Phew..... AWEsome tone & Riffosity @ 5:02... Almost sounds like you doubled the
guitar... tho I'm sure you didn't.... NIICE pedal & demo, as always....
I think WMD , like ElectroHarmonix, is one of the most forward thinking & coolest
pedal co. out there. Their stuff is ALways cutting edge, doesn't sound like ANYbody else .. and seems to have limitless tonal capabilities( IE, the Geiger counter)
Been dying to hear more of this pedal (only a few clips out there). The PGS demos are always so great. Only, thing: Andy, if you read this, what kind of fuzz sound is the fuzz side based on? Fuzz Face? Big Muff? Tone Bender? Or do you determine that with the EQ?
@ProGuitarShopDemos With a separate shooting and editing crew, both following your recent format, you could demo every pedal in your inventory, effectively ending the biggest issue that your company faces. A tastefully executed demonstration is EXACTLY what your customer expects of you. Delete the gaps in coverage of your inventory, with a dedicated crew and give Andy a break from the editing suite.
Doesn't anyone own an amp/guitar that does what they want? There must be 100+ boost/fuzz/overdrive pedals on the market. Are any of these companies making more than 15-20 units a year? How can any of them stay in business? Most of them sound pretty much the same and are made with pretty much the same components. I don't get it. Back in my day the last thing you worried about was the stupid paint job - beer spills took care of that
All the fuzz pedals at PGS have completely different tones... Yes a great amp is a great start, but it's far from being capable of delivering your own unique tone. They stay in business because the pedals are pricey, but worth every penny. It's all about picking a flavor... You go to baskin robins and they have 31 flavors. Why? Because people like diversity. It's what sets players apart besides their licks.
It's a combination of the two... Take Johnny Greenwood. Extremely unique playing style, but his true genius comes from his sounds. The sounds feed his unique playing style. I mostly play acoustic so I understand the whole anti-gear purist approach, but I think gear and playing style should work in tandem to achieve the best results. After all great gear in the hands of a bad player won't achieve much.
Well boost pedals are used for people who need more output than their amps can provide. Fuzz pedals give a tonal characteristic not available with just an amp (unless you want to tear your speaker on purpose or something). Overdrive pedals function similarly to boost pedals, in that they are meant to push the front end of a tube amp into natural overdrive, or provide a unique tone. I'm sure these companies do quite well actually, because they provide a service that people want.
@moucon wouldn't we all like to only play gigs where we were allowed to turn our amps up to the level of attaining great overdriven tones! but the reality is that most gigs, at least the ones I play in small rooms and bars, don't allow for this. perhaps you just play in your basement, or maybe you play stadiums,,, but for the rest of us a good overdrive pedal is essential.
