The first time i saw it, it took 5 or 6 songs into the set and I went "no, it can't be" then"Holy shit, they're doing it!". One of the greatest bands ever, and I had the privilege of seeing basically all of their early shows in Boston/Cambridge.

i realize i am the minority. but i have listened to their later work, thats how i know i dont like it. there are three songs that i enjoy by the beatles. while my guitar gently weeps, helter skelter, she came in through the bathroom window. thats it. compared to a band like the pixies whom have not produced three songs that i Dont like. "moved music forward greatly", what a nonsense statement, a generic stigma touted by popular opinion, makes the criminally over-rated band even less atractive.

I disagree that their music is easy stuff. It might look easy to play (not too fast, straightforward rhythms etc) - but I've seen countless people try to duplicate it, and they never come close, (myself included) so there must be something very tricky about getting it right!

And that's before we even get on to the composition of the songs themselves, which are original, catchy and really exciting. I promise, that's not an easy thing to do!
