  • very nicely done.

  • nice video but it would be better if it was with english or greek subtitles

  • Also, the 1st wave from Syokaku, Zuikaku, and Zuiho were now 46 miles from the US fleet.

    Major, 2 o'clock, there's movement.

    Must be US atttackers.

Report to Shokaku, that many enemies on their way to you. Make sure look sharp.

    Zuikaku's fighters handle them.

Still able to fly? Now's time to try WEAVE.

  • Send ours in immeadiately.

If we wait for Zuikaku any longer, it will be Midway all over again.

Both sides spotted each other almost at the same time, also sent out attackers respectively.

IJN task force and advance fleet, to which Junyo belong, were aiming for a pincer attack to destroy the US fleet.

The advance fleet was steaming for east, to get close to the enemy.

    0825 a.m.

The task force's vanguard also headed for east by Nagumo's order.

    0914 a.m.

    Junyo's first wave launced.

    All ships, change directions, course270.

    Have fighters handle them.

    Backy, 7 o'clock high, bandits.

Have the 2nd wave haste their preparation.

    They are divided in two.

Like before, they're trying to force us to separate.

Although we're lacking in bombers, using SBDs for reconnaissance, we're to send in everything but fleet guards.

  • IJ Army, to remedy the situation, planned to launch the 3rd offencive to retake the control of the whole island in the middle of October.

In an attempt to support the army, IJ Navy deployed the task forces to the north of Guadalcanal.

On the other hand, the US task forces were also sent to smash their attempt.

    "Made by Tochibayashi"

In 1942, in order to cut off US-Australia supply line, the Japanese forces started construction work of an airfield on Guadalcanal island, which is located southwest to the Solomon islands.

August 7th, only just before its completion, the US forces landed and captured it.

Over 2 months, continuous recapture attempt by Japanese turned into a hellish situation.

  • Has it been translated for the western hemisphere?

  • Animation is top notch!

  • Is this a game?

  • That is great! Awesome work!

  • its from the Philippines right im a filipino?hahahah

  • This Battle was a part of the Guadalcanal Campain

  • This is amazing! Accurate and visually stunning!

  • what the h***, just wondeful piece of work

  • Fantastic work!

  • What game is this

  • @TylerAssady -.- its not a game!

  • Well done!

  • "空母"=CV

    "ガダルカナル"=Guadalcanal

  • Very very well done. Excellent!

  • Although I do not understand Japanese, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It is historically accurate and the CGI is brilliant - Well Done, Sir

  • The surprise dive bombing attack on Zuiho by scout SBDs, both sides' strikes passing each other, the drop tank jamming on the Wildcat, Enterprise's Wilcats breaking off to assist Hornet, the suicide dive on Hornet, & the anvil torpedo attack on Hornet are all accurate.

There are 3 different versions of how Lt. Cmdr. Murata died, so that may be up in the air, & Hornet didn't have 40mms at Santa Cruz. There's nothing out there that's better at the moment. Superlative job.

  • Is this an accurate account of the battle, Or just more japanese propaganda?

  • excellent....!

  • Excellent!

For historical posterity, I wonder if there are any surviving Japanese flight deck members that remember what the flight deck procedures were and the hand signals used to indicate/guide the pilots while on deck. They would be very old now and recording what they remember would be important.

I also am curious if the jamming of the drop tanks on the F4F's was historically chronic.

  • This video is not just a animation, but accurate historic documentary film. I have to hat off to the great job.

  • Nice, very nice....

  • I am trying to put together a documentary on the Air Operations at Midway. I wish I had this guys CGI skills. My hat is off to Mr. Tochibayashi.

  • Absolutely surreal...for all purposes of engaging the mind to that time and era it has certainly surpassed its aim and mission. Well done to whoever created it. Bravo :)))

  • wow at first i thought it was real and then...wow its just awesome

  • ########

    just saying

  • @forcelexus san,

As far as I know, there is no city/town/village named "Tokio" in fucking Japan. I know cities named "Tokyo" and "Kyoto", however. On the other hand, French may spell out "Tokyo " as "Tokio". BTW, you don't need "on" after "bomb"; simply write "bomb Tokyo".

    Study hard, young man.

  • 8:46-10:37 is the best animated sequence I think I've ever seen. Good job! This is amazing

  • WOW! THis is done by one guy??? Or is he the studio boss or something?

  • @Killerplanes a work made alone

  • @Killerplanes san,

I believe this is all done by Mr. Tochibayashi alone, who also made film for Zero. This is one of the "War" series published by Futaba Publishing. These films are in DVD and come with each series (I only have the Zero issue). The title of this issue is "Japan-U.S Aircraft Carrier Duel".

  • BTW, the "series" are books with CG images, actual photos and texts. I do not know of any translated ver. and they are only available in Japan, either at bookstores or on-line vendors (I bought mine at Amazon-JP).

  • @JPN850R Can you get this in a tranlated version?

  • @olentangy74 san,

I do not believe Futaba Publishing sells them anywhere but in Japan (they don't know what they're missing; a huge market worldwide).

Allow me a bit of time, I'll see if I can complete translation over this weekend (Sundays & Mondays are my days off as I work at a U.S airline in Japan and am on shift-based schedule). Translation takes a lot more time & effort than many people think.

  • @JPN850R I am sure that it does. A translated version of this would be a thrill to WW2 history enthusiast the world over. Have a great weekend !

  • @olentangy74 I was just in the middle of transnslating this video when I came back here.

I just hope my follow-on postings would be of some help.

  • @olentangy74 san,

As you can see, someone else volunteered therefore I retire. I'll have an easy, relaxed weekend.

  • Great stuff. Loved the aerial battles. Good animation and great action.

  • The last battle victory of the IJN carrier based air groups.

  • impressive

  • Playstation 4 graphics.

  • ご教授いただきありがとうごいざいます!

    早速詳しく調べてみたいと思います。

  • @lureyes1 That scissor 8 pattern was referred to as the "Thatch-Weave" maneuver, and you're right; the 3-D animation is incredible!!

  • 戦国EXS

  • とっちん、天晴れ!

  • Amazing animation I enjoyed every second of it ;) thanks for posting!

  • This fucin video always gets stuck at 4:56 - WTF is going on?

  • @Artas1984 mine didn't :D

  • Cool video, nice upload

  • ...How about some english narration plz?

  • Beautiful animated :-) ...especially that of attack leader Murata ...where can I get the full movie here in Europe?

  • Best representation that I've ever seen of Santa Cruz . The anvil attack of the torpedo squadrons was spot on. The Japanese carrier flight decl operations were first class. Look at the flight deck officer waving the next Zero forward, and how Lt. Cmdr. Murata looks forward and to the right of his aircraft as he checks for clearance. Really nice details. The best was the salute to Murata at the end of the film. Does anyone have any idea where these CDs can be purchased in the United States?

  • Lightwave?

  • Quality work. Amazing.
