@ethalinia i'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. when i saw it live, i was really hoping for her to belt that part (like i think she does in the video), but when she did it, it was definitely not. however, it wasn't head voice either; it was definitely mixed. i do believe that it's impossible to carry full chest voice up to a high F, if it's placed far enough forward and is enough space is used, than the tamre can be that of a belt.

@cdmsinger I just listened to it again, this note sounds stronger than the recorded version, you're right... but the quality of the video is just not that good :) I think she probably could belt the note but she just didn't because her vocal cords wouldn't be able to take it... just like the famous Elphaba-belt in Defying gravity is mostly sung in mixed voice because belting 8 times a week is not that healthy...

theres doubles for Ariel as well..... when she turns back into a mermaid on broadway. it dosnt happen in denver. lol .... and Sierra's double is really noticable of not being her. lol

shes doubled when she turns into a human in "Poor unfortunate souls" then at the end when her 3 days as a human are up, they go under water fast, and they bring out an other Ariel double. the Double dosnt speak or look at the audience she just trys to wiggle outta the eels clutches..... then when ariel leaves the scene the "real" ariel comes back and shes in her mermaid costume. ..........when i saw it in NYC the double's wig was much shorter, and the double was bigger than Sierra Boggess.

That's most likely what happened. I think they use doubles several times in the show.

the drowning Eric is a double. Ariel gives him air, and pushes him back up to the surface, then Sean comes outta a trap door whih maes it look like Ariel pushed eric up the the surface.
