  • This game + Secret of Mana = THE BEST

  • Damn! No Lavos last form music.

  • 2:02... OH MAN THE MEMORIES! It gives me goosebumps.. so many good times playing this game. Best RPG of all time. You scrubs can have your FF7, Chrono Trigger was the best.

  • @bobbyewing311 Oh no differing opinions! /s Besides, Chrono Trigger never came out in Europe, sadly, so no childhood memories of this for me.

  • I still have this game :-) No idea where the SNES ended up, but I could never stand to toss out Chronotrigger.

I remember the music at Magnus's castle used to scare me, I would always have to get up and turn on a light when I would get to that part.

  • @lyricsma If you don't plan on getting another SNES Chrono Trigger goes for a good amount of money on ebay.

  • one of the best rpg in my childhood, opened my eyes to the role playing genre

  • 2:23 almost brings a tear to my eye

  • 8:15 is my favourite track. :D

  • dream of dreams chrono trigger 2 for PS3

  • There's just too many amazing songs on this soundtrack to count

  • WTF 2 people didnt like the video, this is my favorite soundtrack ever

  • all-time best game every made.... runner ups are secret of mana and final fantasy 3 (6).

  • its not rick roll'ed at 6:10 its robo roll'ed haha =D chrono style!!! (^.^)b

  • I love this game.

  • 4:23-5:01

Greatest piece of music in video game history! Nostalgic, epic, legendary, heroic and slightly bittersweet. All in one.

  • Magus Theme is one of the best songs ever composed for a videogame. And since this is one of the greatest videogames ever created, that must be a plus.

  • This game put Yasunori Mitsuda on the map for me as "new composer to watch". Haven't regretted it since, then. Chrono Cross's soundtrack is just as beautiful and even side works like Kirite (gorgeous) are as mesmerizing.

Favorite song in CT for me, though: To Far Away Times. I always feel like I'm on the Epoch myself and somehow, it's so bittersweet and beautiful and inspiring. Can't get enough of it.

  • First game I ever played and definitely my favorite rpg

  • Chrono Trigger still has the best soundtrack around.

  • Best soundtrack ever for the best game ever. Too bad you can't fit them all in 10 minutes. :)

  • Best game i ever played. just everything about it the characters, story, music, battle system, i mean this game is just so perfect i cant even think of any flaws the game has. i cant even give the game a 10/10. more like a 9999999/10. Chrono Trigger forever <3

  • @slitheryjuggler94 Fuck yeah! Chrono Trigger forever. Has been my favorite game since I first played almost ten years ago and still to this day I it's my favorite.

  • This is the best game ever. Best plot, best music........absolutely epic . Really makes me sad there was never a worthy successor

  • Best. Game. Ever.

  • Memories of Green. Best piece of music arguably of all time in an RPG.

  • CHRONO!!! Hahaha. I loved this game many, many moons ago.

    -H-

  • what's the song @ 4:24?

  • @flamingchen it's frog's theme

  • I freaking fell in love with this games sound track the minute I saw an lp of this game

  • Amazing how wonderful this game was (still is) and how much the music adds to it. The game by itself would have been great, the music by itself is great but together... perfect.

  • Best game ever

  • @lavosbr

    Amen to that

  • This game and it's sequel have the best music ever to appear in videogames, no doubt about it!

  • Favorite game of all time <3

  • the black wind howls at 7:00

  • they ported this to ds not long ago ..... :o

i didnt get a chance to play it on the snes...... HOWEVER i played the ds version ;D

  • i play this game frequently just to hear 8:16

  • the track that starts at 2:00 is NUTS!!!!!

  • Does anyone else hear some Frank Zappa in the track @ 3:40 ?

  • Greatest RPG to date :D

  • Lol. @ 6:09 I thought we were getting rick rolled in 16 bit.

  • That's another B button broken.I mean, just stop running man!

  • @sunnyfinny It's definitely very 80's, that's for sure.

  • 6:53 Probably the best tune in the game favorite tune in this game. So epic and full of win :) Thumbs up if you agree.

  • 6:05 - Does this song remind anyone else of "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley?

  • @daschwarjazz yes

  • Comment removed

  • @DevilTakeMe Haha. Yeah, right after I posted my comment I found those videos. It's amazing how many composers "steal" from others even if they don't mean to.

  • @daschwarjazz lol Garudoh rick roll'd us!

  • @kishire6murcielago haha indeed

  • @daschwarjazz

I was unknowingly rickrolled all this time? TT__TT

  • @daschwarjazz OH SHIT! lol square trolled us with this game saying "we'll never make anything as good as this" :(

  • @daschwarjazz You sir...just got Robo rolled.

  • @Dreamewalker Rocket rolled! ;)

  • @daschwarjazz No, it's his other song. Whatever it's called... Forever, and ever, da da da da but I'm loving you. Or some shit like that.

  • @daschwarjazz THAT my friend, is called "Robo Roll'd" and we all have been robo roll'd lol

  • HEY! where's "to far away times"!?

  • BEST GAME EVER!!!

  • 2 people couldn't beat Gato at the fair.

  • does anyone else think the guy who put all these videos together is one of the most amazing people ever?

  • The Anime series was better

  • @DataCollaborate Are you talking about Chrono Crusade? You're an idiot. Chrono Crusade and Chrono Trigger/Cross have nothing to do with each other, except for the word and name "Chrono."

They are apples and oranges. You're comparing a video game to an anime/manga series. No correlation or comparison.

  • @DevilTakeMe sry ..maybe i have false spoken ...the Manga Books ..not anime ..(just confused it) ..

  • @DataCollaborate You're still confused then, because there's no Chrono Cross manga, and the Chrono Trigger manga is only about 9 or 10 pages long and was included in the game guide.

On the other hand, Chrono Crusade was both a fantastic anime and manga series. But you still can't compare the two.

  • *tears* :(

  • Square needs to vomit out the Enix it ingested and get the original developers back together.

  • @MengoMango

this game was a combination of square and people from enix. ....just look at the art its akira toryima and he otherwise worked for enix(dragon quest) back in the days.

  • No Jurassic Rhythm?

  • Personally I will never get tired of playing this game. I still bust out my SNES occasionally and some classic games, but this one will always be in my top three. Long live Chrono Trigger!

  • It's not just that this game was so brilliant musically and graphically, it's that it introduced concepts that were completely original, the interlinking battle system, the ability to actually affect the timeline and events that took place in the game, the main protagonist that didn't have lines, but simply emoted. This game tossed you beautifully into pure immersion, sweeping you into the crisis the characters underwent, and doing it with perfection and artistic splendor. Perfect 10.

  • Marle's 'Portrait' always seemed *really* outta place among all the others. She looks like a monster in that thing!

An inside joke from the 'dream team' perhaps?

  • where did all the good rpg's go? oh, that's right... most of them died out with the snes and genesis...

  • @Ese1Pac I second that. You will never find a better list of great RPGs. Sad when you consider they could make such a grand scale of RPG now with these new systems and the storage medium games come on.

  • this game was great, but secret of mana is still the greatest

  • @hazmat151

*Cough* Terranigma *Cough* Final Fantasy VI *Cough*

Geez, something must have flown into my throat...

  • @RiderAndKallen Chrono Trigger was definitely better than Terranigma and FFVI. Secret of Mana was slightly worse simply because it lacked depth and Chrono Trigger's musical score (though many SoM scores are highly memorable). The tech system is also brilliant.

  • Why the hell would you vote this down anyways?

  • 6:00 you've been rick roll'd!

  • I used to like Frog the best, but now I like Magus more. Have I turned evil as I have gotten older? Lol

  • We're playing some of the music from Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross in my band class. I love the music in these games! :DD

  • i always loved the first song.

  • Such an awesome game! this game and Castlevania IV made me want to own a SNES. (l was a Sega Megadrive guy)

come on square stop making FF games and give us another Chrono game :)

  • @1shoryuken

No i dont want the Chrono series to have the "Enix" taint

  • i think i saw a DS remake of it somewhere

  • @nintendude4199

you bet your ass you did, on the nintendo ds. it's only $20 new at my local gamestop! still on my wish list

  • @nubbinnoob well i know what to do with 20$

  • Thank you for putting these videos up Garudoh. And do be careful of any princess rescuing elves!

  • i was a late comer to this game. First time I played it was on an emulator seeing that I had a Genesis and a Sega CD growing up. All my friends told me I needed to play it on the original system and not the new release. They were totally right, the music is actually better than the update!! Too bad I missed this little gem when it was it released, I can honestly say, they havent made a game with such a grand scope for along time.

  • OMG... i'm litterally crying listening to the music.... so many good memories!!! playing it was one of the best time had so far~ oh my god, how can the music be so darm good!!! T.T

  • magus themegives me goosebumps

  • I busted a nut everytime i heard the magus tune

  • @tortondo haha lol! guess you really like it!

  • Hope I can be forgiven for my sacrilege, in relating Chrono Trigger to the lamest most uncool gingery thing on earth, but from 6:11 on for about 30 secs, sounds a bit like the Rick Roll'd tune...........

  • Once again, another perfect example of how the SNES soundchip BLOWS AWAY the Mega Drive/Genesis by miles and miles. The SNES soundchip is not on another planet, but another damn galaxy!

One of the greatest, if not THE greatest RPG of all time.

  • @nintygaming

THE greatest. Followed in a VERY close second by Secret of Mana, and an EXTREMELY close 3rd by Super Mario RPG. What console were all three of those games on again? Oh that's right, THE GREATEST CONSOLE EVER CREATED!

  • @jarannalli

The greatest console ever created? You are right sir. The only way the SNES could be beat, is if the Wii released on its Virtual Console service ALL of the greatest SNES games. Too bad this will never happen, seeing as how the VC is getting cancelled soon.

  • @nintygaming

Thanks for agreeing with me. What I love about SNES is this:

Name 10 great games. It won't take you long.

Now, name 10 more great games. Didn't take you long did it?

Bet you could name 10 more with no sweat.

    I love my SNES.

  • @jarannalli

I could name you more than 80 great games for the SNES, and possibly 100 or more if I really tried. And if you include imports, the list grows even greater. Never again will such a console be made.

  • @nintygaming

    Yes, it's very unfortunate.

I fear even Nintendo themselves will be unable to exceed or even again reach the wonder that was SNES. ESPECIALLY now that Nintendo home consoles hardly get a FRACTION of the support that they used to from third parties as well as most video game enthusiasts. But there will always be people like you and me to keep Nintendo in business and hope for a future that holds what our past once did.

  • @nintygaming

...after the first year or two of wii, I started to get worried. But after the last two E3's, I believe Nintendo is coming back to their senses and not only giving it back to the gamers, but also nodding to the old schoolers that have kept their company alive for so long. What with old school revivals coming back and treating their evolved franchises with old school gameplay.

But they also need to get the third partiy greats behind their back again. Here's hoping.

  • @jarannalli

Yea I'm looking forward to the new Kirby and DK Country games, but I'm still not seeing enough.

Nintendo has a long way to go.

I do enjoy alot of the new casual games, but 90% of them are shovelware.

WiiWare is "trying" to still the Virtual Console's glory, but it just cannot be done, dispite Nintendo forcing the VC out of the spotlight.

I will continue to support Nintendo though, even if its via renting at Gamefly. Still to this day, nobody does 1st party games like them.

  • @nintygaming

Yeah, I agree, they have a long way to go. But it looks like they are at least back on track. That being said, they will never be on top again until they get those third parties behind their back again. I know third parties are making some games for wii. But they are not even the top tier ones. I mean the fact that capcom made the umbrella and darkside chronicles instead of giving us an adapt of re5 says a lot. Same with final fantasy and so on.

  • @nintygaming

I mean, I don't want to look forward to "and this is the version for the wii owners. I wanna play my favorite third party games on my favorite console. JUST like the old days.

  • @jarannalli

Oh my goodness, I forgot about FFIII (VI) how could I have done that? Perhaps SMRPG is a very close 4th? haha

  • what the fuck 6:04 rick james?

  • FF6 is better.

  • @Renegen1 NO U

  • Comment removed

  • still have the whole CD collection soundtrack in the house lol

man i used to cut school tryin to end this game...a friend got me into givin this game a chance. after that i really started liking those turn based RPGs...this game is a hand down classic in the ranks

  • is this Chrono Trigger from NES ? SNES ? or PS1 ? either way i wanna play it now XD

  • @bllllood It was originally for the SNES, and then there was a PS1 release, and just a couple years ago, a Nintendo DS release.

  • this making wanna cry listening to this music again. So many fond memories so many good game back then.

  • This is still my favorite rpg of all time. Wow....even after all these years I still am in awe of how great this game was.

  • I've played this game so many times and have some of my fondest memories playing this and FFIII (FFVI in Japan). Is it weird that I have such an emotional attatchment to these games?

  • @CappitranoBellephant Not at all.

  • Gotta say that this is hands down one of the best games of all time.

  • dont know the game, but damn thats some good music

  • Wow.. A Rick Roll in video-game music. I didn't expect that. xD

  • OMG 6:10 rickrolled

  • @sasskee

    That's Robo's Theme, dammit.

  • I love this game as well as the boss battle theme.

  • ive played this 2 or 3 times. And im down to play it till the day I die.

  • 6:10 Disco Fever!!!

  • @BushidoMH His theme FTMFW

  • This was one of the best games ever created...seriously. I think even thought they try to emulate...usually its only a copy and a shadow of the original!

  • Chrono Trigger is a masterpiece in the RPG genre :D ...

  • Haha, I looked up at 6:10 and thought I got rick rolled.

  • @craycpanda lmao yeah I noticed that a while ago and found someone had actually made a youtube vid that combined the two..

  • @craycpanda Robo-Rolled

  • whats the last song played ive been looking for it forever:D!!!

  • A Timeless Classic that is to be on the short list of any RPG lovers favorites.

  • Don't want to start a major argument but I really think that final fantasy 4 (us 2) is better than final fantasy 6 (us3). Final fantasy 4 was simpler and more compelling. 6 was also a great game but I felt that there was at time too much going on.

  • @imrannova haha, you get thumbs down for having an opinion!

  • Gosh, this game really brings back memroies. One of the best games out there, IMHO.

  • I love the Corridor of Time, that music is so enchanting.

  • I totally agree; it's one of the best tracks in the game.

  • WE'RE NO STRANGERS TO LOVE

  • YOU KNOW THE RULES, AND SO DO I.

  • The only RPG's from the 16 bit era that could eveen think of standing shoulder to shoulder with this game are games like Phantasy star 4, Final Fantasy 3 (6).

  • you forgot Secret of Mana

  • is this thing on wii cause if it is im getting a wii lol even though i have it on snes and ds lawl

  • Chrono Trigger is a real masterpiece, and easily one of the best of the 16-bit era. If it's not the true epic scope of the game (from the dawn of civilization to the End of Time), it's the great characters, seamless combat, minigames, sidequests and the atmosphere every single step of the way.

"Corridors of Time" - the Kingdom of Zeal theme is probably one of the most memorable from the whole game.

  • amen to that!

  • double amen

  • @DevilTakeMe Yeah, I love this game too, but don't lie. The combat is hardly seamless. You bump into an enemy, then start combat, where the controls are entirely different from regular-running-around play. Sure, it's fun and easy gameplay, but seamless is absotutely the wrong word. Seamless is things like Zelda, where the controls and scenarios are exactly the same when fighting as when not.

  • @TheToast7 I disagree. CT is quite seamless, as opposed to other RPGs of the time, where the transition between overworld travel and combat screens is pretty abrupt, and not integrated into the same screen?

Even RPGs that came after CT still jumped between the gameworld and what was more or less a 'combat room.' CT put the enemies on the field that you're actually playing on.

I do get what you're saying though, but that's a more modern understanding of 'seamless' - technology moves on.

  • @DevilTakeMe I would say the Frog theme is the most memorable, but that's just me =)

  • 6:11 is the Rick Roll music!!!!!

  • Well, finished up (quickly) with SMS, so now it's on to SNES. And what a great game to start it off with, too!

Chrono Trigger is and will always be my favorite video game. Everything about the game is flawless, from the characters to the storyline to the graphics to the battle system.. And of course it has my favorite soundtrack ever. Schala's Theme just gets me every damn time; There's just so much heart-wrenching emotion in that song.

  • The best rpg of all time T_T

  • I was given this game as a gift from my cousin. He really introduced me to RPGs in general. Thanks, cousin! :D

  • every few years I've just got gotta play through chrono again. It's really like an old friend and never dissapoints! glen ftw

  • watch?v=NZ20N6syuwc&feature=channel_page

BTW who is the guy in your favorited videos, the one teaching.

  • Best battle musik ever.

  • man chrono trigger was one of the best back when it came out and it is still one of the best games still

  • iam playing it now is it really that great?

  • it really is that great, its like the final fantasy series they are still great to this day as well

  • I waited and waited for the price to go down on this when it first came out. Then, after begging my friend to let me borrow it MONTHS after it came out, I played through it, and ended up tearing up at the end because everything in the game was so well orchestrated. The story was well written, the music complimented the gameplay, and it was beautiful. I never experienced anything like that with a video game, ever.

  • You should play FF6

  • YES

  • Ah yes when Squaresoft would only create EPIC games. I turned away from Square after the PSone era.

  • This game... I got it on my eleventh birthday which was August 95... I got hooked instantly, it taught me so much English and the melodies... In this day when I have learned to play the piano, I mostly play these tunes and get so nostalgic... I was young, but the alternate quest scene when Glenn confronts the ghost of Cyrus and gets his final weapon, it might be silly but first and only time a video game made me cry... Epic emotions x_x

Magus fight is my favorite tune...

  • always thought this was a fighting game ( because you know " chrono -trigger- " ) but once i got around to playing it, fucking EPIC!!! 10/10

  • for some reason i thought it was a racing game...and deliberately stayed away from it. boy was i wrong

  • Want this for my SNES!

  • Gotta say some more! Everything about this game just bleeds production values - I really wish more games were like this, especially with art direction. The areas are so vibrant and well detailed, not to mention the characters themselves. I suppose this is rare, though, with some of the best people in the video game world collaborating on one game...truly special.

I'm thankful that I can experience classic games like this many years later, thanks both to virtual console and re-releases

  • This is an amazing game! I've been plugging away at it for a while, now, and I'm at the part with the mud imp...dammit! He just ran away, the tricky bugger - healed himself every time I touched 'im. Took care of the red and blue beasts, first.

Anyways, yeah! SO glad I got this game...$36, I think, at Walmart (everything's a LOT cheaper, there...at least for games. Got Resistance 2 for $30, modern warfare sp. edition for $35 and Killzone for $50 - gotta love the price drops)

    Get this game!

  • I wasn't aware the Mud Imp could run away. o_0

Get ready for a wicked boss fight on the top of Mt. Woe! ^_-

  • Yeah, no kidding...that monster kicked my ass! Finally bested him, though - lots of healing required. Just met up with Magus, pretty sure I'm near the end of the game
