(Pardon my Italian...)
I stronlgy recommend the brand new DVD "A study in Movement" by Arne Haugaard and Bent Branderup! There they show all the gaits in real time, slow motion and high speed recording with Bent's comments on top! You'll find link to the trailer on my channel!
nice work. get him to actually hold it for a couple seconds and you will then have a levade. but he has to have a moment of balance and stillness. But very nice otherwise.
There are obviously no pulling of ropes here. This is a horse, not a marionette...
What you should notice, though, is the way the horse shifts his weight from the front to his hinds. That shift is what makes this school exercise possible. :)
yes, i noticed the shift, but i still see the rope on the near font leg.... he's not exactly pulling on the rope, but he seems to be lifting it for light contact on the leg.
Are you referring to the reins hanging loosely over the whithers? The precise placement and touch of the whip is what tells the horse what to perform. Bent for sure also communicate with the horse through the part of the reins that are attached to the bit, but not through the hanging reins.
@Maegshorsejump I think you mixed it with the reins.. it looks a bit like that, yeah. But I'd say Bent Branderup wouldn't use such... "stupid" things..
What an amazing video! Never seen a high speed recording of a horse performing levade before - what a joy! Grace and balance. There must be years of work behind a perfect moment like this!
Wauw, exellent control, beautiful horse.

buon lavoro, ma il video è troppo lento. è noioso da guardare, potevate mettere la versione normale e poi quella rallentata

I recomend all of Bent Branderups books and teaching videos. I think they are essential to all riders.
Traverse and reverse are so much more importent to riding than most people know.

Nice slow motion, but I would like to see the
movement in real time. Wonderful start.
