  • I Never heard if changing a D-Loop twice a year....It shouldn't stretch

  • These are really great videos I use almost all your tips check out my channel and subscribe PLEASE..

  • Your my friggen hero. So Simple but helpful!

  • Hey I saw a tip on another vid where you actually mushroom out the ends before you "burn" it. so like fray it before putting the flame on it. That way it makes the little hard nob nice and big without it burning. Just thought it would help.

  • hey manthanks this really helped ima gona make a video responce and you can see what i did

  • Great video! I just tied my first D-Loop!

  • I cut it at 4 inches now its no good

  • good video on tieing it but that is not 4 inches of string.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • Cool tutorial. Thanks!

  • Should i put a nock point at the top of the D-loop

  • Phew... thanks a bunch pal saved my day. didnt have time to take my bow to a smith and this was very easily followed and understandable. thanks again

  • That's great thanks

  • I like your site.Very easy to understand. If you have any bow or crossbow related tools or accessories for sale please email me at rayeve@bell.net Thaks,Ray

  • The loop won't slip at all

  • great vids man..thx alot...

  • I like the video but when i tie the loop and shoot a few times the loop ends up faceing the front of the bow. dont know why its twisting on me like this

  • can you use this d loop on a recurve?

  • aren't you putting the lighter to close?

  • A soldering gun works really well and you have precise controll of the heat.

  • Is there any advantage or disadvantage in putting 2 brass nocks on the string first and than tying the D loop above and below the two brass nocks? This was suggested on the back of the box my D loop material came in.

  • what is better for all arrows sizes a bristled rest or a drop down rest

  • hey how do you no when the arrow is level on the string is it just a good guess or you measure can someone tell me

  • what the hell is that 8 point thing on the right screen and his left shoulder in the beginning of the video?? BADASS!!!! O and nice video there is no wrong way just preferance,i like to do them opposite each other because it helps keep both knots very tight.

  • I see you! HA HA HA

  • I see you! HA HA HA AHA HAHAHAHHA

  • nice pony tail

  • Can i just use paracord? or bankline?!

  • @Snowborda4life i use 5/16 chrome tow chain it never wears out haha!!

  • great video.......I tie mine the same way..except I put 1 extra know on each side....

  • why should you set it high for fletchings?

  • Great video!!!

  • Kenny been messing with my first bow your vids are the best. I was trying to figure out why you want to set D Loop high for arrows with fletchings. From someone who is just beginning in the world of bowhunting and archery in general, I would think that the arrow would need to be level no matter what you use(fob or fletching). What is the reasoning? I noticed mine was set this way so thats why I searched your video to figure it out.

  • ive seen fob's in several vid's of your i guess you really like them??

  • Thank you. You're very informative to someone trying to do some stuff at home instead of the shop.

  • Sickem Kenny, SICKEM. Hey I pulled a D loop off and old string. Whom ever did it did the D 1 1/2 times, You ever do it that way. As per customer request; I guess. By the way you have helped me set up 2 bows in the past week with your vid's. I sure do like my new Rytera, it replaced a new bowtech, wich replaced and old pse. Is this true Pull Shoot EXPLODE!!!!!!!?????

  • sorry about that i was wrong it take 3 strands of string not 4 i looked at it wrong lol but one always seems to get in the way.

  • I"m not sure what the name of the sight is but mine uses 4 strings evey time i pull back my bow it seems as if the sight turn alittle more , then soon enough one piece of the string is inline with my sights and i can't see through them any more unless i swist the string. my question is would the D loop help keep it straight? if not please let me know or make me a how to vid to show me how to fix it , thanks again...

  • Does it matter what side the tag end is on?

  • Comment removed

  • Zajefajny filmik!!!:)

  • Great tutorial.........except....the loops need to be oposite of each other. the way it is tied in the video is incorrect.

  • @Bohtr Actually there is no right or wrong way to tie it. Since its made from string the loop will flex and so does the string, another myth BUSTED! LOL

  • @grttaxi I'm not near the expert you are, however I have knowledge from an unrelated issue on why I know that Bohtr is correct actually. The string will flex but it will still be pulled laterally a slight bit upon release. This will cause the string to undulate the same way it would if it was released by fingers rather than a mechanical release. This is probably VERY minor but in theory he is correct. Thanks for your vids, they're among my favorite for straight forward good info.

  • @Bohtr And the D loop string is more like 6 inches, not 4.

  • @Bohtr You are correct. The loop should come out on opposite sides of the string.

  • @Bohtr lef handed or right handed...perhap

  • @Bohtr what do you think about aluminocks. I'm just getting back into bow hunting and setting up my new bow. I used to use one before. Thanks and i like the info in your videos

  • Great job! Thanks

  • Thanks Kenny!

  • Kenny, how well does the plastic QAD Ultra-Nok II do compared to the hand tied D-loop?

  • @588158 That thing seems to mechanical to me I would worry about failure or something weird happening good ole nock to string with a string D loop

  • I tried a QAD Ultra-Nok - after half a dozen arrows I was wondering why I was losing paint off the bow - the answer was the metallic d-loop as hitting the riser with each shot!! This was on a Hoyt Katera (small-ish brace height). I wouldn't consider using one again - and the d-loop rope is very easy once you try ...

  • when i did my D loop i used my sodering gun and it works better then a lighter to melting the ends

  • when i did my D loop i used my sodering gun and it works better then a lighter to melting the ends

  • I just smashed my mouth, split lips, blood & all due to a D-loop giving way.

Going to tie my own from now on & your video is a great help. Thank you.

  • very good video. keep it coming. sure well save your butt in the forest.

  • thank you again for all of your helpful videos

  • I told that there are more than one diameter of D loop material available. what diameter to you use?

  • Thank you! I have a question about selecting arrows. I am looking at some Easton carbon arrows and dont under stand what spine size I should use. I have an Oneida Aero-force bow with a 26 1/2 inch draw set at 50 lbs. The arrows I am looking at 27 1/2 inch Easton Powerflight Arrows with 4inch vanes offered in spine 300, 340, 400 and 500.

  • Grttaxi, Is the purpose of using a D loop to reduce the wear on the bow string when using a release? I am just getting into archery and have used Oneida areo force bowthat has just been rebuilt to my draw length. Is there anything special I have to do to set the position of the D Loop? By the way, Your video clips are excellent and verry well presented.

  • @588158 Yeah it reduces string wear and it also gives the arrow a push directly from behind rather than rocking in without the loop. The loop should be set level on the Onida if the limbs are in time meaning they both stop at the same time when you draw. Hope this helps, have a GREAT seaon!

  • @grttaxi Dude whats the pink thing behind your nock?

  • @588158 I am told that there are more than one diameter of D loop material available. what diameter to you use?

  • Thank you very much it was very helpfull! :)

  • It looks like the black D-loop material has a core to it, and the other stuff looks like it's all braided. Is one better than the other? Great instructions as always - thanks!

  • Hi,

das ist cool....kannst du auch zeigen wie man die Sehne für den Compound Bogen macht

  • Great video. Very explicit. Does anyone ever use a double cinch knot to secure a d-loop?

  • where all the big bucks go when they die ............sounded pretty cool

  • great video! thanks!

  • nice video im 13yr old and this is my first yr bowhunting so ya i have a martin a older one but it works i used a football shoe lace it seems to work ok. i was wondering if there was a tool or something i could buy to find out what weight my bow is set at?

  • Good video.

  • could u use a heated screw driver to burn the ends save settin them alight??

  • Thank you. Much appreciated.

  • Many thanks...great stuff...

  • would paracord work? kind of looks like paracord to me.

  • No it needs to be pull cord material, para cord isnt strong enough and too fat

  • what about Dyneema Mini-cord as extreme replacement material for D-loops? this stuff is used in sailing, should hold up to 400-800lbf, pretty much the same in texture with regular D-loop cord.

And an old tea spoon makes a great tool to form the greatest D-loop balls, heat the underside with your torch and just turn your loop in the spoon. Should be the right tool for an old firebug like you - watch your fingers ;)

  • Thankx gonna tie on on tonite an needed some know how.

  • thanx for that mate. I just got my first Dloop 2day and had know idea how to put it on... u have the best archery tips on youtube btw, keep up the good work mate : )

  • i realize they have different noking loops with peep aligners and plastic loops to keep from knocking off your noking point..lol but which one do you recommend the standard string loops?..your the expert not me..lol

  • This is priceless info and will deff help me out in the future.

  • i heard u were supposed to tie the knots opposite to each other or does it not matter

  • Yeah everybody argues about that lol I have tied it both ways and have never had a problem either way. Since the loop cord twists it wont cause any torquing aor anything like that.

  • cool thanks

    great vids too

  • Thanks for the d loop info.

  • thanks so much mate just got my first bow and just now have finished fitting the d-loop thanks to you =]

  • Thanks man! Your a life saver.

  • AWESOME 411 to have in the skull for those unxpected moments. Thanks for posting.

  • great video man. i finished my loop in about 5 minutes. you made it a lot easier to understand than i would have expected it to have been. i really appreciat that you took the time to upload it. thanks again

  • can u help me. im not useing the kind of release that requires a d loop. my release is like a middle finger release if u know what i mean. and the end is like a loop and a piece of metal. u wrap the loop round the string then clip it on to the metal part. then u pull the trigger and the metal part realeses and the arrow goes.. what would i need to use this release?

  • man thanks so much, watched just about all your videos, no places toget my bow serviced in my town so your videos help me tons, thanks man :D

  • yeah it can become crystalized if you let it burn for too long but it takes a minute to happen.

  • what you talkin about over burning for the bulb? i didnt know this weakens it?

  • Thanks for good video may u give me a tip. Im used to shoot with my fingers with my compound bow and when im trying with a release i just press the trigger like a reflex eaven if i know i wont hit the target lol but when im shooting with my fingers i hit all i aim for. what shal i do? can i still go with my fingers or is it a waste of accurate?

  • Thx mate.

I just joined started with a new target hoyt. And needed to shorten my D loop, took my case, changed it in there, 1st try all perfect. thx man. The hardest part was taking it off :)

  • I don't have a nock point on my string if thats what you mean, I do have one on my arrow. As for more speed I don't know never think much about speed only quietness and accuracy.

  • he might have ment the flechings. GREAT vids VERY helpful.

  • I tied my first loop the first time using this video! Very clear and easy to follow content. Wish I had a shop like yours where I live! TKS A Bunch and keep up the good work!

  • this is the second time I have used this video to tie a d-loop. works great thanks for the video!

  • nice video 5/5...

    very easy to folow instructions

tnx and i also just tied my first D loop

  • Thanks for doing these vids, I now cant wait to replace my D loop and work on my bow :)

  • excellent video..just tied my first d loop. thanks

  • dependent on your own preference(s), you might like a heavier or lighter loop material... i use black, military speed-lace boot lace string - this stuff is tougher than nails.

the setup & configuration is the same as in this video.

in a cinch, having an extra pair of laces around isn't a bad idea anyhow... unless u go muck boots - lol. like the man says here, something like this "...might just save your hunt."

great video - thanks for postin' :)

  • Great Instructional video THANK'S !!!!!

  • great no nonsense instruction..two thumbs up.

  • I just tied on my first d-loop after watching your video. Thanks a lot!

  • Nice, Thanks man! Read the instructions on the package, and had NO idea. I'm good to go now, well explained. Happy Hunting!

  • ok give me about 4 days and i will make it ok give me 4days k and can u give me the tips in comments ok

  • if i make a video on one of your videos will u watch it and comment and give me some tips plz

  • make it!!

  • i gote a new bow today its a 21 pound bow can u tell me does the string sit on the dampener or does it go where my draw string is

  • it goes where your draw string is

  • Great video Excellent advice!

  • thanks so much buddy i have bin looking for a good vid like yours win some one that know wut there talking about unlike a lot of the

retards lol.... thanks so much man

  • can you tell me name of release you have?

  • thanks for the tips now I don't have to wait for my bowshop to do it.

  • thnx helped alot see yah

  • i could have really used this video saturday on my treestand. O well. Now i know. Thanks man

  • I want to clarify something I should have put on the video, tying the knot on the same side of the string will NOT affect anything as long as your release has a swivel head. This knot is tied on the same side for the viewer to see how it is done, I should have tied it opposite each other but it is more important to see how to tie it than the way they are turned.

  • Fraying the last 1/4" let's you hold it a couple inches above the lighter.....this way it melts into a nice ball without catching ablaze. I also do the ends before tying it on since I know how long I need mine. Remember, too, that smaller diameter rope (like 1.8mm) requires just a little shorter piece.

Place alternating the knots on opposite sides of the string help eliminats some small tuning issues.

  • ok, o use pse's string loops, great product although nobody cares what a 12 year says. Anyways, one thing about fobs is i have them combined with turbo nock t-4. not t-4s. those are for slim and axis shafts.

  • well anyways, they have a short space from the nock grove to the part were it is tapered to stop it from going into the arrow. So you have to take those little metal nocks that you put on you string and out them pretty far out to keep your nock from pinching and you string on your bow from touching the fob and pushing the arrow of. Don't understand, i might be able to get a vid of it

  • Great movie. Thanks for sharing your information.

  • Great video...useful tips!

Just like to add that if you fray the last 1/16"-1/8" of the nylon braid (D-loop material) before you come at it with a lighter, it is easier to melt and less likely to catch on fire.

    Kudos!

  • Thank's for the info.
