I was there and, I was 12 and my Uncle was an usher at Calvary Downey so we were sent backstage between shows and we were too shy to meet the guys but we were in awe as they walked by.
Wow i was actually at this show.. I remember it so well.. I got convicted because i went to this concert like i did every concert back then stoned... I remember I fealt the Lord's presence and it really made me feel bad for getting high before the show!! I had caught a bible and i lost it somewhere thru the years
My names Lenny!!!! i was @ all the stryper shows they gave @ calvaty Chaple school due too that i use to attend Calvary Chaple School until i got kicked out for bringing heavy metal music, shirts, magazines and so on and so on,,,I was a reble and true to heavy metal ...Guess what i m 38 and i m still rockin.."SLAYER" as for Stryper they were the bomb back then and as far as im concerned i listen today and i could say, i m glad too be able too say I WAS THEIR!!!!!!!
Wow...awesome!! Great memories! I live in Idaho now but I grew up in Downey CA and was a teenager in the 80s and I loved Stryper...awesome tune...thanks for the post!
To me, Calvary Chapel will always be known as The Golden West Ballroom. That's what this same place was called when Van Halen, UFO, Foreplay, Evolution, Rick Derringer, and Eulogy played there.
Wrong. The Golden West Ballroom was on Studebaker Road in Norwalk. The Calvary Chapel was an old White Front department store when I was a little kid. I was at this show by the way. See Ya! Ron McGovney
I was there!! Had a blast!
