  • All old mac user knew about Marathon, Bungie and that Bungie was working only for mac about 10 years.

  • You know what, that's what I just realized: that today's gamers don't like to READ.

That's what Marathon does to you: make you smarter. CAUSE YOU READ. And when we read, WE GET WHAT'S GOING ON.

    Anyhow, see you starside!

  • From a guy who had Marathon 1, 2 and Infinity on floppies for my LC when they came out, "THANK GOD IT'S YOU! FROG BLAST THE VENT CORE!" ...Is that a truck backing up? Grenade-hopping? Just Vid It. Also, "Hahn-HAHN Hohn-HOHN."

  • To me Marathon > Halo1,2,3

  • Amen.

  • damn! good shirt

i wonder if you have green blood?

    only one way to know

  • The Pfhor have yellow blood.

  • but you have the assimilated bob shirt isnt it?

  • BOBs and Similicrums wear the same uniform!

  • only the green ones (like your shirt)

  • It's a jumpsuit!

  • Thank God it's you! They're EVERYWHERE! Hey... HE'S SHOOTING AT US!!!! FROG BLAST THE VENT CORE!!!!!

  • HE KILLED BOB!!!

  • Ok, Halo Was created by Bungie, Marathon was created by Bungie. also Remember the end of Halo 3? Ya Think the cheif could be that Cyborg dude?

  • Comment removed

  • Dude we should play network together, I never could when the game came out (MESSAGE ME BACK!)

  • I remember my ex used to ignore me or stop talking to me just to play Halo 3 when that came out.

Probably the only reason why I resent it

Love the suit and glasses! Very cute

I miss playing video games with my brother now. I never really played computer games though. Sega Genesis ftw. Haha. Those were the days

  • Escape will make me God.

  • I continue to make progress and it almost makes me cry because of the epicness...

  • A green jumpsuit.. OMG! YOUR A SIMULACRUM! SHOOT HIM!

    Frog blast the ventcore T_T

  • Fuck yeah.

  • B.T.W. Marathon 1 was released in 94 not 95

  • Actually that was pointed out a number of times, already.

  • well...my bad...i don't usually read comments but I guess i should...marathon still rocks! BTW you aren't missing much in halo 2/3

  • LOL a BOB suit. You should get a cyborg Helmet to go with it!

  • The dancing in the beginning was hilarious.

  • Sort of an eccentric dude but you are 1000% right on in taste in games. Marathon, Myst, Deus Ex. All incredibly great titles. Good point about Halo's plot and atmosphere, the H3 campaign is a lot more intricate and enjoyable play wise than its predecessors but would have really profited from the kind of story writing present in the marathon trilogy (and no the purposefully confounding dribble hinted at throughout the Halo[2/3] series for the sake of melo drama. That doesn't cut it IMO)

  • God I love marathon so much. I hate when I show it to one of my other friends and they're like "The graphics suck, this game sucks blah blah.." Fuck.. I mean if you can't appreciate and enjoy the original fps, then you shouldn't play the new ones. Also I love the alien noise you made. lol.

  • Well, the thing is, the original Marathon does suck. At first I thought it was pretty fucking awesome, so I decided to download Durandal and Infinity, as well as a couple of major conversion scenarios. I beat Durandal and Infinity and decided to go back to the original Marathon.

Honestly it amazes me to this day that I didn't go insane trying to beat the first Marathon. I'm just glad Bungie improved on Marathon in Durandal and Infinity, making the games both challenging and very fun.

  • THE ORIGINAL RULES, PHILISTINE.

  • Dude, they did everything right with Durandal. They added new textures so everything didn't look the same, they got rid of the crappy midi tracks, and they added an overall greater amount of variety. Also there's the F'lickta. I mean, they fucking throw poo at you, dude!

Also you got to see much more of Durandal, as well as a more interesting plot. Although the plot is great throughout the entire series, it had its greatest moments in Durandal. Infinity was pretty trippy though.

  • i loved everything from the p'fhor ship

    the trigger sounds...the music...the textures......

sometimes i still dream i am in the alien ship :D

  • Loved the rant man.. Marathon > Halo.. Always & Forever In my book!!

  • Marathon 2 durandal is the best mac game ever, and the music is awesome.

And a nice video you made (:

  • Marathon gameplay is better that Halo, the storyline is better. Halo just has more developed multiplayer and better graphics.

  • Compare the awesomeness of Durandal to the stupidity of Cortana.

"Look! An opening in the wall! It was made by someone, so it must lead somewhere." --Captain Obvious AKA Cortana

"In this room you will find another pattern buffer and some of our old friends [the Pfhor fighters and some S'pht]. I left a little toy [presumably the flamethrower found in that level] there too. Enjoy yourself." --Durandal

  • "Give me a D U R A N D A L What does that spell? Durandal? No. Durandal? No.

    ...Trouble.

I both loved and hated Durandal while I was playing marathon. He made me laugh and love him for his... well... being a total asshole basically. Myself being an asshole, I kind of felt a connection to him. Video games have kind of dumbed down in the years. The objective is laid out to you in black and white now. Durandal actually made it more interesting.

"Unlike Leela I will give NO HINTS!"

  • BTW the naked AI chick you were thinking of is Cortana. And You are correct, that as cool a character as she is, you just cant beat the wit and sarcasm of Leela, Tycho, and the uber-awesomeness of the one and only Durandal. And my comment to aribenzane's comment is that the stories arnt connected in the sense that one continues the other, its that the Halo story is almost a perfect mirror image of the one in Marathon. I dont have enough type left to tell you just how close they are, just trust m

  • I myself could go on (and have to my Halo fanboy friends) about the awesomeness of Marathon. Strange don't you think that a game like Marathon has such devoted fans more than a decade after its release? I was 14 when Marathon first came out for the Mac back in 94 and I played the whole trilogy faithfully each year they were introduced. Marathon had such a HUGE expansive world and story that it just sucked you in completely And don't even get me started on the map & physics editors.

  • Oh man, the marathon fanbase has an inspiring amount of loyalty.

  • Funny.

    Nice jumpsuit.

  • also that silver machine gun in marathon 2 looks exactly the same (on your HUD) as the halo plasma rifle in halo

  • Also Bullshit.

  • actually marathon happened after halo

  • Bullshit.

  • bungie even said marathon is like 240 years after halo. You can just look at the dates in halo and on the terminals in marathon.

  • The GAME Marathon came first.

Did Halo come out in 1994? No.

    Did Marathon? Yes.

That's like saying Star Wars episode 1 is the original first Star Wars movie.

    Give me a break!

  • yes i know but thats not what i meant.. i meant the story line of marathon takes place after the storyline of halo

  • Storyline shmoryline.

    Marathon came first.

  • I don't see how anyone can claim the stories of Halo and Marathon are even remotely connected. They feature totally different characters, worlds and events. Just because Halo features a bunch of Marathon-esque symbols doesn't mean they're related. Bungie probably thought they just looked cool.

  • Blah blah blah..

  • Prince, your replies tend to be hilarious. Thank you for that. Also - I hereby cast True Ressurection upon this video's comments.

  • bungie disclosed the fact that they are connected. Yes they are similar, but not the same universe.

  • Marathon Rules!!!

  • hahahaha

  • Good old Marathon. Though I daresay that Halo would probably have been a much worthier successor if Bungie had been able to make it without Microsoft directing the project.

You know, I never did beat that game...

  • It's surprisingly challenging, much more so than Marathon 2.

Marathon Infinity is hard too but only because the maps suck so hard.

  • Five times. Five damn times. Five times I went in the wrong exit in the Electric Sheep levels, and had to redo a bunch of levels in a deja-vu sort of thing. Five agonizing times.

  • I found Infinity a lot more of a pain than the original. Just because you messed up doesn't mean it's a bad game.

  • Hmm. Yeah I guess I shouldn't have said that the original all out sucked. It's more of a case where the sequels were a large improvement over the original. In my opinion anyway.
