Also i agree, out of the guitarists i know maybe two appreciate the bass, and when my band pokes fun at the lack of importance of bass i show them the video i filmed of them playing blvd of broken dreams before i played bass for them. That shuts them up every time haha
wait, a guitarist can be a bassist but not reverse? that is very untrue
i play both, our guitarist plays both[ not at once of course]
there are many famous musicians who play both
Are you meaning to say you can't play guitar in the bass style? I find it tougher to strum a guitar with the upstrum walks and there are chords which are vital to a guitar, while sliding is more important in bass
For god's sake loosen your fingers and don't play like a robot! You are concentrating way too much. Let your fingers move with the rhythm. Let the notes flow into each other. All I am hearing is plunk, plunk,plunk...
@gixer121121 I've played with plenty of musicians before....what I was trying to say was that a guitarist can be a bassist but a bassist can't be a guitarist. And my last comment was about a year ago and now I disagree with what I said about bassists.
@OrangeWolf6 Oh, yeah i get that, im a noob at bass lol, have been playing 3 months, check my covers if you want :) I have some cool songs on there from fall out boy, Prodigy and metallica if you like them.
Very good for your first month, try to get out of the habit of one finger it takes some practice but two and even three finger playing styles open up the horizon to an incredible array of more advanced music.
Shut up. That depends entirely on what you're playing and what kind of music you listen to. Bass might be easier to "learn", but I'd argue it's far harder to master. You need to learn a bit about music before you go around making a fool out of yourself.

I know how hard playing the guitar is because I've been playing the guitar for 5 years, and there's no skill involved except for the picking with the fingers, and you play one note for the whole song basically, so shut up and play a cooler instrument
I play both. Again, your idea of bass and music is immature. Search YouTube for Flea, Chris Wolstenholme, Vic Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Les Claypool, Jaco Pastorius... You must be a terrible guitarist if you don't appreciate bass, ask any musician.
@achickensandwich Anyone who don't appreciate what the bass does for music (especially rock) is a huge ignorant snot with no knowledge of anything having to do with guitars.
@achickensandwich most of them are all posers that pass all day trolling on youtube, with a crappy 2 years olded 100 dollar Stratocaster by their sides, wearing a guns and roses t-shirt with sweet child of mine lyrics in the back. They just play guitar around 2 months thinking that they're awesome and last 2 more years think that bass isn't necessary. I mean, just 95% of guitarists that think that way. Try to play a song without drums or bass. It won't be successful.
More strings does not equal harder instrument. There are 6 string basses out there. Plus, have you ever seen slap bass? That shit is way out of your league.
Well either you are the greatest bassist that ever lived, you didn't really play slap the second you picked up a bass, or you did but you didn't do it properly and actually you failed.
@louiscfc93 Some metal guys use this style of bass. Some use Jazz basses. Some use Music Man or Schecter or Ibanez. As far as strings go, some guys use D'Addario, some use Ernie Ball, some use Bass Boomers, etc. Just about anything works. Its about the specific sound you want. Figure out what metal bass players you like and look at what they use. That will give you a good start.
hey thats well played but do check out my video response to this...i got this riff in like 2 weeks of holding a bass guitar...nd then like in about a month i performed it on stage and sang as well!!!...CHEERS!!! pink floyd fan....check out the 4:30 minutes video.
im jsut curious, did you get lessons or did you teach your self because your just suposed to repeat the G and B for the ending and when you get to the second bar when the vocals come in your supposed to repeat the G and B and then continue with the F instead of going to the B and F on the four frets...just advice, not criticzing...
hy this is jhonny.i could recomand you something!Try not to play so short notes.I prefer when i;m listening pink floyd to make those nothes longer and not so worry.you're playng great after all

Tip #1: Loosen up, bass is about feeling the song.
Tip #2: Be sure to learn all the fills.
Tip #3: Learn Your Bass and amp. You can change that raspy sound to true bass, which is what Pink-Floyd uses.

The rattling is probably coming from the action of your strings. The strings may be too close to the neck.
