Bill Gates predicted this in his "road ahead video" circa 1995 ... his video shows a device he called a digital wallet that we would be using by 2010. This was a mind blowing concept in 1995.. how close he was.
For those wanting a mobile wallet, but not on Sprint and don't have a Nexus S or nfc-enabled phone, then check out the moneto mobile wallet. With moneto, you are free to be on more networks and phones...visit us to learn more: moneto.me
I think I'll stick to cash & plastic cards, thank you... I would feel like a total douche, whipping my iphone out to pay for every single thing, snap QR codes, etc.
Notice how virtually everything being paid for in this video is an impulsive purchase!
@karttikeya1267 not really... if you loose your credit card and you don't cancel it, some one could just spend all the money on your bank account... so i think that's more important than the information you could have in the cellphone
You're screwed if you lose your phone BUT you are screwed NOW if you lose your wallet/card so not much difference. The main worry would be servers going down and also the life of smartphone batteries now is abysmal.
@89mattyUK A step closer to the RFID microchip implanted in your hand so later you dont need to look at the phone or loose your details. The information can then be accessed by any device in the shop, not even requiring you to own one. The monetary system and Big Government must go! In europe, new RFID cards are already a reality. taxes and austerity measure are so high its hard just to live by to pay taxes or petrol! Money should be a versatile tool, but never our enslaver! IMO
@gwar10ck You dont really have long enough to charge your phone while paying but its a pretty good idea! Maybe if coffee shops etc had charging stations then you could keep the battery up while shopping etc.
what can you do if you lose your phone and the only way for you to call anybody is tru that phone and your internet just died because you cant pay it...because you need your...phone.........and you have no cash...because you have the...phone..i rather lose one thing than to lose everything at once..its convenient but i like have a wad of paper in my pocket and the jingle of coins when im drunk looking for a taxi.:)
This is awesome; provided, I carry my phone charger along

@89mattyUK easiest to solve battery problem would be chargers near every pay poin, in case your phone is dead.
