  • @NCTaikoDrumboy

Thank you very much for your interest in their performance!!

Their team name is “Tip-Top”, which is the professional group of “Hanabusa-daiko (英太鼓)" in Tokyo. I’m also a member of “Hanabusa-daiko”.

HANATIP is not a member of “Tip-Top”. But she belongs to one of the groups of the subculture of “Hanabusa” and gets coaching from them .

Do you live in the USA? "Tip-Top" will go to Canada and the USA in next year. I do hope you enjoy live their exiting performance!!

  • @hanabusaentaro As my username implies, I do live in the USA. I am a resident of North Carolina and a founding member of this state's first taiko drumming group. We first came together in 2002, and we will celebrate our tenth anniversary in a year and three months. We are Triangle Taiko, and we take our name from our home, the three cities of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. All three cities are home to large universities. Three cities, three schools... that's the "Triangle."

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy Wow!! You are a Japanese drums player, too!! I’m glad to get to know an overseas taiko drummer like you. It's such a great thing to come into action for almost ten years. Triangle Taiko, that’s a nice name.

Hanabusa (英) means tip-top in Japanese. The founder has named “Hanabusa-daiko” or “Tip-Top” with having in mind to go to the top of not only taiko drumming groups but all arts in the world.

I would like to go to North Carolina with my peers and play taiko drums with you.

  • @hanabusaentaro Yes, I play taiko. I thought that my username, "NCTaikoDrumboy" would be a clue to that fact. When we celebrate our tenth anniversary, I want it to be a special occasion... with a cake and all the trimmings.

We went through several name ideas before choosing "Triangle Taiko."

So Hanabusa wants to be "tip-top" in taiko? Good luck with that, but you have lots of competition!

Please come to North Carolina someday. We would surely welcome a visit from you and your friends!

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy

Of course we fully understand how difficult it would be to be tip-top among such powerful competitors (including you!), but that’s what make it all the more exiting!

I told members of Tip-Top about you and “Triangle Taiko”, and then they said “We would like to go to North Carolina and meet them so much in next year!!” So, maybe it will really come true.

We hope that we have links with people all over the world through playing the taiko.

  • @hanabusaentaro "Powerful competitors?" I will freely admit we have learned much in many ways since our founding, but we are hardly competition for Hanabusa.

Triangle Taiko is still trying to maintain and add to its core group of experienced players.

When I said "lots" of competition," I was talking about groups like YAMATO, TAO, KODO, ONDEKOZA, Hono'o Daiko, Osuwa Taiko, Warabi-Za, Oedo Sukeroku, Kirishima Kumen Daiko, Wakana and other professionals. Do you really think you're ready?
