A great concert. Beethoven would be proud. But Mr Barenboim looked awfully ill, so ghostly looking. His hands were white as a ghost too. I hope this is illness is temporary. He's one the greatest pianist next to Alfred Brendel.

As always, Barenboïm is wonderful in Beethoven's concertos. Listen to his first recording of them (at 26 year old!) with Klemperer (!), and, even more, to his recording as a pianist AND a conductor with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1985.

Excellent performance.

However, each time when I see or hear the name of Daniel Barenboim, I just cannot help but think of British cellist Jacqueline du Pré.

Last time I heard this mind blowing concerto was with the Qatar Philharmonic Orch in Doha a couple of months ago and they are just as good as this orchestra; of course they can't pull off Barenboim! but this orchestra as also very good.
