  • What a cock tease with that mardy bum snippet.

  • I was there :') I can't wait to see them again later this year!

  • I get chills every single time I watch this.

sighhh there aren't words to express how much I wish I was there...

  • They're much better musicians now than they were in the beginning. You can tell how much better Jaime's gotten compared to their first tours.

  • 1:50 amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i wish i could go back to this right now, it was lovelyyyy and really emotional too! arctic monkeys are just an amazing band. they'll always be my favourite.

  • @goandeatshitcunt haha! The Enemy? you're joking right?

  • @coldplayds Please enlighten me how you find my comment the slightest bit amusing. I think I need to remind you who's video we are on right now because that certainly is much more amusing.

  • @goandeatshitcunt erm...what are you on about? i didn't even comment anything about you

  • That girl in the audience sings horrible, but what a great moment this is. Two of my favourite Monkeys-songs anyway.

  • can you imagine what is going through alex's mind when the crowd sang? to have all these people sing a song you wrote...you can see it in his face at the beginning

  • They were better in Dussledorf I feel than Sheffield.

  • I feel they were better in Dussledorf than Sheffield.

  • they put no effort in n it changes my opinions of alex turner big time he was like its my gig if u dnt like it go away sort o thing n he seems really far up his own arse tbh n i like arctics alot did anyone else get tht impression as well??

  • They didn't get the crowd going as well as they have done before, to say that it was Sheffield as well they put no effort in. It's as thoguh there not from here anymore...

  • gives me goosebumps when i watch this, coz i was there and it was very atmospheric

  • yh yh i got a shead of a tear but lets be reight alex turner has turned into a knob like wen we sang when the sun goes down he usually lets the crowd sing first bit but nooo he hardly let us and when we did sing mardy bum he didnt want us to sing it u cud tell hes a reight knob for saying sheffield for life and he pisses off to america now LOL

  • :O when did he say sheffield for life? i love arctic monkeys, and i was there im sure you can see me in this video near the front at some point. ANYWAY i duno i loved it there but just wished they put a little more effort in ....:( was still pretty AWSOME though

  • @jamiejam88

they said sheffield for life quite a few years ago well the second year of doing gigs and they said they never leave but oh well but yeah they should have put more effort in to be honest and matt helders prob never gonna drum properly again now his arm is broken but be reight

  • @morton80009656 Yea 3 of em still live in Sheffield though, it's only Alex who followed his girlfriend half way round the world. But he came back to England at the End of 2010 and has got a haircut, plus o'malley said in a interview that he thinks the next album is going to be fast, so i have some fucking hope. I think this one will make em or break em.

  • and there from Sheffield!!!

  • :) amazing

  • I cried 3 times that night, it was soo amazing :) x

  • oh my god, i would have tooo. especially during the mardy bum thing. soo emotional <33

  • Fucking amazing, Won't forget that moment!

  • Fucking immense gig!!!

  • this gig was emmence i was sat down n could see everythin go arctic's

  • Anyone saying they played too much of their first album, it's a HUMBUG TOUR. What do you expect? If you bought a ticket and don't like their new stuff, you are stupid, you knew it would be mainly their new album so don't complain about it after. AMAZING GIG. END OF.

  • I was at this gig near the front and i got cover totally covered in piss. Worth it though

  • Why do people always think the worse?, more than likely it was beer not piss.............

  • that was probly me if it was at the begining. if you was with that crowd of cunt shouting yorkshire yorkshire.

  • was incredible when the whole audience sang mardy bum aaaahh amazingg best gig ever

  • @courtneyyeahh not everyone

  • what a gig this was :)

  • this is wonderful, people :)

  • Best gig ever!! Thanx so much for sharing this vid, that moment will stay with me forever!! Love you Arctics!!! : )

  • does anyone know what alex said at the very end when he walked off n dropped the mic?

    this gig was IMMENSE

  • i think he said "sheffield, iv gotta go out the door, i dont like to get wet" this makes sense aswell because apparently he went offstage upset, from being in his home town, so wet being like his tears, hope this helped :)

  • I don't hear him say anything

  • oooh i posted it on the wrong video pahahah! sorry! x

  • oh wait no i didnt! i answered that guys question at the top! and it wasnt on this video, its on 505 :)

  • 1st of all sorry its my wife singing block 219 behind you definitely her giggle - non stop drinking does this to you- the gig itself was great although i think the arctics were a bit selfish played too much new stuff and a b side - ok for the 1000 diehard travelling fans - but not for the one arctic gig a year fans probably 90% of the audience - no certain romance - no ritz - a bit like oasis who play what they want i suppose - still great though - muse got the mix bang on the week before

  • i remember getting out of the gig and thinking-what the hell about alex turners stage presence, but that video brings it all back. that was just breathtaking! such a good recording too!

  • The Mardy Bum bit needs to stay. Brilliant way of working it in without them having to outright perform the song. The crowd is happy they get to sing mardy bum and the band is happy they don't have to play it.

  • What row were you?

I think i was near, i really hope that wasn't me singing, but everyone said that's what i sounded like ahahha!

  • what was the setlist...?

  • I WAS THERE! no one can deny that they werent amazing! i dont see why everyone is being so harsh tbh, they were brilliant! and Robbie0507, we dont care about greenday, AM are so much better, so stop comparing, there two totally different bands, with different ideas! everyone is getting on about how A.T ♥ walked off near the end of 505 without saying a proper bye, he did say "sheffield, iv gotta go out the door, i dont like to get wet" this probably refers to him crying, i love him so much ♥

  • Just using Green Day as an example as most recent gig before A.M. The point still stands....FANS DESERVE VALUE FOR MONEY. Followed them from 2005 - the days of Ravey Ravey, Space Invaders, Cigarette Smoker etc - OK in 2005 they had no back catalogue & were just a bunch of kids from Barnsley College having a go at starting a band. They now have three albums in the bag and enough material to do a two hour set.......

  • I'll be at the O2 Academy on Saturday at SOUNDCLASH watching more up & coming Local Talent..............YOU'LL BE WATCHING X FACTOR..?

  • I DONT LIKE THE X FACTOR!

  • @ArcticMonkeysilove He walked off before 505 ended at EVERY show I saw this tour--and I saw seven, so don't take it personal. It rubbed me the wrong way too at the first show I saw, so I can however relate to that sentiment.

  • I WAS THERE! IT WAS PURELY AWESOME

  • 2:25 Also makes me cry, it was so amazing.

  • Me too, it's SO beautiful!

    "Very good..."

    :D!

  • 2:25. TEARS

    how beautiful, and magic.

thank you so much for uploading!

  • He's been going off half way through 505 for a while, take Leeds for example, he did it, but there was just something about him that night, all gig he didn't seem 'himself' on stage, constant mumbling to himself. Maybe it was the emotion of returning to the city where it all started and where he was brought up. He's changed alot, he doesn't even sound like himself when talking anymore, has this low, monotonic, dull voice, not what we were used too, the way he slammed the mike too, sumts a miss.

  • @NigelIIRichardson The way he speaks really has changed, I feel markedly. It's an odd change, though environment can be a huge influence. My northern accent slipped a bit when I moved south (US). How do you locals perceive the change? Do you think he still has a classic Sheffield accent or is it more the manner in which he speaks that you notice? It's been both for me. I felt when he spent so much time in the US his accent was slipping and you nailed his voice of late perfectly.

  • That was beautiful.

  • This was simply amazing. Classic.

  • they were amazing last night.

this was unexpected and just.. gold

    505 was a perfect moment.

  • he always goes off early he did it at leeds this year during 505

  • I don't dispute that he does it at other gigs - I was there myself.

I have also seen him stay on stage AFTER 505 has finished and thanked the crowd. The fact that he walked off after he'd finished singing saying he didn't want to "get wet" and then put his hands to his face as he walked off I think means there was more to it than that.

And Matt Helders and Jamie Cook responded to it like there was something not quite right with him.

  • alright fair enough i was only saying

  • Oh yeah I know you were - sorry, didn't mean to make that sound quite as harsh as it came out!

    Friends? lol

  • ha yeah sure

  • To all of those bitching about them not appreciating being back in Sheffield and AT "couldn't wait to get off the stage" -

Imagine being 19, making a huge album, and coming back home four years later when you're even bigger and doing a homecoming gig in front of 10,000 plus fans, most of them as rabid as some people here. Can you even imagine how daunting that must have been?

And FYI, Alex left the stage because he was emotional. Not because he "couldn't wait".

    Grow and evolve. Apes.

  • You might be right, 3 days ago he did the same in Amsterdam Arena, he wasn't sympathetic and the new album Humbug is a bit emotional as well.

  • robbie mate, at the end of the day, if you like green day, you're a fuckin bellend

  • ALL MUSIC - ALL MUSIC FLOWER.

    WELL......... NOT THAT R n B SHITE.

  • i were rate at front and it were amazing

  • Anyone who describes last night as disappointing obviously were the one's right at the back and dis heartened by there rubbish seat. They were amazing and from what i saw ... they were not disappointing to everybody who was there because of the big fooking smiles on there faces ;D

  • in tears. i'm so excited for when i see them. how much more amazing can you get?

  • Ahem, I only got a tad teary-eyed(;

I'm not sure why everyone is so disappointed, it seemed like an amazing gig.

And just because they're in Sheffield they're supposed to play their entire debut album? I think that playing Mardy Bum, a song they said they were never going to play again, is pretty special. But maybe that's just me.

(PS - the agile beast (and the fro) is back)

  • Not that it was a crap GIG.......But there should have been MORE!!!!

Like I said they have enough of a back catalogue to do a two hour set......

I was 10 feet from the stage - Standing.

    The Moshing was a laugh!!

  • fantastic gig but should have been more special ,alex hardly acknowlegded they were back in their home town,

  • I can't believe last night. I mean I came back from university down in Derby especially to see them play in Sheffield and what did we get,

the lead singer's mic turned down and not playing fake tales of san fransico.

Hell I was sat right at the very back and at the top.. I have to admit the crowd was more entertaining. I mean this is there first arena gig in sheffield and they really messed up

  • get over it they arent a lil jump about indie band any more. if you want that go listen to one. idiot.

  • Was ther las night and was very disappointed with them.

I was expecting alot more especially in their home town.

Their new album is very boring and one paced

  • LAZY LAZY LAZY - Same Setlist they've been Doing all along this tour -

Barely did 1 hour 20 SET & left out Fake Tales, Rubble to The Ritz, A Certain Romance..I Could Go On.. THEY DIDN'T DO A CERTAIN ROMANCE!

Only Did Mardy Bum 'Cos the Crown were singing it before the Encore..A.T. Couldn't wait to Get off the Stage. Poor old Cookie was left there STOOD ON HIS OWN. THEY'VE GOT A BIG ENOUGH BACK CATALOGUE TO DO AT LEAST A TWO HOUR SET. DID ANYONE TELL THE BAND THEY WERE IN SHEFFIELD??

  • in an interview with zane lowe alex said they wont be playing teddy picker fake tales. i mean the new album is fucking amazing tho so i dont mind

  • Its very rare that when a band tour with there third album they will play many tracks from there first.

  • To miss out on Sheffield's National Anthem would have been a sacrilege. To those who weren't there, no explanationan is possible. To those of is who were there, no explanation is necessary

  • Best gig i've ever been to, by far.

  • it was an amazing gig but it didnt seem like it was sheffield, nothing specially for their home town.

  • it was never supposed to be, but it was brilliant!

  • i was right at the front in the middle.. this was an amazing song.. although, the best one was when the sun goes down by far.. <3 <3 <3

  • i was there! this was amazing

  • This was special. Goosebumps.

  • it was amazing

  • i was nearly crying :')

it was proper amazing when everyone was singing together <3

i was right at front, in front of alex!

  • I was nearly crying just watching this... I would have been in tears if I was there. how was the gig? seemed so special.

  • i cried when they played this & im not ashamed to admit that :') haha it was amazing.

  • I'm not ashamed either. It seemed so emotional. if I can feel the emotion just from watching the video then actually being there must have been so moving. the whole crowd singing along with Alex. just lovely. goosebumps&tears.

  • This gig was amazing. Loved the mardy bum bit.

  • i was there last night too. best. gig. ever <3

  • well now now then mardy bum <3 wow, chills and tears. how beautiful..the whole crowd sang and all. I would have cried if I was there

  • i was at the front of this ;)

  • so lucky you are. I would have cried at the mardy bum part. lol seemed so emotional...

  • it was so good. I didnt cry but it was like ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH :D:D:D:D mardy bum + fluorescent adolescant = my dream

  • yeahh I bet it was so amazing. the whole crowd singing is just freaking awesome!! gosh. I hope next time I see them they'll do something this beautifully amazing. lol

  • yea well hopefully

    youll love it

  • <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • I hope they perform this at Glasgow!

  • robbie0507 You should just die now! It was FUCKING AUSOME! Eagles of Death metal were SHIT! Everyone was booing after the second song! BUT THE ARCTIC MONKEYS WERE EPIC SO...SHUT THE FUCK UP! thanks for posting this vid! =D

  • i suggest you wait about 10 years and then go to a 'best of' gig. Arctic Monkeys had no reason to play these songs u talk about on a tour of humbug. We should be happy they did throw in a few for the 'mardybum gang' in terms of dancefloor and sun goes down. The setlit for this tour is exactly what i want, and expect.

  • amazing! what an atmosphere! love the crowd singing the whole time

  • POOR POOR POOR -They Came on at 9:02 and walked off stage at 10:30 on the dot... I was there last night standing - at the front - THIS WAS SHEFFIELD LADS ! - NOT BERLIN OR AMSTERDAM or ANTWERP - A.T. only did MARDY BUM 'cos the crowd were singing it before they came out for the encore - where was RITZ TO THE RUBBLE - FAKE TALES - A CERTAIN ROMANCE.......I COULD GO ON.....the stuff that was missing left a GAPING HOLE. Eagles of Death Metal had more connection with the CROWD.THIS WAS SHEFFIELD?
