Looks like a lot of fun! lol were they m203 practice rounds that lil guy had found? Reminds me of when I was a lil younger I'd always be picking up shell cases or something when we went to a range. Hard to get a bearing if you can't find referance points ;p

Very cool. I remember that orienteering came very slowly, if ever, to me when I was a sprout. Use of the compass and getting the right direction wasn't so bad but my patrol had a heck of a time judging distances and the landmarks (waypoints?) were very difficult to spot. Way to hang in there with the spry ones....who didn't look all that spry there at the end.

@scooter17568 You are right! The distances were the biggest problem. It seems every scout has his own pace count and this is what threw them off. Thanks!
