hey i own a mazdaspeed 3. i have raced alot of cars and i do lose to sti's sometimes but when they are fully modded not stock or close to stock. my car has a cobb intake, mount,bov and one cat removed thats it. and i pull good on stock sti's. i raced an 05 that had stage two tune, complete turbo back, and intake with three people in the car and only lost by a car. that was from a 45 roll and i stayed in third gear

also if you look at the weight of the two vehicles compared to what they put down at the wheels you would be surprised to see how much the subie loses through drivetrain. however from a dig to about 100 the sti if lightly modded would prolly win. if you launch those cars around 4k rpm's they take off real good. at the quarter though the two are about dead even.

@olgaa30 probably because of the power the sti loses at higher speeds due to its awd... takes a lot more power to run 4 wheels than 2, and in a 1/4 mile your reaching 100mph when on the freeway you can hit 150's although rare, i dont know many people who race at top speed

sorry my... but it is not, stock ms3 acelerate 0 100 in 5.6s. and RS is 5.9s. mazda is 24,000dls and RS is 38,000.dls i have a MS3 with fujita CAI+28hp catback+18hp intercoller hks+12hp, downpipe and racepipe greddy giving me impresive+40hp. and a tunned westgate whith stock turbo upgraded from 15.5psi to 18.5psi giving me a little more of 350 fwhp. all of this shits cost me arround 1,700dls very very cheap for all this horses down my hood,

MS3 have a nice power stock... but all that power is put in to the front wheels making a horrible steer torque at launched.... and the new MS3 look so ridiculous with its smiley bumper..

do a little research. Trap speeds are far higher on the speed 3, so from a roll its easy to see that it would rape an evo x, stock for stock. Weight and AWD drivetrain loss make a stock evo slow in a straight line.

Look at my youtube channel, i own a DSM. If anything i'm biased towards Mitsu, but the fact is it's the slower car.

My friend's barely modded (short ram and test pipe) speed 3 traps 104 and put down 265whp on a 95 degree day. They're quick, torquey little cars. I'm guessing you haven't even driven one.

Just so we're on the same page here, we ARE talking about STOCK aren't we? An intake(short ram or CAI) & test pipe is NOT stock. Not even close. Not on ANY turbo car.

An intake will give you like 15-20hp on average with about the same amount of torque on an 1st gen while giving you about 10 more hp/tq on a 2nd gen.

Testpipe, another 10-20 depending on your supporting mods.

And btw, I have a couple of friends with Mazdaspeed 3s(1st gens) and they are modded.

Well, the Short ram is only about a 10hp gain, unlike the full CAI which is over 20 on that car. Also, he has the stock catted downpipe, just the secondary cat has been removed. This is also only good for 10-15hp. He's probably making 25whp over stock, which would mean 240 stock. Thats about the same as the evoX, in a car that weighs a few hundred lbs less, hence the higher trap speeds of the mazda.
