I am a police officer and fully in support of peaceful protests done in connection of Occupy Wall Street and not just because I love and value our right to free speech and assembly. I agree that our government officials have created a system where we push around fake money in an unproductive economy. But won't abandon my dutes via rhetoric spin guilt trip. My noble, "dangerous" job has been belittled by this man constantly whenever it suits him by coloring us as racist, dull-witted jackboots.

Make peace with the police. Assure them that your interests and their interests are shared in common and they we are all fighting for them, their safety, health care and retirement. Tell them you want them to join the cause and if they do it will all be safer for protestor and policeman alike. A pending strike may a be a good idea - provided it is targeted - it would be no good to target small businesses, they've been screwed just as we have. The only way we will get those bastards on Wall street - and the City in London - to sit up and take notice will be to hit them in the pocket. It does not have to be widespread just highly visible.
