Caving (spelunking) is fun and an inexpensive sport. You can get involved by contacting a local boy scout group, or contact a local caving club - visit the NSS website. I mostly go to Kentucky & Indiana. It's a great sport if you don't mind getting muddy or crawling in tight spaces.

Is spelunking fun? I watched the video and everything, but things are different in person than in video. I wanna get into it. And if not that, are there any other outdoor hobbies that are good to try. I'm 14, though, so keep in mind I may not have a lot a lot of money right away.

I know u have to sign a release and get a key to go to the caves. I am still not sure exactaly where to go inorder to get the key or release. can you help me out with this? my husband and i are looking for a weekend spelunking trip in GA. Thanks for your help.

OPen between April and November. Closed during the winter since bats hibernate in the cave.

I was hoping it was *that* cave. I live in Tallahassee Florida and I was with the Seminole grotto in the 60s and 70s. 1987 too. a/o 1987 was mapped to be 10+ miles long, probably 50 times that length. many bats now. vertical sinkhole 120 feet! memo: the rear of the TEAROOM had water in it, *before* the Appalachian river dam was made! Tearoom is about 300 foot long, after a "helmet pushed ahead of you" crawl. cave could go for miles and miles.

i just went spelunking the other day. i want to get a good cam to record my adventures but i cant find a good and cheap one. i am only 16 but i have been in my share of caves. if u have any advice on what cam to buy please tell me

Climax cave is a very welknown cave in the Mt. Vernon area. Some people will take spray paint and deface the inside of a cave. That is why the location of caves is held in confidence by caving clubs. An unfortunate situation.

It's a very public cave, and gets its share of abuse. Various caving clubs will take time throughout the year to spend a day picking up trash and stuff.
