I bet that all of the appropriate preparation was in place prior. Was it not? The only thing is that if the cities drainage system is backed up or overwhelmed then all of the trenching in and outside of the basement will be futile. The two most saving graces are: The cities drainage system and no great outside street flooding.

what make a model is that pump?

@interstategar It is a Tsurumi Submersible Pump. It is an older model sump pump meant too pump the water right to the floor. Sometimes it works to well and sucks its self too the floor. It works very well. I modified it by changing the out put to 2 inch. With the modification it pumps alot of flood water fast and all the way to the floor. They don't sell this model anymore but they do sell one that pumps fairly close to the floor and does not suck itself to the floor. I bought them on ebay.
