I worked for Rev Ike in Boston. Indeed he was truly a con man. We received all the incoming mail with donations, mostly in cash. It was a message geared to the poor and I thought the stuff was written by comedians. Really, shower caps, paper prayer rugs? He never saw the incoming mail with very personal messages with requests for prayers. I felt bad for many of these people who would send in the LAST of their money. Rev Ike encouraged people to BORROW money to send him and they did.
@trumpetface Well, I don't look at Rev. Ike as a messenger from God to tell the people how to be saved and get into heaven....he preached about wealth and relying on the God given talent that given to us to attract what we want in life...so that is why I admire his message.
@Famfriass There are plenty of legit people out there that teach the power of a positive attitude and how to achieve wealth by believing in yourself. When you do it as a scam in the name of God then you will have questions to answer to the Lord. I am assuming the Reverend had plenty of time to think up some good answers but I am certain it is warm where he is right now.
The message is what's important and if people want to pay to hear it THEN SO BE IT.

Heh,heh. I got on his mailing list years ago and he sent me a "prayer cloth" which was actually a tiny scrap of cloth cut out with pinking shears.

Reverend Ike has gotten rich by exploiting people like him.
As P.T. Barnum said there's one or more like him in every crowd.

Ike sits on the right hand of God? The olace only reserved for Jesus Christ?
Man, are you fooled!
