I sometimes dig cuttin' on cd players but I dig cuttin' and jugglin'on vinyl the most. That's the real show of skills. There's something more interactive with the actual spin of a record on a turntable that brings the rush. Wish I and A-Kidd were there. B-96 should throw another battle and not be so exclusive.
Will B96 ever throw any more scratch dj battles? When did this battle occur? Was it closed to certain people in the know? It would be cool for me and my 6 year old son to enter. I don't think the competition would have a chance against DJs J.P. GUNNz and A-KIDD.
The "battle" was actually more of a remix competition for the play "Wicked", and it took place this past B96 summer bash.
And I'm not taking anything away from your son, I'm sure he's really talented but if you're really serious about him and battling etc.. You should really look into the I.T.F., D.M.C., or even guitar center's battles.
I.T.F. s don't exist anymore. I was talking to I.E. Merge about it (the I.T.F.'s) the scene's got nervous. Just pop-tarters playin' around. I'm tired of waitin' for the DMCs. We're both battling this year's DMC Regionals hopefully, if they have 'em instead of just one big final like last year in Delaware. They (b-96) should host some mini-dj battles @ their booths and give away prizes & promote & bring back the battle scene.... Think about it...

And I'm sorry man, I myself am not on B96, yet. But hopefully someday they'll think about it but don't count on any stations in chicago trying to start a turntablist scene.
i was there! you were good, but definitely not the best, the second guy (where that candy dj talked over him) was by far better than you, and he used a lot more music from wicked, sorry, you won because no one paid attention to the second guy not because you were the best :(
