To all those who think video cameras interfere with the plane's navigation systems, they do not. A video camera does not produce RF waves, thus no interference. Now radios and cell phones do cause interference, which is why they must be turned off during flight.
Certainly, 737s or 757s are better suited - even 767s are - but occasionally you need to reposition an aircraft, and why not put fare-paying pax on it when you do?
Are AA buying the 787 with GENx or Trent 1000? AA seem to have had good experience with the RB211 on the 757. What about this aircraft. Does anyone have inside, unbiased knowledge?
This is probably a stupid question, but I don't fly often. How do people get away with recording these take off and landing videos when they do not allow any electronic equipment to be used during those times?
Very nice video. Loved seeing the other plane flying next to yours.
The other live a/c we see are: TAM A330 on its t/o run; a LAN 767 and AA 737 in que behind our 777; and a UPS 767 rotating out of the south-side runway.
I remember flying on the 777 to and from MIA and in BOTH flights I've been in the middle seats so I couldn't look out of any window I was so damn disappointed...
I haven't flown on a 777 yet. But, from that PBS documentary I bought several years ago, the engines are nearly the diameter of a 737's fuselage width.
Yes, it is a HUGE engine. I've got that old PBS documentary on VHS. I bought it new years ago on the making of that plane. They tested the engines out in the Everglades where the noise wouldn't disturb anyone except the frogs and alligators. Amazing, slow mo video of turkeys being inhaled by the engine while at power. You've probably seen it since then. Also, they had this H2O rig in front of it and just poured water into it. Engine never stopped.
obviously you dont know why the 777 was flying from mia-dfw....Sometimes they need to move an aircraft into position for a long haul and it gets used for a hub to hub flight. united and delta does this as well.
I've been flying the 777 for 6 years now and the only engines I've ever flown with are the GE-90's made by General Electric. Are you positive they were Rolls'? Sounded exactly like the GE-90's. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm curious to know if they are using other engines on certain 777's.
Can you risk flying Trent 800 after the problems with the fuel/oil heat exchanger? Two major mishaps 2008. Delta and BA, in which the latter crashed at Heathrow.
Dayum, I'm taking that plane next friday. I love the engine sound but I hate it when they sorta turn it off a few seconds after leaving the ground. It always scares the shit outta me :( . Always think of engine failure ;(.
hehe thx :) Actually I took a plane again yesterday night (YUL-CDG , Air France AF345, Boeing 747-400). I wasnt scared at all because now I know all planes do that. Ystday it was like the pilots had turned the engines off completely !! we had just left the ground, speed was 284km/h (I always keep an eye on the personal screen lol). Then the plane climbed and accelerated slowly. everything was fine I guess XD. and yea i always look at the cabin crew's faces to see if they're panicked or not ;-)
yea i am sorta scared of flying, i just learned about it until i knew what all the noises were, i flew in an md88 just a few weeks ago..it starts to get pretty cool ;D
boeing 777 alway seems to have a more steeper descent than other aircraft on its descent profile. I Love it. ALways more exciting than any other aircraft on approach and landing.
This IS a Boeing 777, American Airlines. Take a good look at the beginning of this video. The fuselage is squared-off at the end, and there are 6 wheels on each 'leg' main landing gear. And those Rolls-Royce Trent 892's are HUGE.
I think they call the main landing gear "trucks". But, you are right. Six wheels on each definitely is a triple seven. Those engines are nearly the diameter of a 737 fuselage. I've not yet flown on a 777 but, have flown on a lot of 737's. The 757/767 has four per truck. I think GE also made engines for it but, I may be wrong. That landing gear just jazzes me.....I like gadgety stuff like that.
Come one guys, this is clearly a 777. You can tell by hearing the triple spools from the RR; the double-spool GEs on their 767s don't make that sound.
I have been on an airplane many times, it beats any mode of ground transportation for going cross-country. Best airline I've been on so far: United. Worst: the now-defunct Piedmont.
Because of their livery, they don't have a fully painted fuselage. I think American Airlines planes look really cool with the silver, red, white, and blue.
They tried to change the livery but the employees didn't like it.
Super vid. Great catch of the other jet taking off from the adjacent runway at KMIA. In 1994, I captured my takeoff in an AA-767 jet from Chicago O'Hare to Frankfurt Main shortly after a thunderstorm hit the area. The sun playing on the clouds was spectacular. It's on an old camcorder, and will have to find a way to upload it onto youtube. Anyone have any suggestions?
I wonder if the people in the other jet were photographing you while you were photographing them??? Nice video. That town must be a noisy place to live with tandem take offs happening all the time. Thanks for the sub...
Just one of those random thoughts of mine. I lean against a big boulder and then wonder how many other people have leaned against the same boulder and wondered the same thing.
I photographed a jet going by in front of me while flying my hang glider and wondered if anyone was in the jet photographing me at the same time. I could actually see faces in the windows of the passenger jet. That's how close the flyby was. Aprox. 7000ft over Palm Desert, CA.
well I think the same way, thats why I love to fly, so much to look at and wonder about. I know when I just about to take off, my mind is thinking of a million things at once.
One thing I will never get over is how small my problems seem when I am in the air. I mostly skydive now but even under canopy I can look down at all the little things on the planet and feel like my problems are so small. I suppose they really are at the time.
if everyone can turn there attention to the monitors and watch the video of our aircraft and turn your tray tables to there upright position and fasten your seatbelts we will be on our way please remember to turn off all cell phones and portable devices
Hello, video cameras don't cause interference with the airplane's systems and are allowed in flight. Same with things like PDA's, handheld video games, and laptop computers.
it would have gone north to Greenland and the north pole since there is a limited amount of time to how long you should stay out sea and how close you should be near to land etc. Incase there is like an emergency during the flight, they would need to get to an airport as soon as possible instead of just crashing straight into the sea.
wow thts cool how u and alitalia took off at the same time basically. alitalia is gonna stop flights from milan to miami in march 2008 but rome will be goin 2 miami with alitalia in the same time milan stops goin there
i had a seat with a view behind the wing about a window away from it so you could see (and hear) the flaps being put down and up and you could hear the landing gear go up and down too. it was a nice flight to Ft. Lauderdale. although it was US Airways :/
and it could be a stopover for where the 777 is actually going from DFW (ie Europe, Asia, etc). That the route's in a triangle, ie goes to Buenos Ares(sp) from DFW, but then comes back through MIA
and about the waste of fuel, they usually dont fill up the planes all the way, so that when they land they're not overweight and kil their breaks
I think that DFW is a 'hub' for American Airlines, and they're probably making a good profit from this particular flight, both in passengers and cargo. This particular aircraft also might be flown out of Miami on American's South American and European routes.
haha, yeah, and American loves shwoing off those engines by thrusting..just listen to 0:22-0:26 and 0:50-0:55...AA does that alot! but yeah it is cool
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
..puhaha what a dumb assumption...why the hell would anybody want to show off...this is not an airshow neither a contest...you can bet your sorry butt he is thrusting in order to get the plane rolling forward..but well like you said before "its cool" nihohohaha :)
Hello, look at some of the other Boeing 777 videos here, from other airlines. Where that loud sound just before takeoff is coming from is the SIZE and POWER of the type of engines used on 777's. There's video here of a Continental 777(the 'Peter Max' themed jet)with GE90's taking off. Those GE90's are just as LOUD as the engines on this AA jet.
is it me or does American Airline pilots LOVE thrustinf their engines 40% on taxiways everywhere! it always fakes people out into thinking they're about to take off, but then it reduces power. seems like AA does that alot especially at Boston Logan International, Miami, Dallas-Fort Worth, LAX, Chicago, and JFK.
haha ok..i'm not the only one, good. i think its pretty cool though, i like the engine noises, but it can get annoying whe you're anticipating takeoff and then you realize they're still not near the runway
The airports you mention are all international airports and aircraft departing to an internation destination are flying longer and require more fuel and hence heavier. The 777 in particular can weigh as much as 650,000 pounds at takeoff and thus requires quite a bit of thrust out of it's two engines to get it taxiing. Cheers.
Planes always take off and land from the same direction, always into the wind. If they went in opposite directions, you would have some SERIOUS problems with the flight patterns, i.e the other planes on approach. LAX is setup just like Miami, DFW, and ATL.
To all those who think video cameras interfere with the plane's navigation systems, they do not. A video camera does not produce RF waves, thus no interference. Now radios and cell phones do cause interference, which is why they must be turned off during flight.

and about the waste of fuel, they usually dont fill up the planes all the way, so that when they land they're not overweight and kil their breaks

I think that DFW is a 'hub' for American Airlines, and they're probably making a good profit from this particular flight, both in passengers and cargo. This particular aircraft also might be flown out of Miami on American's South American and European routes.

The aircraft's engines is compared to the A380

What are the engines that make the more rumbly noise on takeoff rather than the whining noise. I'm guessing the prat & whitney

I love to fly in American...I get chills every time I hear the engines roar up. Ahh the music..

haha, yeah, and American loves shwoing off those engines by thrusting..just listen to 0:22-0:26 and 0:50-0:55...AA does that alot! but yeah it is cool

This comment has received too many negative votes show
..puhaha what a dumb assumption...why the hell would anybody want to show off...this is not an airshow neither a contest...you can bet your sorry butt he is thrusting in order to get the plane rolling forward..but well like you said before "its cool" nihohohaha :)

I know what you mean. At Heathrow there were several times I thought we'd take off.

haha ok..i'm not the only one, good. i think its pretty cool though, i like the engine noises, but it can get annoying whe you're anticipating takeoff and then you realize they're still not near the runway
louie77 4 years ago
The airports you mention are all international airports and aircraft departing to an internation destination are flying longer and require more fuel and hence heavier. The 777 in particular can weigh as much as 650,000 pounds at takeoff and thus requires quite a bit of thrust out of it's two engines to get it taxiing. Cheers.

couldnt agree more, but AA pilots love thrusting on aircrafts such as the MD-80, 767, 737, and another favorite of theirs to thrist on is the 757

Planes always take off and land from the same direction, always into the wind. If they went in opposite directions, you would have some SERIOUS problems with the flight patterns, i.e the other planes on approach. LAX is setup just like Miami, DFW, and ATL.
I haven't flown on the 777 yet, but I cant wait!

the 777's are NICE, the coach is like first class on a 737 =D

Can anyone tell me why there is another plane following on the side?
Thank You.

it's parallel runways - they can do more takeoffs/landings that way with two runways in operation.
John19182004 4 years ago
I know. I play Flight simulator 2004 and x. I was just wondering because they look like they are going the same speed and same altititude.
b747dude 4 years ago
well they probably were just cleared for takeoff at the same time.. that's all..
