i think smoking killed it. dust accumulates in the heatsinks and fans, and normally when it becomes too much some of it comes loose and flies out of the computer again. when smoking, it all keeps sticking to the parts untill the pc overheats. good thing you quit ;)

I have burned up and run many computers to their deaths. One even started smoking. I just rebuild them and load my backed up data into new drives.

I love the machine I'm using right now, works great, never lags.. even in games. If This one died tomorrow, I'd have it rebuilt in less than a week }:)-

I also always have a spare computer for 'emergencies'. Best policy is have a backup of everything!

I do hope you bought a computer that is liquid cooled or has good air circulation. Running so many videos off a computer as a business venture could be quite stressful on any computer. If it has to deal with dust and poor ventilation; 2 years is about all you will ever get out of them...

A good custom built PC can be rebuilt for as long as you can tolerate the tower. ^_^ I've got a great tower, but I have seen some better vented towers that I may move onwards to in the future.

Did the hard drive stop working or did something else go wrong? Because if the hard drive is fine, you could recover your stuff. If not, well, I personally dont know if you can. Thats why its always a good idea to backup everything. Either an extra one inside the case or, if you dont have room, an external hard drive. But yeah, buying a computer in Japan would make a great video. Ive always been curious seeing as how I build my own.
