  • Don't drag!

  • @gsagula2 Based on the comments you have made on other videos I am sure you are one of the "never had a gig, can't get a gig, can't play" morons whose only satisfaction in life is making hateful comments on other people's videos. One reason you can't can't get a gig is you rush everything and can't swing.

Tonight while are spewing more envious hate I will be playing a gig with one of the four different working bands I play in. If you could play, you would make a video for us. Until then STFU.

  • Wow! what an amazing jam. I've tried all kinds of styles but this is definitely the best. Funk Guitar!!

  • @RedGiant81 Whoa! Thanks, dude!

  • Hello man! Im trying to get into the funk, would you happen to recommend some good funk? btw, any good funk chords would be awesome!

  • @XIIIX I am a big fan of James Brown. Jimmy Nolen and Catfish Collins pioneered the style in Brown's band. "Sex Machine" is still one of the baddest guitar grooves ever. Absolute perfection.

In later years JB recorded "It's Too Funky In Here." The live cuts I have found are too fast. But, the studio version has one of the fattest bass lines I've ever heard.

Bootsy's Rubber Band, Parliament, Funkadelic, Brothers Johnson, Cameo, Con Funk Shun, EW&F= all great grooves. Real PLAYERS!

  • @ReverendTFunk As for chords, 3 and 4 note stacks on the high end. Leave the low stuff for the bass. (Not always, of course) "Sex Machine" is a perfect example.

James Brown RIP---The Godfather of Soul. "Take me to the bridge!"

  • @ReverendTFunk Thanks a lot Ill give a listen!!!!

  • Thanks for the kind words. If ya need tabs for any of the other lessons, send a PM.

  • really enjoyed it, thanks

  • thank you very much!

  • sorry for my rude remarks, I really like what your doing. took me a while to get it. I get you, your a cool cat.

  • @timmerdonkey Apology accepted.

  • after watching the whole thing, I have to say he has a very good working knowledge of the fret board and can play very well, I take back my negative remarks, I see jazz ready to bust out of this guy, I think he was holding back, dam good though.

  • @timmerdonkey The purpose of the video is to offer analysis and information to those who have yet to figure out why funk sounds like it does, not to showcase my chops. Holding back? No. Just playing what is appropriate.

  • what a freak, always a nerd to try to figure out whats cool, it's just cool but your not.;who would want an anal jerk, dork, nerd freak in the band?

  • Did you make that backing track?

  • @ricomajestic It's an Alesis drum machine preset 03.
