I So want to find out How to Build some stuff like this... a Good Muti-Rack-Gym can cost as low as $600 and up to $2000 or more... Lumber is so much cheaper if you know how to make use of it...!
@dcyodcyo You're right it would have been way easier, but I chose to do this because with a dumbbell, it can be cause injury to the shoulder, and there is no resistance in the finished position of full muscular contraction amongst other reasons.
@charliesgym That's why you should use a resistance band which not only offers resistance, but INCREASED resistance throughout the range of motion. What causes injury to the shoulders is restricting freedom and development through use of a machine such as this which resticts motion within a 2D plane - treating the shoulders as a hinge joint which they obviously aren't. It's an impressive build but there are more simple and effective alternatives.
Yes, that is excellent. Great work. I made a rollerboard a few years ago, and think it could be adapted to this. How did you make the big pulleys on the sides?
You can get a free website from wordpress (dot com). I have one there with the same nickname as here.
The "pulleys" on the sides are known as the cams - they vary the resistance - they are made of 3 sheets of 3/8 plywood that was glued and screwed together. The two outer plys are a little bigger than the center ply creating cable "guides" to keep the cable from sliding off the center ply.
Thanks for the website tip, I'll look for your site and maybe get my own there too.

That is quite elaborate, good work. I'd like to see your plans.
Does that exercise work your abs?
johnlvs2run 2 years ago
Yes, it's really a lat and ab machine!
I don't do any other ab work, and I've got good abs.
Check out my later video of a new improved smaller pullover made of 2 x 4's too.

Thanks for your quick response.
I'm impressed that you developed your abs from just this one exercise.
Do you still have a website?
johnlvs2run 2 years ago
No I don't have a website right now - I think the reason it builds abs so good is that you're able to add weight - unlike situps or leg lifts

Innovative!!! You gave me an idea with your design man. Will try to build it with square bars and wait for the vid post..
