More bow, indeed! Heifetz must have been asking that, like, 15-20 times, and yet that student didn't listen and remained quite stubborn... even his icy glare at 2.03 (quite a frightening stare Heifetz could produce) didn't help. Even dry humour didn't work! After that, he just gave up...

Heifetz was like a machine... what a bad teacher, unable to express what music really is, cold and always beating... never speaks about how to achieve a beautiful line, about music history
the student played very well especially when you take into consideration he was playing in front of one of the best and renowned violinists at that time. as much as I like heifetz, he doesn't exactly show a very friendly, warm presence.
He played well, but I do agree with Heifetz that he should have slowed down a bit on certain passages. He shouldn't be in a hurry to get to the end. Overall, however, he played very well -- very, very well.

@MrTheComposer He was really trying to fix this student's problem - more bow, which solves a lot of expression issues.
