@ramayogi The first thing you got wrong is Morrisons words were not pop as Ians are. To understand Morrison you would have to of visited the edge a few times. I have an idea you have not. Morrison was light years ahead of Ian Anderson, and I like Jethro Tull.
@jim196869 I don't need to 'peek over the edge' (whatever the hell that's meant to mean) to realize lack of talent. Simply put the Doors have got to be one of the MOST over-rated bands in history. If the 'genius' that was Morrison (LOL) had not killed himself no-one would ever have given a crap about his 'band'.
@celticfan60 The girls used to call your kind (Pop Boys) closed minded kids who listened to AM. Again, not experienced plus I dont think your from our time.
@jim196869 I wouldn't know a pop boy if you hit me with one. Plus your mind has clearly been addled by 'peeking over the edge' and I doubt ANYONE is from 'your time'. If it's any of your business I was born in 1960 and as for 'experienced' I seriously doubt I'd want whatever 'experiences' you're referring to.
Ian always managed to get terrific musicians to play in his band. Look at Glenn Cornick, Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond and Martin Barre for starters - all great! and plenty of others too.
@HackerGuitarist Interesting! I didn't know that. I always thought it was one of Anderson's better vocals. And I love the groove Cornick and Bunker lay down on this tune. Thanks for the info.
Teacher & Witches promise are two of my favorite tull songs. Nice to see a live version after countless listeneings of the studio recordings. The camerman looks like he was on acid or something although the band themselves were rumored never to do drugs when preforming.
I remember "Tull" as one of the best live acts I ever saw.
This was musicianship on a level that we rarely see today. The times were full of some of the best bands in history. From Tull to Yes,Black Sabath,Frank Zappa,Emerson Lake & Palmer, just to name a few.
They were amazing to see and great artist of the day.
Intellectual, though not academic. Real Music = Real Energy. Such energy captures forever, ever since the first time I heard these songs, a week ago now
I have a concert audio, were they do teacher, 75, and a whole buch of other 74-75s that have bungle in the jungle and warchild and stuff, and a 97 DVD and audio ffroim the same venue, that has a bungle in the jungle, minstrel in the gallery, and teacher medley. Its pretty awsome!
Too bad the quality is bad, on the 25th anniversary there is a SUPERB, quality one on it. But you have to wach the whoole dvd to see it, as a bonus track.
I have the 25th Anniversary Collection dvd, but can anyone tell me WHERE on the disc the French tv version of "The Witch's Promise" is hidden? I can't find it anywhere!
I'll have to look it up on Google then. I've watched through the whole dvd, past the end of the credits for both the main section and the bonus tracks section and it just doesn't seem to be there on my copy. Thanks for the tip though. I'll have another look anyway. Perhaps I'm just being Thick -- As A .....
umm...Judging by your screenname I would assume you are indeed a big Tull fan. Please Explain one instance where this song is STUPID or where they are doing anything beyond perfection?? Thanks
ps. Underwraps is a horrid mockery of what this the Tull in this video stood for.
NO NO NO!!! I love the song teacher, but this is the uk single, before the record company said, "Ian if you want more money, play the flute the us one." So then they re-recorded the soing for a certain US opinion. And they turned out doing a lip sync for it, so they have a No flute, wich I personaly, I don't know what any of you might say, I like the flute one much better, so I finaly found a video for it. NOW I HAVE ONE WITH AND WITHOUT FLUTE!!! Get it now?!

@jim196869 Morrison was a talentless clown who had not one ounce of the talent Iain Anderson has in abundance.

@celticfan60 There are people like you that just aren't experienced. If you never peeked over the edge, you cant know.

This not a live track. Note no mics anywhere on the drums. They probably recorded this track without flute and then lip-synced to it.

@dougalmac54 the original single does not have flute ,, they added it on the album,,, Anderson hated this song for some reason.

This song always kicked ass for me. Tull has never been imitated or duplicated. A true original

And since there's a time code... this is from some archive that's not available to the public. NICE FIND.
