@HellHound60248 There's a lot of what you would call 'pre-production' work to lay everything down correctly and they are setting themselves up for success for the first 2 minutes...
Cool boat! but if your camera has infrared, you or someone who want to try time-lpase photography, could use an infrared time-lapse remote like this one: tempus.bymac.org
I have been seeing around for vids, that show how boats are made, and right before I saw this video, I was like "God, why can't there be any good videos that show everything, and not only pics from the process, and then I came across this vid...:) THnx
try a library. thats what i'm going to do tomorrow. probably get 3 or 4 good ones with a lot of pictures. i have learned a lot lately by reading d.i.y. books at the library. i want to build a 14-16 ft boat to go fishing this spring.
@ThrashingBuddha this school is in port haddlock, washington. they offer 6, 9, and 12 month courses. they 12 month course cost about $15.000 but they us government pays half. their are only 3 wooden boat building schools in america. one is on the great lakes, one is in maine, and theirs this one, in washington
I've been looking online a lot recently. This video, and many others just make me want to switch from residential architecture to wooden boat building. I've loved wooden boats ever since the 10th grade when I began learning about the Phoenicians. Great video.
I am in the same position, j3. Fairly accomplished woodworker no experience with boats and I've fallen in love with catboats. I want to tackle a small one to start oh..say 14 ft. I tried the yahoo discussion group but there has been no posts since 2007. Anyone know of a patient group who can tolerate my for simple and sometimes stupid questions?

There's lotsa guys in your position welcomed kindly there, by a serious group of VERY knowlegeable ''old salts''. I don't post there - just read. But I learn something new/interesting/inspiring every time I click in. Google search the domain name for just about any question you have (the Forum's search is lousy). Earlier ''noobs'' there have likely asked something related, and gotten some very good info.

What do you do with your wooden boat building degree? That would be great to learn such a craft, but could you actually be hired?
