it comes with one 3.5mm jack. you can plug this into your ipod, but you would need to disconnect it from your computer in order to do that. in order to use both yer comp and an ipod, you'd need to buy your own cable

hey there..

i want to buy a speaker system..I found two systems that are not very expensive and also has more power..

1st one is is this, Logitech Z-2300 and the other system is Sony MHC-EC909iP Mini hi-fi music system.

Logitech has 200 RMS or 400MAX and Sony hi-fi has 540Watt Power..

Sony costs little more but I am really confused on which one to buy..

I want alot of bass and good/loud sound.

@Dhoom821 speakers for video games, movies, or music? understand that the sony system has 260RMS. With audio, usually if you have the money to spend on the higher systems, it's worth it. and you really can't go wrong with sony. but the "sony" name instead of sony's "XPLOD" makes me think of TV's before i think of music. just my opinion though.

The flaw you noticed with the headphone jack isn't that bad, just tight is all.

The main flaw people will notice if they ar einto music is that the speakers it comes with have shit/no midrange.

I have some decent Panasonic speakerss with beautiful Mids and Highs plugged in because the litle logitech spakers have a pretty "barely-there" midrange, and listenting to music isn't that good with them.

But there are easy fixes.

But the SUB, OMFG 35Hz and 260w SOUNDS GREAT :D

@GuidesAndMetal i took mine off too. it's just for looks. as long as you're in an environment where nothing will punch a hole in your sub [kids, animals, etc.] it's all good to take the grill off. it's actually possible to put it back on once you take it off. it'l kinda squeeze right in; but you can also use glue/doublesided tape to re-glue it and it probably won't fuck with the sound in any noticeable way.

I managed to do that with my Z-2300 and it freaked me out, but i really dont want to fail trying to take off my grill :P

On the back of the sub inclosure you do have a heat sink, since the amp is in the sub all the heat has to trasfer to the heatsink other wise it would burn up.

What you were describing on the back of the sub inclosure is the access point for the fuse, its possible that it could blow so if it does you can fix it.

z2300 has a better frequency range due to it's stronger sub. if you don't care about bass, stick with the Z523. they are almost exactly the same in other catagories. and remember it's 523 not 253.

yes, i usually have to turn up the midrange with an EQ. if you have an EQ, the z-2300s are the perfect 2.1 buy. but if you do not have one, then yes, the midrange lacks punch.

it is a heatsink, of course there's a built in power amp, and it needs cooling so they put this heatsing, which brings the heat from inside the enclosure (where the amp is) to the outside.

yes that is heatsink, it can get warm when you play louder on higher bass, but not much...

that 0-1 button on the back is power master switch, and i dont think it's wise to play with it when system is working... use it if u're not gonna use them for a while, or thunderstorm and such, like on desktop pc(if u have one)

i suggest you put subwoofer on a floor, close to a wall or desk side, air intake/exhaust like 4-5 cm(2 inches) away from desk panel/wall, to get best bass spread thought the room, well in this case through whole house :D

if you are going to go 5.1 i suggest you get the z-5500's. they go for around $300.

That unfortunately is just how the headphone jack is. I have no idea why Logitec decided to make theirs that way but it is the same on my Z4s as well. Just bought the Z-2300s today, should be in the mail tomorrow!!
