I have blond hair and did this and found that it was completely red when I boiled the water and held the hair in it for 10 minutes! I also didn't wash it for 24 hours and it was as vibrant as it could have been. Be warned though, it doesn't come out if you're bond

While this does work really good to get vibrant colors on lighter hair, it is a nightmare to get out. It is a permanent stain most of the time. Kool-Aid and Jell-O both just stain the hair. As a hair stylist, I've had to try to remove this after it stayed in the hair for months. It just fades and looks yucky after awhile and you have to bleach (lightener) the hair or dye it dark to cover it. So, be prepared for it to be around for awhile!

If you mix it with some conditioner it's more vibrant and it stays for about 3 days I think (with conditioner)

@lamopanda, I don't know about with conditioner, but Kool-Aid and Jell-O both stain the hair and can literally take months to get out completely. I am a hair stylist and have had to try to remove it and it can be a nightmare, especially on blonde hair!

@ValkeyrieCain Instead of using water, I used hair conditioner and foiled it overnight! It really improved my hair! It's a little strange sleeping with foils in your hair, but it was totally worth it! Hope this helps!! :)

This works, but some hair types retain the color a lot longer than others. I have fine hair and died a strand of mine red during the summer and it's still super bright :( My hair stylist said it's permanent.

This is actually really bad for your hair, so if yo udo this, definitely only do the tips, so when it ruins your hair you can cut the ends off a few weeks later.
