeah I said tape! But give me the CD and I'm on the playa stroll down 3-8, Naptown style baby! They don't know bout this one! Did you know that "Whooa, Lawd!" came from Bill Cosby's show from the '70's?

Sorry, Black Mafia Life was their third album. Listen to that and you'll hear the real beginning of G-Funk
jarheaded1976 3 years ago 2
Pffft whatever. That album was just a bunch of Parliament Funkadelic samples and that's it. G-Funk wasn't just sampling old George Clinton material.

Ya but thats how it started, so do us a favor and stfu TLAGT. lol
Thanks for the heads up jarhead

everyone was already sampling old p-funk.
To say that Dr Dre borrowed from ATL is similar to saying that Microsoft stole from Apple, even though both stole from Xerox.
