  • Yes, the MTH trains are quite detailed. They did make a mistake with the R-1, R-9's in that the headlights are much further apart than they are on these models. The headlights are on the outer edges of the R1/R9. That's a slight oversight that's no big deal of course. The only thing that I don't like about the MTH trains are how far about they are with those unrealistic long couplers. Are there shorter more realistic couplers available? I think it's the same story with the Lionel subway trains.

  • These trains are not cheap - they are programmable where you can set them to stop wherever you want and reverse course as well. They're extremely well made and detailed. They're not in my bedroom - they're in my basement in a corner. The whole layout measures 4'x8' - 2 levels - using sheets of plywood.

  • why do they cost over $200

  • You must have a big bedroom.

  • The announcements come with the trains - they are made by MTH. The designers from MTH went around the NYC subway system and recorded the trains sounds.

  • AWESOME stuff! Where did you get all the recorded announcements?
