  • This may be the greatest animated scene in any movie/show ever.

  • so beautiful

  • find no meaning;pure decorative

  • @guramare44 You have to watch the entire film to understand the meaning of this scene, in a way it's kinda nostalgic and even spiritual

  • @guramare44 no meaning? you sir ... just hit your head strong!

  • @guramare44 You say that like it's a bad thing. :P Also, as someone else said, you should watch the whole film.

  • Innocence is one of the anime that has great animation.

  • To inform those who don't know about Southern Han Chinese architecture and culture... The festival in this clip is Matsu/Mazu Birthday and those claiming Hong Kong architecture; this is not the Cantonese or the Teochew style but the Hokkien (Fujian/ Minnan) style architecture with swallow tail edges.

They didn't mention the city's name but since they speak Cantonese it much be a cantonese region with a parade showing off Hokkien/Taiwanese style. Matsu is also well known by the Cantonese.

  • I always try to find the full scene but its always says "not available in your country"

  • I love the contrast between the animation of parade and animation of people...

  • thanks for the lirics

  • awesome!!

  • Honestly one of the most visually and musically beautiful sequences in film history.

  • @xXRubella666Xx - agree 100%

  • Isn't this place the Etorofu?

  • Ótima qualidade.

  • No. The architecture is clearly from Hong Kong, so is the language (Cantonese). Not Taiwan... you guys need to read more about the film before even trying to comment.

  • @wherewillyoube I'm not sure if you're trolling or not. :( But just for reference... "the parade sequence is based on a religious procession and a temple in Taiwan". (source: Wikipedia - director's commentary from the DVD)

I'm not sure what "language" you're referring to, but the BGM is sung in Japanese (no traces of Taiwanese or Cantonese). And for that matter, I'm fairly sure both Taiwan and HK use Traditional Chinese, although phrases may be used differently. :S

  • fuckin amazing

  • I wonder how cool it would be to be in there

  • IT TOOK me a while to figure out what i was looking at, and i said wow!!!!!!!!!

  • Too much CG.

  • @b00rk I don't think that makes it any less beautiful.

  • Wow this is just freaking terrifying to me .-. Probably cuz of the music with it

  • Movies like these and Appleseed and such make me sit in awe for 1h 30m - 2h. Hollywood can't match this stuff.

  • this is amazing, I need to pick this up on blu ray asap

  • This is in Intelstat and Ghost in the Shell 2.0, two really well known songs

  • Probably the moust amazing anime clip ever made! It's just.... Incredible!

  • 3 to the fucking D "awesome"

  • This...BLEW MY MIND! Beautiful work! :D

  • i wish they would convert it to 3d!

  • Why haven't I watched this yet? It looks incredible.

  • didnt this take three years to make?

  • Somebody, get me away from the monitor! Totally hypnotizing

  • Wow it still amazes me just how great the graphics are in this movie!

  • as a japanese, I have to tell the song is from japan but the parade is from Taiwan. because, Taiwan has supported japan so much after the Tsunami disaster and they have great culture.

  • @mwells219

    nah

  • @mwells219

    Wrong.

  • Extravagantissime !

  • Seems almost overwhelmingly detailed.

  • @Mitchellfw This scene alone took three years to make. It's no wonder that it's so insanely detailed (:

  • Oh damn cultural surreal i tot i had a similar experience from the animation Paprika.

  • Lyrics: Although the moon doesn't shine every one night, but Mue (a monster bird in legend) sings every night sadly. Even if I look back the past, The flowers (Sakura) burn off. As if the heart of consolation already disappeared In this new world Gods are gathered day broke, Nue sing The flowers (Sakura) pray to gods Although the situation in this life are tragic, cannot give up a dream. die holding animosity.
  • a masterpiece scene !!!!!

  • fuck, this is good. even if the story sucked, it would be a 5 out of 5.

  • @MasslRockss This sole moment dignifies the whole movie. And it happens near the end.

  • Great sequence though i was bummin when I heard the music because it is basically an inferior version of ghost city

  • @romanpr1nce retard

  • @romanpr1nce I feel the same way.

  • Ghost in the Shell et LE meilleur manga

  • I can't believe people took an anime video and created a political debate...I understand nomenclature and explaining differences is important and I definitely agree with that, however, everyone hug, have some skittles and enjoy Ghost City.

  • Greetings, I'm looking for the scene where just before this one, with the Milton reference dialog please. Any and all help would be grateful.

  • That scene perfectly sumerises the whole movie...

  • wow

  • that's magnificent, terrific and fasinating!

i love this kind of profusion.

    Merci!

  • fuck pixar and dreamworks - this is how its done!

  • @Crylhound

It is the best scene in a movie, i've ever seen.

  • @Crylhound This was in 2004.

  • Well, I love my country, ROC, or called Taiwan. And thank the staff for making this film, showing the beauty of taiwanese culture. Thank you!

  • @wangttang Maybe emilee2215 misunderstood that you refered to"Taiwan" as a province of PRC. It's a hot-button issue now. I know my country is ROC, but if I claim that, many troubles will come. Foreigners don't know what's different between ROC and PRC.

  • this culture is from taiwan.

  • @laiyuhao123

More like Chinese culture as a general whole?

  • @minborox never been to china, but i lived in Taiwan for a month and those temples are everywhere in taiwan. They look damn near identical to the ones in the video.

  • @HDZ274

Has it occurred to you... that Taiwanese culture IS Chinese culture, and that Taiwanese are actually Chinese?

  • Where can i wat all the gits movies for free

  • 4 people got ghost-hacked

  • Just Fucking Awesome period

  • Amazing.

  • This would have been amazing in 3D.

  • The colors are so vibrant, the music so powerful, the cinematography so well executed...one of those scenes that lives on in your mind.

  • Something beautiful... I can't find words to describe how I feel right now... In HD is amazing....

  • amazing! the scene of Taiwan's religious festival can be performed in detail by Japanese.

  • Amazing! How wnderful of Taiwanese's traditional culture!

  • God...

    I....I ...I can't describe how I feeel when I see this Scene....

    This is just...

    WOW !!

  • its amazing how its almost impossible to find the english version of this movie

  • This reminds me of the Karas OVAs. Say what you will about their plot, but I've never seen anything that could integrate 2D and #D as perfectly as they could.

    Until now.

  • I really fall in love with this scene. The drawing, the music and the atmosphere amaze me. The combination brings the mix of feelings to me that is hard to describe in words. Beautiful piece of art!!!

  • hypnotic complance the fall of a man/woman kind very weird but scarry at the same time.

  • this look more like hong kong and chinese culture.

  • @ayoria92

It's looks much like Taiwanese culture fair.

    You can serch"官將首"

  • gracias por subirla, tambien es una de mis favoritas esta escena. /thanks friend.

  • @tbthewayiam no, it's not a musical at all...

  • god damn...the japanese are fucked up!!!

  • @BSbrian hahahahahahaha!!!!!! yeah, in a good way !

  • @BSbrian why ?

  • despite the phenomenal visuals, this movie put me to sleep

  • PHENOMENAL

  • LOL four people are just blind...

  • @Moriremtots and deaf

  • @Moriremtots .. and deaf as well.

  • @Moriremtots Don't be ignorant. Just because 4 (now 6) people did not like the video, that doesn't mean that they have some sort of disability. Grow up and learn to keep an open mind.

  • This is my favorite scene in the whole movie - it gives my the heebiejeebies every time I watch it

I think this scene's trying to show that even though the parade's supposed to be something grand and beautiful, somehow it just looks monsterous and evil, like a perverted portraiture of how man tried to reach up with all his strength and attain goodhood, only to end in ruin.

I think the over-gaudy parade and the sullen Buddhist monk at 2:40 is supposed to show this. Does anyone know what I mean?

  • @s117godd man i spent already 2 hours trying to find out the city in china where this celebration was taken from as well as streets of hong kong in first part of a movie. asking my chinese friend but she cant remember either. parade in this city looks exactly like this. one of the teachers was showing to us on a lecture. will link u if i find 8 )

  • @s117godd not quite, but was a good try at entering the director's mind ;)

  • @s117godd and i also think the original meaning of this parade is transported into the movie. it is in addition that japanese anime was influenced a lot with chinese culture.

  • @s117godd f*ck me, Taiwan is the city google "taiwan traditional parade"

  • @wangttang Taiwan is a country , ok ?

  • Comment removed

  • @wangttang We are a country, not a province of any country, please show your respect!

  • @emilee2215

actually Taiwan is the name of the province

and the country is still the republic of china..

  • @lorsafy

There is no province in Taiwan nowadays.

When mentioning Taiwan's official name within Taiwan, most Taiwan say "Taiwan" directly or ROC(Taiwan). Not many Taiwanese use ROC individually now. Only very few people still like to use ROC. ROC officially includes China, Tibet, East Turkesten, Mongolia, and Formosa/Taiwan..you know? Don't you think ROC is outdated?

  • @bctvanw

I wouldn't go as far as out dated

the government is still ROC and it is printed on my passport

I do understand that people now refer ROC as Taiwan because that is basically the only province it owns

other than Fujian. However I failed to understand why people went so aggressive when I say its a province. Like emilee2215, I don't understand what offended her

i live in California and I wouldn't be offended if people called me American

tho I still prefer to think my self as Taiwanese

  • @wangttang

New passport is "ROC(Taiwan)". Many Taiwanese prefer "Taiwan" and most foreigners know about Taiwan only. It's not hard to understand in the future. The name Taiwan will be used completely.

Actually, Formosa has been used since 1544, while Taiwan is a much newer name, and it is started to be used after 1950s after KMT government escaped to Taiwan. It's just like KMT prefer using Menggu instead of Mongolia to show that they(Chinese) own those places.

  • @lorsafy whatever, ROC is Taiwan, nothing to do with China, PRC.

  • @emilee2215

no one said anything about PRC

    stop being so sensitive

    just enjoy the video okay......

  • @lorsafy of course someone mentioned about it that's why I commented about it = =

  • 3D and 2D just don't mesh together. Get that through your head Japan.

  • @bendomolena why not if you seen this movie you know its awsome

  • i don't like those 3d rendered scenes - takes the beauty and atmosphere away from it! graphics in gits 1 or akira - that was the perfection

  • ferpect grafix...i like it 100%

  • I couldn't possibly fathom how much hard work it took to make one scene. Brilliant!

  • I've watched this sequence hundreds of times, but still every time I feel like I freeze, I hear my heart beat only and I can take my sight elsewhere then on the screen. Am I getting older?

  • this flying vehicle ist so epic and beautyfull

  • Awesome .. amazing ... we need more intelligent films like this ... enough mindless Katherine Heigl bs ./..

  • YouTube cannot handle the quality of the animation.

  • There's a scene in the first movie with very similar music which speaks to me even more than this one. In fact, one of the most captivating scenes in any movie I've seen. That being said, this is also astoundingly beautiful and mesmerizing!

  • woot! only oshii can do this kind of animation!! Ghost in The Shell ROCKSS!!

  • Taoist religious celebration on the streets of Taipei

    watch?v=WUrkjFPcd1Y&feature=related

  • hat's off to anime...

  • proof that anime is better than any western toons

  • O_O :O

  • Only in Ghost In the shell... awesome.

  • Oshii is the master of animation, he really is. What I wouldn't give to see him make another Patlabor film with this technology.

  • ……. far fucking out. Thank you, Master Architect, for the heads-up & thank YOU, acidzero2, for the upload. Makes me wanna drop blotter again & it's only been, like, 28 years ~ (•8-D

  • Awesome design!!! Respect to japan artists...

  • The movie has a creepy setting - Japan, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are all encompassed in the same political-techno-cultural sphere. That's why theTaiwanese festival parade appears in this scene. The creepy part is... the emergence of Eastern Asian powers and the future merge of those powers seem so more possible after the finacial crisis than in 1995.

  • HOLY SHIT, this is just the studio saying "Look how cool we made this." AND IT. IS. GLORIOUS.

  • What is with all this external piping on buildings. It seems a contrivance to make these look more futuristic but we just don't see this paradigm in modern building engineering.

  • this is one sequel that surpass the original, absolutely beautiful

  • a truly gorgeous bit of work..

  • this scene is a master piece itself, it's impossible to describe the feelings with words.

  • Absolutely in love with this scene.

  • The first time I saw this I was enraptured. And I'm still even tho I've seen it dozen's of times. Thank you for posting this.

  • The most amazing music and video i have ever heard or seen... I have never missd Ghost in the shell on Animax...

  • Great Quality!

My favorite scene from the movie, that music is just wonderful ^_^

  • nicee quality

  • Just, wow.

  • This made me cry a bit

  • gives me chills every time.

  • this is how all animes should look like

  • @KronoReaper Oh wow...if typical anime series are to be aired with quality that were comparable to EVEN anywhere NEAR this; the budget would've go bye bye just from making the opening sequence of that show; let alone the episodes. LMAO. xDD

  • @KronoReaper right. I would love to see a Oshii do a mecha anime with this technology at his disposale.

  • This scene is just... beautiful. I don't think there's a better way to describe it without sounding obsessive.

  • Agreed. My eyes were glued to the screen and the music made it twice as good.

  • @DarkRaven4649 It's a visigasm?

  • h3y folks,, yes it's the kind of artwork & music that would surely win many academy awards & more IF only our move/pop culture would RESPECT anime!..

ALSO::: KAWAI recorded parts of the soundtrack in an UNDERGROUND parking lot or cave or somehing,, truly unique. i think they were SO dedicated to great music that they took ALL day singing/vocalizing/recording just to get ONE song correct for this sequence, w0ah;-)

btw:: THANX for info below re: Taiwanese Temple festival parade =][=
