there's a great, great wealth of fine music still waiting to be rediscovered. This is one clean sounding 78... and they're still out there. BTW folks, always play your clean, unworn 78's on a good machine like this Garrard type A in the video!
I really appreciate you're collection of REAL music for us youngsters in today's world. I'm 24, buy love the simplicity and genuine emotion of music way back then (20s-early 60s). Thank you!!!
Amazingly clean for an old 78. Is it the record or that Garrard classic turntable? I had one of those, probably a later model. It had a more rectangular shape. It was great for a while, but it seemed as though the tone arm stiffened up. Would skip toward the end of a record. Dave.
This was a "vanity" pressing- probably for Russ Olson, who was looking for someone to "jump start" the songs he and his wife composed, using the records you acquired, 'cdb', as a "calling card" to publishing companies who might have gotten his songs recorded by a "bigger name". While this song is quite good, there were thousands of songs by other composers, at the time, who never got the chance to be widely heard by "name artists"...they "fell through the cracks" as well.
Not much of a tune but the record is in remarkable shape.
