  • lea salonga's version is better than yours

  • Very nice song and nice video! Smile!

  • Looking at the phantom of the Opera from a different angle. I like it. It's as if Christine loves living in this dream world with the phantom, and feels alone without it. Which is probably true.

  • This is by far the best version of On My Own in my opinion. Frances Ruffelle is amazing! Maybe it is because it was the first one I knew, but I just love the way she sings it - I find some of the later versions to be too forceful.

  • how can i see this real scenes.?. i mean all the episodes.. is this a movie? hehehe.. really want to see it... please someone tell me.. thank u

  • @PebbleMae This is indeed a movie. It's called The phantom of the opera and this is the 2004 version.I don't know where you can see it online, but you can definetly rent it.

  • From @1:05 -> i like it!<3

  • I like!!!!!!!!

  • this is brilliant~

but maybe u can find a better version of On My Own~

  • I like the song, but not a huge fan of the singer.....please don't take offense!!

  • marrying 2 great plays together. Great idea! I like Phantom, but I've always thought that musically, Le Mis is better. Who is it that's singing in this video? Whoever it is, it is an excellent voice.

  • love this song so much and i love the video as well... thanks for sharing

  • A bit disconcerting at first but very creative! I enjoyed it.

  • Amazing! Thanks for sharing your talents. :)

  • good but i hate this version of on my own

  • To everyone who said "My two favorite musicals": You have amazing taste. ^^

  • @Dareyou2figuremeout Wow, no one's ever said that to me before! Hah thanks!

  • My two favorite musicals! :D

  • yay both of my fav musicals:)

  • Xianneh, it ´s true. This song isThe Miserables musical. This and the phantom of the opera are my favorite musicals.

  • Wonderful!

  • This is brilliant!! Very clever idea. Must have taken you ages to do this. My 2 fav musicals combined!! Well done!!

  • A merging of my favourite shows. Wow.

  • i thought this song belongs to les miserables?

  • thats bull! i don't care that the song fits Christene...SHE DOES NOT SING THIS SONG stop ruinng phantom of the opera u muffin! get a lifeeee

  • @MovieMakerGirls1996 Jeez leave her alone. It's great. And apparantly you haven't seen the majority of POTO videos.

  • @MovieMakerGirls1996 wow so apparently you really dont understand the aspect of fanvids. let me fill you in: they are videos with clips from movies set to music that may or may not be sung by the actors. i hoped that helped with your confusion there.

  • Frances Ruffelle is my favourite Eponine. Yes, it does fit Christine rather nicely - great job!

  • I love frances ruffle's version she the original and she has a unique quicky tone to her voice everyone else does good but france's version is the only one that can make me team eponine

  • TO nie jest utwór z Phantoma tylko z Les Miserables!!!!!!

  • like it-creative-wrong song for wrong vid! You are unusual! this mixxes it up a bit! way to go.

  • erg leuk , knuff.

    manny

  • wow luv it, congrats you just made it as my 100th song in my favs!!!!!!!!

  • I love the two songs together but i wished you picked Lea Salonga's version or Lea Michele's version

  • Hm... I love both shows, but I'm not sure how well I like the two combined. Very well made video though.

  • nice job

  • Very cool, Carolyn. Bravo!

  • combained the two best plays to an amazing music piece :D perfect

  • I got the feeling that she's going to break her voice in every second..but the video is great of course

  • awsome

the two musicals i went to see in london

  • i like the idea of mixing the 2, but why frances ruffelle's version? lea salonga's is so much nicer

  • Very well done! Thank you

  • hey i have this song on my ipod it is from 1985 i love it and it fits perfectly

  • hmm. Les Mis in a montage of POTO.....Idk about that dude. It sorta kinda works. I don't like the version of the song or the way this Eponine performs it though and it's one of my favorites from Les Mis :/

  • This is frm the misarebles 10th anniversary

  • This is from the Miserables

  • beautyful song <3

  • Oops, misspelled Frances Ruffelle.

  • This is NOT Emmy - she has never sung this song (:

  • Frances Ruffele, from the original London recording.

  • This isn't Lea Salonga singing, nor is it Emmy Rossum. I forget who it is.

  • Carolyn it's an amazing video! :)

  • I LOVE EMMY ROSSOM!!!

she has such a beautiful voice!

  • thats not emmy singing, its lea salonga (voice of mulan also)

  • Frances Ruffele, from the original London recording.

  • Just beautiful! I lost my beloved dog, Buddy, a short while back. This is so sad, uplifting and magnificent!

  • what is this song doin in this phantom video??? it's not lea salonga though

  • Wondering who sings this

    is it Lea Salonga?

Doesn't really sound like her imo...

    Nice done anyway

  • I love this song very much. .

  • Amazing:)

  • Super! :D

  • very nice this. Who is singing here??

  • this is awesome. I love On my Own. I love POTO. This ROCKS!!!!! seriously.

  • This is so beautiful! I cryed during this! I'm thinking of using this song as an audition piece. I'm a mezzo soprano. Should i go for it?

  • no, i noe its kinda l8 on this but its a very overdone piece

  • works so well! nice job! i love both phantom and les miz! awesome!

  • Who sings???

  • Sounds like Leah Salonga.

  • Someone at my school did this, and I didn't think it was a very good song, and I just listened to this and it is really good so I know the singer sucks. :-)

  • Can you sing???????????????

  • Love it!!! Especially the mixture of the two. Good, good ending. =)

  • ah sang this in choir love it

  • I sang this song, love it soooo much!!

  • Very nice creative blend of two of the all-time best musicals. Frances Ruffelle's Eponine is the best!

  • Comment removed

  • she said that she mixed videos with tracks, if you are talking about the poster of this video, then think before you act. if you are talking to someone else, then i apologise.

oh, and it isn't an opera you idiot, it is a musical, it is not all sung, it is a story with music, not music with a story.

  • youre calling her dumb ass? if you werent a dumb ass you would know that les miz and phantom are not operas. theyre musicals! operas are all sung, and musicals are plays with music in them. you wouldve also been smart enough and read the desciption and found out this was a mixture of the two. whos the dumb ass now "smart" ass?

  • err.. sorry this isn't a shot or anything but i'm pretty sure les mis is all sung..

  • personally, i like this version of On My Own better than the Lea Salonga version... I think Frances Ruffelle's voice just goes along with the character of Eponine better because her voice isn't as refined.

  • i couldn't agree more, i think eponine's voice would have been more teeny than that of leah salonga,

    although lea sang it beautifully

  • Hey! I never realized before how well Christine fits this song. Nice job!

  • try listening to the version sung by lea salonga :D

  • this video is beautiful!! great job.

  • Brilliant!

  • try the version of lea salonga^^

  • Who is singing this version of on My own

  • Love the way she sings this, best version I have heard so far x

  • Damn this is the best version I've heard of On My Own. Everyone else distorts it too much... musicals should sound dead. Any chance I can get the singer?

  • I think this one is the original, Frances Rufelle. I liked her... until I heard Lea Salonga :)

  • I don't know who the singer is, but it's on the London Cast Recording. Hope that helps. '

  • I LOVE this song and am a huge Eponine fan, and Phantom of the Opera in another one of my favorite musicals; but I don't really think that these two stories go together very well.

but kudos to you anyway, this video is insanely well made!

    it must've taken you forever!

  • who is this singer

  • two of my favorite musical together! loved it!

  • This might have worked if the person she's referring to in the song were Christine's father. But the whole point of the song is that the girl is in love with someone who doesn't love her - which is the exact OPPOSITE of the case with Christine and the Phantom (he is not only in love with her, but obsessively so, and angsts because she doesn't love him).

Maybe you could do a weird gender reversal where the singer represents the Phantom's voice?

  • I HATE it when people mix musicals.

The footage is from the Phantom MOVIE (which, by the way, is not as good as it is on stage. The movie PALES in comparison)

The song is from Les Mis.

They will never be from the same show. They aren't even ABOUT the same thing. Get it straight, okay?

  • that went together almost perfectly!!!

  • I think it would work better it it was about the phantom rather than Christine... Christine isn't exactly on her own, at least not at this point with Raoul and Erik (The phantom DOES have a name, people. Read Gaston Leroux's "The phantom of the opera".) Moving on... but Erik IS on his own... And Christine is more like Marius than Eponine...

  • The book is awesome it pains me to know that very few people have read it.

  • if you are talking about the book upon which Phantom of the Opera is based, you must be joking. the book is TERRIBLY written. this is one of the very rare instaces where the movie is FAR BETTER than the book

  • I didn't think the book was awesome, but it was interesting. I'm glad to have read it. I've also seen the older movies (not musicals). And of course this movie and the musical live on stage :-)

  • Very nice job! This Eponine is very good. Though I prefer Lea Salonga, this woman is very good.

  • wow who could have thought "on my own" with clips from the Phantom could actually work well together?? Well anyone who doesn't think so should def. watch this video. It was so awesome!=D great job!*

  • eh hello people

Valjean is the best character in Les Mis

he helped fantine, he 'adopted' cosette nd he avoided getting caught by that Javert guy for yrs

Eponine is a gud character but for wat she did 2 cosette when dey were kids doesnt make her a nice character. shes spoilt really. she wanted Marius when she kne he really loved cosette, least she did the right thing in the end and joined the two together

  • There's never really any proof that Eponine was horrible to Cosette. Only Mme Thenardier was terrible to her. She WAS *SPOILED* (not spoilt) but became a waif. She's not spoiled anymore. At any rate, the musical is set up so that the audience is supposed to like Eponine and not Cosette. And you can't honestly tell me you weren't ever a little greedy. Is it so terrible to want the one you love?

And by the way, go buy a grammar dictionary.

  • there is a part in the begginging when eponine is a child that she tells her mother cosette wasn't doing her work (this is in only one version i have seen), but then she more than makes up for it when she dies trying to deliver a message to marious (spell check)

  • I respectfull disagree...the strongest song in Les Mis is the duet bet. Marius and Eponine(A Little Fall of Rain)....And the strongest character is Gavroche...little people...I agree that Cosette's character mooches of her daddy and is a spoiled brat....

  • Yes that is indeed a very strong song as well, since it concludes Eponine (hehe). No it's true, I really love this song as well. Gavroche is strong too, yet Eponine shows her pain so beautifully.

  • I love this song as well. Eponine is one of my favorite characters. This pairing between Phantom and Les Mis, however, bugs me to no end.

They just don't FIT. I really don't like it when people mix musicals. Don't get me wrong, I mean, it's very well made, and this version of On My Own (I recognize Frances Ruffelle) is my favorite. It just wasn't very well thought through.

  • i know u are so right!

  • i think its a good combo!

  • I think it depends on your prospective. I mean, 'technically' it doesn't go with the actual Phantom story, but if anyone can find a way for it to work in their mind, then good for them.

Nice video BTW, carolynroxsox. I love the version On My Own that you chose. :)

  • great!

  • Nice rendition

  • I prefer her singing on the Broadway recording, but hey, it works.

  • i'm sorry about what i said about francis ruffelle, i just don't really like her. sorry if i caused anybody offence.

  • is the london set of lyrics? it's not a bad recording, but the symphonic one is better...

  • THANK GOD!!!! Someone finally uses a DECENT recording of it. Although to me, the Original London Cast (the one used here) is by far the best one out there. ALL HAIL FRANCES RUFFELLE, the BEST Eponine in Les Miserables history (well, in my opinion she is)

  • High-five for using the original London cast recording. And awesome video too.

  • no.

  • i like this song n great job on the video! my 2 favorite broadway shows but i dont like this version of on my own. is this the original broadway cast recording?? because if it is then maybe im hearing things lol

  • How the hell can u call this song weak? This is the most emotional song is the entire musical!

  • Is this Frances Ruffelle?

  • she's not that great, sounds kinda drunk as a matter of fact...

  • The only half decent version of On My Own.

Les Miserables is great, but On My Own is by far the weak point.

  • Why is On My Own a weak song?

  • Comparitvely, its very weak, particullarly when song by Lea Solanga.

Its like a generic pop song stuck in a middle of an incredible musical.

  • it's a lament about eponine and her lost love. how is generic pop?

  • that was a joke right? what are half of generic pop songs ABOUT?

  • I think On my own is the strongest song in Les Miserables. And Eponine is definitely the strongest character. I don't like Cosette actually :)

  • woo emmy!

  • HAH the only Les Mis Song I know which is like the chorus and the tune I love you

  • Ahhh love the original one I've been searching for this

    Love her voice xD

  • I played Eponine in my school's Les Mis (she sings the song) and i sounded nothing like that! ><

  • interesting....this is my favorite version of On My Own, so I'm glad you chose it. I like it! :) :D

  • You ought to use the Kaho Shimada version. Frances Ruffelle is nauseatingly whiny. XD

  • Your videos amaze me--and this was no dissapointment! Keep on making videos--they all rock!

  • ok ...well if i do say so my self u are pretty damn good at making videos !

and when i am bored i make something it passes the time away. the only thing i have a struggle doing is actually putting t on coz my comp wont let me

  • not a good eponine. get the original st.

  • Hmmm....interesting....

Christine was often lonely, but she was not really as alone as Eponine was. It's not a BAD fit for the song, though. The context just gets changed.

  • this song is actually very pretty but near the end, the gal made my ears bleed with the piercing notes

  • very cute.

  • WOW this is really gd! well done, id love to make stuff lik this, does anyone no any sites or software to do it

  • the two dont mix...there is a perfectly good song to go with that scene from the phantom

  • And yet it is ok to be open to new possibilities, right? I've watched both separately, but this amv does work out!

  • Best song ever with the best movie ever.

  • Very nice. It really works!

  • Two great musicals

  • Carolyn, I beg of you to never again mix Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. They don't need each other for support and as you hopefully have noticed they have done fine on broadway on their own. You must realize that this will only confuse some people (thespian-whatever) who do not have a cultured bone in their body.

  • Cold.

  • Snobby, isn't one?

  • I am pretty sure this is Frances Ruffelle. I have this song on a cassette tape somewhere. I believe this is the original version and at some point they changed it to the lyrics we know today, not sure when the change occured though.

  • i think is the japanese girl who doesn't speak english. she's pretty amazing.

  • Yay! This is the first vid. I found with this song. It's so beautiful, it's a surprise more people don't use it. *sighs*

  • i hate the beginin verse

  • You should take that up with Claude-Michel Schoenberg, etc. for writing it.

  • good job..i loooved it

  • This was amazing. The emotion fits perfectly/

  • i love the song! i love the movie! wonderful job!

  • Great Job!! One of my favorite songs and putting this song with this musical does work.

  • is this the real version

  • It's also not Frances...I think it's not anyway. Notice the different lyrics in the beginning. Just asking since I'm not a Les Mis expert: Is this the original cast recording (that was NOT done on Broadway and lacks Colmishness)?

  • That is indeed Frances Ruffle and this was from the oringnal london cast recording.
