  • Man those cops are slow!

  • I love how here dress straps fall as shes singing..... Such a hooker!!

  • we want gerard

  • The voices in the actual movie are better

  • My first time watching this movie..Lol. Ending of this part I shouted out, "YES TAKE HER WITH YOUUUUU!!!"

  • 8:04......Cry Bitch CRY

  • Replaced the voices? -:(

  • why did you replace gerard's voice? that's kind of insulting

  • @luizamoora I'm sure Gerard's feelings will remain unscathed

  • Tysia112: its a wig. duh

  • I LOVE Minnie Driver- The actress who plays Carlotta!!! Her voice & acting is AMAZING!!!

  • ewwwww just ewwwww....I dont understand changing the voices....guess Gerard is good enought o look at but not listen to?

  • @wildchaser17 In the title... MC= Micheal Crawford. Im guessing some people like the voices in one and the actors from the other.

  • @AnimalLuva2010 obviously I know that...just tired of people saying Michael Crawford is the begin all and end all as far as the phantom is concerned...you need to watch Webbers interviews about Crawford and Gerard Butler (whom he auditioned) ..if he approved of him then who are we to say Butler wasnt good enough????

  • @wildchaser17 No doubt Gerard is good enough to play the role, he's a great actor. And I have watched the interviews. I am not one to pick favorites esp. because Micheal Crawford and Gerard Butler are good actors. I was simply stating that Micheal Crawford is in this one. Who knows why? Ask the creator of this. I am not making any statement about who's better, just a guess about why this person made this. As you were too. Thanks, AnimalLuva2010

  • @cptighe Emotion? Have you head the final scene of the Michael Crawford version? Gerard's made me mildly sad, Michael's made me burst into tears and howl like a baby. Perhaps the change of voice doesn't suit the picture/faces/different interpretations, but I assure you Michael is EXCELLENT at expressing emotion.

  • butler's voice is better , and rossum's voice too

  • the only thing i dont understand is... how can his hair change blond in a second when she takes his mask off?

  • @Tysia112 LOL! Yeah. And what's up with the Lone Ranger mask?

  • @Tysia112 He is wearing a mask and bald cap (he as in the phantom or erik) In the actual performances the phantom hardly has any hair at all.

  • @AnimalLuva2010 And a wig.

  • @Tysia112 its a wig

  • @Tysia112 Beacuse she takes off his wig as well. But this scene (and the entire movie) is directerd so bad you can't notice it, the first time you see it.

  • @Tysia112 He was wearing a wig, part of him being deformed is having messed up hair

  • @Tysia112 he had a wig on

  • @Tysia112 It's a wig. You can see various busts with wigs on them in his lair at points during the movie. He puts one on during "Seal My Fate", after "Twisted Every Way". The mask must of been attached to the wig.

  • @Tysia112 i know right?

  • why did you change the voices!

  • Lovely boobies Meg...O_o

  • Ok, so Im almost done watching this and all I can say is, Am I the only one that doesnt think he's bad or anything. I mean geeze, his face inst that bad, like its really only around his eye and down his cheek, and he's suddenly this monstrosity and thing. I think its actually very sad. Just saying.

  • This is probably my favortite sceen, besides the one where christine kisses phantom & he lets her go :)

  • Did anyone else notice how when she takes off his mask, his hair comes off, too? ROFL

  • @HazelEyedMysteryGirl To quote the genius that is Phantom Reviews: WIG!!!

  • how can u hate the phantom he is amasin,i cant believe chirstine choose the ugly guy and not the Phantom he is good lookin and has a great voice i dont care abt his face i would choose the phantom over that guy anyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 8:59 >:O YOU BITCH! I HATE YOU FOREVER CHRISTINE!

  • omg...this phantom is horrible. he sounds like he's got nasal clog

  • I thought it was mean when all those people screamed at his face.... :( That was kinda mean...seriously...it's just a face...?

  • kay am i the only one who noticed that at 8:54, mask on, blackish brown hair. then at 8:58, no mask, blonde hair (and funny face ^.^ ) but still. can anyone set the record straight for me?

  • @MissMusicLover1001

Until that very moment (8:58), the Phantom wears a mask AND a wig. His true hair color is blonde, but the wig itself is brown :) When Christine removes the mask, she removes the wig as well.

  • @iAsian92 ohhh thanks :P i mean thats what i assumed, but i didnt know. anyways thanks

  • 4:10 ... the sexy begins, no matter WHO sings is ;)

  • I didnt like your remix.

  • No didn't read the book but doesn't matter, I only knew what I felt watching the story before me. It will affect different people in different ways...that's art!

  • ...WHAT THE FUCK.

  • This looks like it took a lot of work! Good job. n.n

  • i kinda feel bad for the phantom lol

  • Piangi's death scream at 2:25 is epic.

    EHHHYUUHHH!!!

  • I hate SONY MUSICs. Why they have to block thousands of video from watching.

  • Amazing, magical, mistery... superna! bravissima! :D

  • Michael Crawford is obviously the better male voice

    .

But I think I like Emmy's singing in this scene better than Sarah's. Emmy's voice sounds more natural and less staged

    .

  • y is this not Butler and Emmy?...

    aiks..

    i dont like this version.....

    =(

  • Christine= Total Bitch.

  • Funny, when he was in the mask his face wasn't so scarred and he had all his hair in one piece.

  • This movie just got a whole lot better. The Original Cast recordings are just gorgeous. I honestly tried to like the film voices but, Theater just has more to offer. I wish I could have seen Crawford live. This is a good idea though, I was shocked to hear his voice here! :D

  • When Christine sings "He murders all that's good" I was like, WHAAA?

are you really that stupid to not see that all of those people were the ones that caused all the pain the phantom was going through. And I would have chosen the phantom.

Like seriously how stupid can Christine seriously be?

Sometimes I wonder if she was blonde and dyed her hair brown... XD

  • @monica091997

Actually Christine was supposed to be Swedish and Yes, Blonde. It's in Leroux's book. Although there are probably other variations. I think the Phantom said it best to Christine," You denied me, turning from true beauty." beauty and love of the heart not the physical form.

  • 2:22 how do they mistake some fat guy when he comes out at 2:51 it is the phantom who is thin

  • I love the way she just rips his mask off.......CHARMING! I mean, she could be more gentle about it!!! Why did she take it off anyway!

    Love the Phantom x

  • I think Micheal Crawford maybe could have

made a batter phantom... However I like this one better, and Christine sounds younger and more innocent as Emmy... :) but that's my oppinion

  • rofl @ the person that said these are ugly voices... they're the original voices! Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote Christine for Sarah Brightman. Good job with the dub :)

  • I can't believe it! There he is, pouring his heart out to her, showing better than Raoul ever could how much he loved her, and that he would probably treat her like a queen, and THEN SHE RIPS OFF HIS MASK! JERK!

  • LOL IT SUONDS RLLY FUNY WEN THE PHANTOM COMES OUT WITH MICHAEL CRAWFORS VOICE!! XD BCUZ ITS LIKE HE'S THIS DARK DUDE AND THEN 'CHIPMUNK VOICE' LMFAO!! laughing sooo hard!! xD LSH!!

  • ew... I don't like these voices...but that's just my opinion.

  • I suppose any bookstore can get it. I don't remember the author. Rauol knows the baby is the Phantoms

  • @godzilloid well do u think barnes and nobles would have it? cause i really want it!

  • @godzilloid You could probably order it. Others I know who have read it say it really sucks though.

  • @godzilloid ok well im still gonna read it!

  • @godzilloid couldnt suck too bad- considering all the movies and the play that was done from it and all the money made on them.....

  • oh isnt there like a seqel called love never dies?? yea before raul and christine get married the phantom and her well do it and christine gives birth to her child named gastuve.. but raul thinks its his :]... and meg fell in love with the phantom and killed christine by accident

  • @kinuyashagurl005 horrible story

  • It's based on the "sequel" called Phantom in Manhattan. I read most of it and got disgusted with it. No where does it mention HOW the Viscountess got pregnant. It happens 8 or 10 years after the original.

  • @godzilloid ohh ok, had a movie been made, or where can i get the book, im extremeely interested!

  • @girlsxred you can get it free from the gutenburg project

  • uhg, i like sarah brightman but i hate her as Christine, emmy did i much better job hitting Christine on the nail, esp if u read the book, you would understand

  • If you can believe this, in the upcoming sequel, we find out Raoul is sterile, do to a fencing accident. Christine becomes pregnant with the phantom;s child, even though they never coupled.

The Phantom ends up hiding in Coney Island

  • @godzilloid wtf why did u tell us that??? and how did u fund out?

  • @godzilloid when did u find that out, and how, and when, i luv this movie, im good wit confusion and i wanna know how i can find this out!!!

  • the last 2 minutes are amazing fav part of the etire movie, the blending sound, the acting, the way it looks real, everything

  • when yu really pause and look at the phantoms face, it isnt that bad

  • i know these arent the real voices but are these the real words like the actual songs and parts, cause some of the lips read perfect, and others not so much,

  • @ about 4:55 it says seduction

  • i love the phantoms singing voice

  • MC is just amazing.... sarah is better then Emmy, cuz emmy just squeaks....however i'm not saying sarah is the best christine, the best christine in my opinion is Beth Southhard :) Gerry did a good job, he acted it well, the voice is not that good...you should see Hugh Panaro, John Cudia and Gary Meur, and Michael Crawford in action...now they are what you call phantoms, they have the voice and the amazing acting skills :)

  • I'm used to watching the movie but listing to this version of the song, so it was really awesome to see them morphed together. :) thanks!

  • gerard sounds like a major idiot with Michael's voice:DD:D ps: I love them all- Gerard, Mihael, Sarah, Emmy, no hate:) ok maybe I kinda do not like the new movie but no hate at all))

  • This is my favourite scene in the whole movie, and it makes me want to cry, every time, it's so good!

  • I've always thought Michael Crawford's voice was too high-pitched for the Phantom.

  • I prefer gerry's voice. point.

  • The movie allowed so much more to be done, but it will never compare to watching it at her majesties theatre in london! its magical! The voice of christine was written for sarah brightman but i prefere steve harleys voice as the phantom, more rugged and sexy!

  • If his face wasn't deformed n scared me everytime I lookd at it I would soooo choose the phantom over raoul. In most of the scenes in this clip Gerard looks freaken sexy!!;)

  • @Sophi2flt

Yeah... for sure I would choose Gerry Butler, hehehehehe!!!

  • @Sophi2flt you think his face looks bad in the movie? you should see the make up they do for the stage Phantom....WAAAAAAAY more grotesque...makes Gerry's face look like a minor rash. I prefer the stage makeup due to how grotesque it is.

  • Does anyone else notice that Emmy barely opens her mouth when she sings?

  • the face is not that bad. Just a little ugly

  • the other voices are so much better

  • I like the original voices..the ones from the movie...

  • As to the women's voice, I do prefer the original actress's voice, which is warmer than sarah brightman's.

But all of this is a matter of taste, I guess.

  • Butler's voice may be ok for this song but he totally screws up the phantom of the opera song, and the final one.

Though, to me, the perfect phantom's not Crawford either.

Watch John Cuida's performance, to me he's the best!

  • What do you think of Von Smith's rendering of Music of the Night on YouTube? What a voice he has! I'll take Gerard for his dramatic playing of the Phantom and its believeability.

  • Gerard's an actor, so obviously his dramatic playing wouldn't be bad. But I thought we were discussing voices there, an though he does sing well, as do MC, I prefer John Cudia.

And as a matter of fact, I'm suprised by the differences between the movie and the braodway show : in the movie, the phantom dominates this song, and in the show, he is dominated -or it looked like it to me- by Christine.

  • As to Von Smith, I've heard him on Youtube, wow, that's a voice! thanks for the advice!

  • the womans voice is not as good as emmy rosums voice, its annoying... and butlers voice is sexier maybe not as good as this guys, but still it is better for the part

  • Butler's voice may not be better but it is more appropriate. The tortured beast doesn't have a perfect voice but perfect emotion.

  • @cptighe You're so right! Could not have said it better myself...

  • @cptighe I don't agree...in the original story, Erik's voice is like an angel's. That's what makes up for his extreme ugliness; you know, the tortured beast with the voice of an angel...but I suppose it can be interpreted different ways..

  • @cptighe I totally agree with you. Many people can't understand that, I don't know why. Besides, we must not forget that it is a movie, not a musical play, and Gerard Butler's performance, passion and sexyness makes it more appealing for a bigger audience. He is so believable. His voice is what Andrew Lloyd Webber was looking for, perfect for the role.

  • @Ishtar1929

WRONG. The Phantom is Christine's tutor and mentor. He can't be less gifted musically. Michael Crawford was Sarah Brightman's equal or greater in the original production. That's what made it believable. Gerard Butler is not even close to Emmy Rossum's equal, much less a professional singer. He's shampoo in the shower material.

  • @cptighe Amen.

  • I agree with this. While Michael Crawford is an excellent singer, with amazing control and range of his voice, he doesn't capture the intense emotion of the Phantom that Gerard Butler does, at least in my opinion. And I agree with another comment that the voices sounded more staged than natural, but...yeah this is kinda to be expected when the singers are, you know, on stage rather than in a movie, lol. I prefer the movie version of this particular song to the stage version.

  • @cptighe Reallyyy. Have you read the book?

    Hm.

  • @cptighe

Anyone could replace her childhood sweetheart - for that matter anyone in the cast could have been replaced and not altered the presentation - but this would not have been nearly as powerful if you remove the two that played christy and the phantom. They are totally awesome - and i can listen to them over and over.

  • i like MCs voice a lot since i grew up listining to the original cast

  • I love MC's voice and I don't think there is anything wrong with it. But because GB's Phantom has a different intereptation MC's Phantom (ie; body structure, mannerisms, costume) watching this dub may have some people think that MC's voice wasn't "good enough".

That and because there's a difference in atmosphere between the stage and the movie set.

  • I really don't mind the dub, I just don't think Crawford's voice is...not sinister enough. @RinaWeddinggown, I do believe he also lacks some passion. I like Emmy better than Sarah, though.

  • I am not an expert, but from my point of view Crawford's voice, although immaculate in technique, lacks emotions in love scenes such as this. It's like a perfect instrument, but Gerry's singing this very song is more passionate despite that his voice might not be as immaculate for opera.

  • I don't want to complain sense enough people are doing it (it's a DUB people get over it! Michael Crawford is a better singer then Butler) but your missing "Seal my faith tonight" and "twisted everyway" or could you just not find an MP3 dubbing copy for "seal my faith tonight"? It doesn't really matter

  • sorry this is Sarah...but i think emmy is so much better

  • Ass.. read the description and then find one with the movie voices. The original recording was long before this movie and without them you wouldn't have the movie. So don't tell me shit about respecting Lloyd's masterpiece

  • I still think you should've kept Emmy's voice. I like her more than Sarah. Hell I like any other Christine actress more than Sarah, Just Like I love Helena as Mrs. Lovett more than the original.

  • @phantomofopera91,

    I think it was nice

-Thesailorwinx plus you did try your best......so don't feel down. It was perfect to me.

  • It explains very clearly in the description that he dubbed it with the original broadway cast.

  • @scnfc- you didnt even spell piece right -___-

  • @scnfc: Sarah & Michael have "ugly" voices but not Gerard & Emmy? ROFLMAO!

  • @scnfc It was Lloyd Webbers own wife Sarah Brightman that fist played Christine and it is she who sings in this very piece of music. Maybe you should do some research before you state an opinion.

  • i got goose bumps!!!!!! thank you!!!

  • I thank you so much. I did enjoy the movie but, Michael is so haunting. He is the phantom!

  • I really dont like micheal Crawfords voice..... to high I geuss for a tenor..... and its TO phantom... just because he acts like a ghost doesnt mean he is..... so thats my oppinian

  • BOO your opinion ha look a pun!

  • i hate michael crawford compared to Gerard butler

  • amazingg

  • i think that Gerard is a better singer and a betta phantom

andd michael voiice is too high

but gerard can hit high notes too soar in music of the night and all of no one would listen

  • Comment removed

  • I love phantom of the opera im a nerd i went to go see it on broadway

  • Me too.

  • It is AMAZING on broadway... overwhelming... I cried!! lol

  • "Andre, we're ruined! this is madness!"

    "madness? this is SPARTAAAA!!!!!!!!"

  • @algernonfrenchhorn great one:DD almost gott a heart attack reading this ur commen jeez:DD:D

  • that's not emmy or gerard. :(

  • Very astute

  • thanks

  • lol its michael n sarah. the original phantom audio. ;)

  • really now?

  • EMMY ROSSUM IS SINGING!!!!!!

  • Dude, that's Sarah Brightman. Emmy Rossum sounds nothing like that.

  • if only there was a play/movie of POTO with Gerard Butler and Sarah Brightman! :D

  • Emmy Rossum has been trained in Opera since she was a little girl. She was chosen for the part because she controls her vabrato more and is a purer tone, thus contrasting better with Carlotta. I'm not a fan of what you've done to the movie. I quite enjoyed the cast in the movie over Brightman and Crawford.

  • I watched the making of the Phantom and the director Joel Shumacher said he wanted only actors and actresses who would do their own singing. Gerard B. said he never worked so hard in his life to do this role - acting and singing. Watch the movie on BlueRay - it'll knock your socks off!

  • wow... seriously??? I guess it's your opinions..but Sarah Brightman has much more of an opera voice...Emmy Rossum can sing...but not opera-like to me. Sarah Brightman is freaking amazing. Her voice is much more fitting for an opera singer..and I wish it was in the movie instead of Emmy Rossum's voice. Thank you phantomofopera91; great job on the dubbing!! :)

  • srah brightman wins! if only her and gerard would sing this together <3

  • Whos singing?? Its not Emmy Rossum! Is it Sarah Brightman??.. Wtf..

  • yes??.. wtf..

  • no I take that back, the woman is not ok she is lacking all feeling and interpitation like when she says ,,when will the flames consume us?" that has no feeling at all

  • oh dear god! this is a disaster!...even though Michael is a better singer than Gerard his voice in no way suits the phantom, Gerard has this raw hard voice that is just perfect for the part and I think it's a huge mistake to cut in this unfitting voice, and for Christine's voice that woman is ok but I like Emmy better!

  • Um... No Gerard has no Voice! He should be locked up and never ever EVER be allowed to sing again! My ears are still hurting!

  • you should be locked up and never be let to listen to music again if that's your opinion!

  • ..okay....just wondering if anyone ever noticed that b4 his mask is off...his hair is black... then its blond....his hair was all nice and neat and then it was like POOF! it got messed up...i love phantom, i would have went to him..i think raoul killed christine...wht do you think?:):P

  • The Phantom's "neat" black hair is actually a wig. Its like that in the stage version to. When Christine takes off the mask she also takes off the wig, revealing the phantoms wispy real hair!

  • I'm sorry, but.. Michael's voice is just too... high and clean for my taste as the part of the phantom. Gerard brought rough and edgy and power to it. Granted Michael has a power source behind his voice, but Gerard just makes me shiver...

  • just because you were only a fan of the movie doesnt make you stupid.

she(or he, i don't know this person personally) dubbed the voices.

the dubbed voices are very strong and wonderful.

I like emmy and gerard's voices too. both voices are good, they all have different types of voices, so get over it.

    and.

I WISH SHE PICKED THE PHANTOM D= lol

  • INORITE?!

  • Sorry but Emmy is not okey, is best ever.

Gerard isnt excelent singer, but good. He is true man with full true emotion.

Michael singing song, Gerard is The Phantom. You understand?

    ps. Sarah? sorry...only technical sing.

  • Only technically can sing? Sarah Brightman has one of the worlds most powerful voices and is the best selling soprano of all time!

  • Honestly, Andrew Llyod Webber was right there telling the director who he wanted. They all sang infront of Andrew and if Andrew FELT that they weren't good enough to sing in the movie, he wouldn't have made them do it. Also, Andrew clearly states that he wanted AN UNKNOWN person. At the time Gerard was unknown. He also wanted someone with a hard edge to his voice and a hard rock feel/vibe. Plus you can't compare theater to movie. Never the same always different.

  • @jaskie86 what is amazing is that at the Phantom 25th Anniversary concert there was not a mention of the film or anyone who was in it. I think Andrew wishes the film would just go away.
