@shaytan1313 You've obviously never been on tour. Constant temperature changes (cold on the bus/plane, hot on stage), changes in humidity depending on where you are playing etc. Temperature change from the start of the set to the end (gets insanely hot on stage). Constant string changes... It demands quite a lot from a guitar. On the road it is a big issue. The construction of the neck on the Hagström makes it excel in this area.
I have a hagstrom swede, wild cherry transparent which is beautiful and easy to play. I got a great deal on the price and I enjoy its unique distinguished sound. Best guitar ever!!!
Umphrey's mcgee gets no love on the promo? They are one of he best combos of musicianship and songwriting out there!! Jake Cunninger plays a hagstrom swede and gets insane tone
Nice demo indeed. I was very interested in the Super Swede. But I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed with Hagstrom of late. Just like everyone else (it seems) they've raised the price of the their guitars-this one in particular- significantly, from 20 to 40 percent in some instances. I love the guitars, but, at the price they've now moved up to in alot of places, I'll look elswhere.
Every Hagstrom made in the 00's is made in China. No exceptions...whoever tells you otherwise is lying. They used to be made in Sweden back in the day and for a while their accordions were made in Germany as well but todays Hagstrom=China. I've got the Select Swede and the Spalted Maple Ultralux Ultra Swede. They're probably the best guitars I've had regardless of where they were made. Epiphones suck compared to Hagstroms.
Well, you have right there but it was a american who bought the hagström complex.
There was a contract that he can't break. He got all the original stuff from Sweden and no one in US stand up to help him. Every Hagstöm made in China is made under controll. If they started up a factory in US no one will buy a Hagstöm because the guitar will be very expensive.
@trazanhund I don't think you have the correct information. An American did not buy Hagström. It is still owned by the Hagstrom family, where the daily business is run by a Swedish company.
More; Hagström become a very expensive in Sweden and the Japanese made guitars took over. Today the Hagstöm family still supervised the Hagström plant.
I got my 2nd Hag., A Select Ultra Swede, it is amazing. I also have an XL5. The prices on the Hags are going up rapidly because of the demand. I've noticed a $60 increase in just the last 6 weeks. If you want one you better buy it fast. The quality is flawless!
I just got an XL-5 and it's an awesome guitar. These new Ultralux guitars have the thin neck of the 60s Hagstrom with updated electronics. The coil taps on the XL-5 give you 9 different pickup combinations! Awesome guitar.
I'm pretty happy that everybody is still stuck on the overrated staples like Fender and Gibson, because if everyone wanted these at once they could very well start charging more for the next line.
Great,Incredible and Amazing! I keep hearing all this hype,But yet have i never seen or heard of anyone playing these guitars to begin to truly form an opinion of what they sound like. However i just bought a super swede on e-bay so i guess i will find out.Got a great deal on it too!
I play on an Hagström Swede from the 80:s Original that is. Best guitar i have ever played on and my mothers husbands borhter collects gibson guitars. so i have played on some. BUT, the NEW hagström guitars are NOT as good as the OLD ones.
Now how would a Viking compare to one of the middle range Gretschs? I know these Hagstroms are supposed to be amazingly well build for the price, but honestly, in guitars, price often equates quality.
i dont have a viking, but i do have a deluxe and a swede...for the money, they are awesome, while not my main guitars, they are great, they do cut some corners with electronics and finishes, but you could mod one and still save a ton of money instead of buying a 335 or a gretch...
Why don't you let us hear the guitar instead of telling us how good it sounds!
I am considering a Swede and have watched 2 videos on them so far and the people on the videos say the same things with some bozo talking over the guitars.
I am a Hagstrom owner. But I can't help but laugh when he says they are played by some of the best guitarists out there but they can only provide references from The secret machines, Panic at the Disco, and the guy from Marc Anthony's back up band haha. Those bands don't come to mind when thinking "greatest out there".,
