  • Ive been trying to potty train my 2 year old since she was 1 years old. I put her on the potty 3 or 4 times a day so she'd get used to sitting on it. Since she turned 2 we've been keeping her in panties through the day unless were going out or its bed time. She almost never goes to the potty in her toilet. She's always having accidents. I put her on the potty every two to three hours but she never goes in the potty. I can't reward her with candy but I do give her snacks. Any tips.

  • My mom used candy as a reward for going potty for all five of us kids and it worked great! My youngest sister was trained in 3 days. We didn't get candy all the time though so it was a big thing for us. So if your child gets candy a lot anyways, he/she may not want to go potty for it. Anyways, great advice. Not really sure why people have such negative comment about this.

  • Pull ups are awful and awarding a child for going potty is not necessary and quite detrimental. Read Alphie Kohn's book Punish by Rewards.

  • Pull ups are awful!

  • So how is it in Africa little african children just go and dig a hole to poop but American have to go through tons of trouble

  • umm, this advice does NOT work...all my kid did with the pullups was figure out how to un velcro the sides when he pissed in them.he was pulling them up and down for about a week until he noticed they opened up on the side instead of the front, like a regular diaper...i'm glad this stuff worked on your toddler, but frankly, my kid is not a fan of candy.

  • Wow lady you suck!!! Obvious tip huh? Thanks for nothing.

  • It's not Toilet Train, it's POTTY TRAIN!

  • Read "Punished By Rewards" by Alfie Kohn and research Elimination Communication there is a good wikipedia article.

  • id like to see this lady potty train and keep this positive tone....lol

  • omgoodness... I totally disagree giving candy for going potty!!!

  • @francineW1 its just an option god sometimes people can be so exagerated Go boil your kid

  • Starting at age 6months-1 year is best. Waiting the child to walk and talk is stupid. Habits form very early on to assure they make no mistakes.

  • its been a week now potty training my 2 and half year boy and he is not responding at all

he doesnt seam to get the grip of doing it while sitting

please give me some tips we are losing hope

  • @Nightrap I potty trained 2 sons and found that both of them REALLY wanted to pee standing up. I let them pee in a cup, and it was magic. They loved it, and it allowed them to pee standing up. When they were good at it, I started having them pee into a cup over the toilet until they were tall enough to pee directly into the toilet.

  • i tryed all of that and it does not work

  • she didnt show anything, BLAH BLAH BLAH how to toilet train your todler, == BS == just a big plug for pull ups

i have been researching all over the palce, and its all Political polite BS

just show me how to do it already

  • what about that toddlers being potty traind for a year then has to resort back to baby dipers cause they rufuse to go in the potty anymore. im sry but my son now gets introuble for choosing to use his pants rather then the toilet

  • nice video, but you never go into any signs of readiness.

  • Toilet training toddlers is a very nerve racking process - look at it from another point of view....your toddlers. They have no control over those muscles - you are training them how to go to the toilet. Just maintain consistence - be firm. And everything will be FINE...

  • this video was useless. It doesn't tell you what to do if they won't sit or stand.

  • Using lollies as positive reinforcement? Not ideal. Treats are totally fine, but shouldn't be used exclusively as rewards. There's always sticker charts), baking (parent-supervised), playing with playdough, a trip to the park. These are just a few ideas off the top of my head, there's plenty other encouragement and positive rewards.

Not everyone thinks/parents the same way, but at the end of the day, as long as the child is trained, the method doesn't matter, I guess. Just my thoughts!

  • @dwasserfall Your right! Giving your child lollies everytime they use the potty?

  • This is a great vid it really tells me what i did wrong.
