  • "Bermuda Triangle!" honey badger don't give a shit!

  • This is a great movie! But there is some problems with this part of the movie. The plane is in the bermuda triangle they said they will be landing on St George Island in 20 minutes. That is not possible the island is 400 miles away in the Florida panhandle. Also the tip of the wing hit the oil rig. That should have not caused an engine fire and brought down the plane. The 747 can fly on as little as two engines without problems. I understand this is just a movie so everything can't be perfect.

  • those clouds looks hard as a rock

  • So I guess the drilling rig was unmanned because obviously if a 747 hit it, they would have called, oh I don't know, the Coast Guard or someone? The original Airport stands the test of time. All the sequels were a waste of film.

  • i would give ANYTHING to look like the lee grant character in the movie - her short hairstyle looked ABSOLUTELY FABOULOUS with her black dress with the sheer sleeves!

  • The guy at 6.43 should have known better. One of the natural laws of cinema is that if a room is filling up with water the chances of being trapped under a heavy object are dramatically increased.

  • Is this where Karen Black flies the plane?

  • @MrGENOSTV No that's the previous film - Airport 1975

  • Was hitler on this vid or SOMEONE that lookslike him?

  • @flyhi4everXOXO you are stupid

  • its times like this you need Rodney Dangerfield around

  • I've seen something like this in the thunderbirds episode operation crash dive

  • Joan Crawford was suppose to be in this movie...

  • Why doesn't this guy shut down the engine that caught fire after and futhermore, increase power so he does not crash into the ocean!?

  • @emilymcdougall..LOVE LEE GRANT'S HAIR! FABULOUS VERSION OF "VALLEY.." and "SHAMPOO"....LOL!

  • Best movie ever :). Gotta love lee grant and brenda vaccaro <3

  • The is a problem with the movie. When the engine catches on fire, in real life, the pilot would use the engine fire extingisher which would automatically shut the fuel supply off to that engine and automatically shut that engine down so it wouldn't ignite again, but of course it does because it's a movie.

  • I Luv This Movie SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Much

  • Great movie brilliant entertainment !

  • A real 747 would float for a much longer time

  • Oh, and James Stewart's performance is riveting-

  • NOT!!!!!!

  • Okay, like 6:44 was an awful way to die. Or, ill be just like... COME ON!

  • I LIKE THIS SCENE,BEFOR HIS CRASHING...SUST LIKE THE ENTERPRISE-D LANDING!!!!!

  • Best part of the movie... I would replay this part over and over and over.......

  • Those movie plane crashes are always so stupid

  • You can so tell this is a Universal production. The sound guy is using the exact same sound they use for Steve Austin's bionic stuff

  • its a free underwater cinema, the can view fishes and plants and dead people... really cool , and YES its included in a normal FLIGHTTICKET PRICE xD

  • stupid.

  • well at least the water landing put that pesky engine fire out for good. Stupid pilot all he needed to do was advance power on the 3 good engines and get 100ft of altitude or so, then handle the emergency with the engine fire.

  • WHAT THE FUCK!!! THE WATER IS RLY THAT LOW!?!

  • @M0RGaN98 Huh? How "low" is the water supposed to be? Would it not be at altitude zero, or "sea level"?

  • 5:33 the water would pull the plane in the water because the water kinda eats the weight of the aircraft... specially when the wing contacts the water in the ocean it would just flip over the plane... im not talking about the triangle im talking about every where in the water.... -.- thumbs up if you agree

  • @M0RGaN98 but i dont mean you cant water land the plane.. the water dont eat the aircrafts weight when it touches water flat..

  • Please refrain from moving about the cabin until the plane has come to a complete sunk.

  • I love how the air traffic controllers get impatient and snippy and start tapping the equipment when the plane disappears from the radar. AND, they think it being in the Bermuda Triangle is worth considering!

  • Is that pilot Mike Brady? The Dad from the Brady Bunch? Sure does look and sound like him

  • @sadalite Nah its the hero from 1980s glamor soap Falcon Crest!

  • @sadalite NO robert reed AKA mike brady actually played the pilot in another disaster movie called sst deathflight concorde.

  • lol stupid pilot seems to not know how to use the altimeter or how to turn the engine off if its on fire

  • AEROPUERTO 77- ESTA ES LA MEJOR ESCENA A MI PARECER DE UN ACCIDENTE AEREO EN EL CINE..QUE COOL UN GRAN BOENIG 747 LLENDOSE A PIQUE AL MAR Y SUMERGIENDO CON TODO Y PASAJEROS LO MAXIMO

  • "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking...you are now allowed to crap your pants....thank you"

  • The engine Fire alarm, was this the real warning bell used in the early 747's?, i know the Too low warning buzzer was actually the real autopilot disconnect alarm from the early 747's

  • @OneExoticBoy I believe that was the old engine fire alarm. the other sound was the stall warning horn iirc.

  • wow in never knew 747 charter airlines were indistructible skimming stones

  • "They're in The Bermuda Triangle, I'll try to contact them by radio ! " Too funny.....

  • I don't know why he didn't just bank the plane to the right? Could have avoided it all together?

  • The impact would be 10 times worse in real life as once that tail touched down, the aircraft would have broken up.

  • That must have been that BP oil platform he smacked with the wing. Damnit 23 Sierra!!!....LOL

  • Good Movie..Would be cool if they did a remake.

  • whatever - takes me back me Saturday Matinee as a teen, just love it - along with the whole canon of disaster movies up to, and including The Hindenburg. I travelled all over to see them in 70mm or Sensurround, ace. Big love in my heart too for Bad News Bears, Race With The Devil, Family Plot, Duel, The Car and many more. A great movie era, schlock or otherwise. And no CGI - whoo! Coma, Laura Mars, Alien, Wiz, TGIF, too for sheer imagination and creativity. 3 days of the Condor et al 4 ideas

  • dude, effin'g Chelsy Sullenburger re-set the bar for ALL commercial airline pilots. This crash in his eyes I am quite sure would be deemed totally unacceptable! :)

  • what happens after that?????? i wanna kno pls pls pls :)

  • 4:41 - the alarm sounds like, "AH-AH-AH-AH-AH-Ah-AH-AH-AH-A"

  • WOW !! Jack Lemmon looks HOT with a mustache ! I heard that Lee Grant did not want Edith Head to design her costume , Glad Lee drowned ,she was a wretch.

Hollywood , land of movie make believe .....

  • Sully!!!!! you rule!!!!!

  • This is what inspired Capt. Sully when he decided to ditch his airliner in the Hudson...

  • Thanks for posting this video!!

    Great movie!!

  • Wow great landing ^^

  • This was a good movie but I think they wasted so much time before the crash and not enough time after the palne sank into the ocean

  • it was a classified flying boat 747 which was designed to smuggle supplies to submarines but they cancelled it because it leaked and sold the prototype to a charter airline.

  • lol!!!

  • i love this!!!

  • And the Academy Award for most absurd situation goes to...

[I love these old disaster pics]

  • IT was nominated... Costume Design.. Edith Head..

  • Classic 70's disaster movie! What a Disaster!!!

  • the seas not very deep..

  • Don't see how the plane would sink so fast if it is still full of air.

  • I'm sorry, but that was stupid.

  • That was both impressive and silly.

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I could hear one of the pilots say:

"When Kramer hears about this, the shit's gonna hit the fan...."

  • that is fucking hilarious and unrealistic for a 747 plane to have furniture like that so when it crashes all of it can fly and hit someone in the face. You wont find that now. Everything is bolted to the floor

  • hahahhaha lol and the plane is just flowing....... it would be crashed like pooop!!!! lol unrealistic!!!

  • Well That Was Unrealistic, What Really Would Of Happened To The Boeing 747 is The Same Thing That Would Happen On The ETH 961 Boeing 767 Crash.

  • There is no need to capitalize the first letter of each word in a sentence.

And it's "would HAVE happened", not "would of".

  • I Ment Almost, Well It Might Happen, And I Have A Habit Of Capitalizing Every Word, Dont Know Why LOL!

  • I just realized that the engines got torn off after the second body slam onto the water.

  • Something darkly humorous about their transition from smirking and giggling about the heist to multiple alarms going off...

  • objects inside the plane are launched and hit the paxs..objects are assassins

  • Wait...why did engine #4 catch fire again? It looked like the 747 clipped the tower with the edge of the wing, not the engine....

  • oil pressure was high due to damage to the wing, therefore he ruptured a oil line.

  • THIS WAS A TRULY BAD FLIC, he said they were going 600 mph. and when he hit the tower it looked like they were going 20 mph!!!! LOL, and plus if you are going that fast, the plane would be completely destroyed, IE AIR FRANCE FLIGHT JUST RECENT. Hitting water at 500 plus is like hitting CONCRETE!!!

  • This is a terrible movie. Even one of the actresses who was in it said so. Pamela Bellwood.

  • Hahaha. Not Joseph Cotten! Not Chris Lee! Not Jack Lemmon. Not Olivia de Havilland. But Pamela Belwood! She was good in Dynasty though.

  • plastic plane and ragdoll physics....what can even be better?? :D:D:D:D:D

  • Tough??? It was a 747 that crashed with only one engine out of four out....explain why a '57 Piper Apache can fly with one engine out while a 747 crashes with three going, one out.

Technically a 747 can indeed fly even if they had to shut down Engine 4. just stating how unrealistic the movie was. heck even Iron Eagle was unlikely, but they were both fun movies. movies of this era are more fun the more fake they were.

  • your comment made me laugh considering today a 747 from lufthansa had to go back to frankfurt with 3 engines lol :D

  • Just suspend belief and enjoy. That's waht many but not all movies are for.

  • who cares if it's implausible? it's a great concept - a great problem in a movie - this is the stuff of conflict and despair. GREAT IDEA and beautifully realized.

  • THIS WOULD SOOOOOOO NEVER HAPPEN! LOL! The plane would totally disintegrate upon impact.

  • Well, look what happened in the Hudson river...

  • Yeah, except the plane plane that landed in the hudson, landed gently, while this one slammed into the water multiple times at high speeds, shearing off its engines and bending the wings. its totally different.

  • I know I know, what I tried to say is that it's possible for a plane to land on water

  • LOL! The Poseidon Adventure meets Airport!

  • lol, that's a good description

  • I've seen this movie many times and I love it but the laws of physics here are nonexistant.

  • i was jst annoyed that they used stock footage from 75. but it's cool. after all, they rented a plane for the previous one for the aerial shots and i've seen the stock footage in several movies. I surmise that it's like singers sampling other songs: good in context and if done right. This film was done right!

  • i wank to this

  • WOW, was that a Flat Screen TV hanging off the wall at the end of the crash?!

  • Where's Chesley Sullenberger when you need him. :)

  • have they thought about holding on to something assholes

  • what a hard plane

  • I reenacted this scene in my bathtub about 80 times with and Aurora 747 model! Good times!

  • Yes! Me too. I even had a model 747 painted silver with the red white and blue stripe.

  • @tk421720 Really????? Did u post it on youtube already??

  • @tk421720

    LMAO!!

  • I wonder if this inspired Sully...

  • Yeah - ever since he saw this movie, it was his dream to show the neigh-sayers that a safe water landing in an airliner is indeed possible!

  • Everyone,

My fanedit of Airport '77 is now uploaded and ready. Comments are appreciated!

  • Hokey, but entertaining for an airline nut like me!

  • Something interesting to note. I believe this film is a Universal production. If you listen to the sound effects in this scene almost all of them have been used on the Six Million Dollar Man. Very obviously re-used by the sound guy.

  • I thought this was a documentary.

  • Sure!! in a slow controlled descent!! For sure. Even Boeing says to pilots that if they follow controlled procedure the plane should stay in one piece (On the news today!!). But AP 77 has the plane coming in from cruising speed in complete chaos. And sinking to the bottom while it is full of air defies the laws of physics. If it sank it would have to equalize the pressure and fill with water.

  • He also forgot to reduce the throttles to keep the plane in the air.

  • ....."We have clearance, Clarence.......roger, Roger, what's our vector, Victor?"

  • "Have you ever seen a grown man naked?" "Been inside a prison?"

"Have you ever seen a gladiator movie?"

Hey! How about that? Sparks is a boy dog!"

Was that last line cut out of your dvd version as well?

  • lol!!! Airplane rules!!!

  • This crash sequence is beyond a joke. And Shows to go ya what little movie makers knew about the physics involved in a plane crash. The wing tip would have been ripped off. And the plane entirely demolished on impact with the water. Water by the way, is 5 times more dense than air. For all intents and purposes hitting a brick wall would be softer.

  • I agree with this. Even though it is an interesting plot, it is not scientifically accurate. Any aircraft could not survive impact with water because of the density. But, if it did survive, it would not sink as dipicted because oxygen is less dense than water and the 747 is a giant oxygen bubble. The plane should stay afloat until one of the doors is opened to release the oxygen, which didn't happen when the passengers were rescued.

  • I gues you guys are WRONG !!!!!!! That AWESOME pilot SUCCESSFULLY lande an Airbus A320 in the HUDSON river !!!!!!! It didnt break apart and it didnt sink !!!!!!!

  • This was a huge movie when I was a kid..

  • When is Robert Rodriguez going to make a tribute to one of these disaster movies?

I'm waiting for one of these involving the space shuttle, with campy dialogue and cheap special effects.

  • Well, it's been already done... It's called Airplane II hehehe

  • how do you know its not 757 or 767

  • Neither the 757 or 767 were in commercial use in 1977; it's clearly a 747, as you can tell by the upper level of the cockpit.

  • its weird how this plane body slams the water and stays intact

  • That's a 747 - any aviation enthusiast or pilot would easily recognize it.

  • its clearly a 747 dumbass

  • the 757's cockpit design is much different than a 757 0r 767

  • this plane should of broke apart when it hit the HARD CONCRETE WATER!!! This is not realistic at all. TRULY BAD CRAP!!!

  • ...and wait a damn minute if that 747 is flying 600, when it hit the oil rig, why was it fly SLOW then. AND look at them bad visuals. THIS MOVIE TRULY SUCKED HARD!!!

  • The visuals on this movie are absolutely incredible. The late great Albert Whitlock was responsible for much of the visuals. Compare this movie to "AIRFORCE ONE" and this film is much more realistic looking and believable.

  • the ist 747's built in the 70's were built solid they could take a lot more than the 747's today

  • 'AND look at them bad visuals'

    Lol...its 31 years old.

But yep, the crash is not at all realistic

  • wait a minute, a 747 can't fly 600mph??? NO WAY!!! IDIOTS

  • When I look back at this, the very tip tip of the wing hits the oil rig, yet somehow the engine is affected and the plane goes out of control. Hmm. Just seems kind of odd.

  • DAAAAMMMNNN!!! LOL

  • Best AIRPORT movie EVER !!!!!!,Hell i was born in 1977 !!!

  • Finally, a Jack Lemmon movie without a dopey, lumbering Walther Matthau in tow.

  • so unrealistic...if only planes were this strong...In real life a place would desintegrate in pieces upon impact and the passengers would be dead instantly.

  • We so much needed you to clarify that for us. Thanks.

  • Very deeply I love such old Airplane Catastrophic-Movies. Espectially this one "Airport 77" is my most favourite one. Have seen this movie hundreds of times ago. In the German Language. Thanks for sharing!!

  • Omfg theyre screaming , they should be calm ad dont panic that much so they actually could think about getting out of the plane ...

  • very nice film my brother watch when he have 8 years

  • Robert Foxworth, the guy who plays the co-pilot hijacker, also voiced Ratchet in the Transformers film, just read that from the ending credits.

  • Wish it was a few seconds earlier to show air traffic's PPI indication of the advancing plane. You see the plane number and a vector then after the next sweep it vanishes.

Most clips have started with the oil derrick, so this is better.
