From how old Igor looks here, I'd guess this was the 80s. Not sure when Kalmikoff stopped managing him. I grew up on Detroit NWA stuff and Igor was a favorite though I wish I could find some Stomper and Ben Justice stuff.
Abdullah probably cut his own forehead with a razor blade off-camera. That was a specialty of his. His forehead was a map of scars.
@Bilytkid I remember the Mighty Igor from the 70's. Along with Dickhead the Bruiser. Pampero Firpo, Bo Blow Brasil, Flying Fem Curry, Andre the Giant and the Shiek who never lost a match even though he should have. I saw him fight Dickhead, Igor, Firpo, Bo Blow and Andre all at Cobo arena in Detroit.
@mcruz1970 You are right about that. McMan completely ruined wrestling. I was young and naive and only thought wrestling was local and in Detroit only. I found out years later that it was local all over the country. Every region had it's stars. Detroit was probably the best of the bunch and responsible for the mega hit it is today.
This match is very interesting as it shows two great wrestlers who are no longer living.
Also, I think that the current crop of wrestlers from Puerto Rico shouldn't be punished for something that happened almost 22 years ago when most of them were only kids and some hadn't even been born yet.
