Nina Blanchard, my modeling agent in Los Angeles, called me in Idaho and said, “I want you to fly to Los Angeles to meet the star of The Towering Inferno. He’s thinking about casting you for a part as an Indian princess in his new movie.”
I said, “Nina, I don't know how to act.” She said, “I know, but it's a free trip to Los Angeles, and you never know what might happen. Maybe you’ll get a small part in a movie.”
Barbara McQueen has led an interesting life to say the least. A farmer's daughter, she was raised in Corvalis, Oregon, and by age 18, Ms. McQueen was on her way to becoming a highly-sought after model in New York City, appearing on the cover of Cosmopolitan, Glamour, & Sports Illustrated, to name but a few.
However, it was her initial meeting with future husband Steve McQueen in July 1977 that really altered the course of her life.
