  • That Michele Phan lady knows good music. If you guys want to here a song that matches the sexiness of this, listen to Superheroes by Esthero.

  • Doesn't Eros mean erect Penis in Greek

  • @hohohee1 no, it doesn't. eros means love with has to do with the physical attraction.

  • @fayhere91 eros is the ancient greek god of love, the equivelent of acient rome's cupid

  • @richboyk i was talking about what it means in modern greek. I know that Eros was the ancient Greece's cupid, the son of Afrodite.

  • Aural sex.

  • this song reminds me of Cleopatra.

    ^^

  • beautiful......intricate.......poetic

  • im sorry but i thing the singer of lna ist becky jean williams and not michelle phan

    or ?

  • @kutchieMik lol that's how I was introduced to them too!

  • @gamenick923 Yes. The Lyrics were inspired by an essay on Eros from "The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis.

  • i love how no one knows who they are and who produced them.

  • Omg I loveeee this band. Like LOVE. Whenever I want to relax, I always put on her songs :).

  • @Lanyx12

Michelle Phan is an incredible makeup artist. She has a channel here on YouTube and most of her videos has Late Night Alumni's songs playing in the background :)

  • Eros = greek god of love other name is qupid

  • @10WhiteWolf10 cupid xD

  • thanks michelle!!

  • @BigInka123 eros is accually a greek god. the god of love, also known as "cupid"

  • thumbs up if you knew this song before michelle phan

  • @2511aqua who the fk is Michelle Phan?

  • @2511aqua who the hell is michelle phan?

  • @2511aqua forgive me for my insolence, but who's michelle phan?

  • @ashwins1982 she's the #1 make-up guru on youtube, who featured a lot of LNA songs in her videos since she's a huge fan.

  • this is hands down my favorite track from the Empty Streets album, next to Meant to Be

  • This song is so... calming, I wish I could listen to this forever while sitting in a hot spring.

Though this might sound weird, but this song also kinda creeps me out a bit O.O

  • I really don't know why - but this song is extremely spiritual, sexual.. and veeery relieving. <3 Thank god Michelle used this music in her videos, haha.

  • @BigInka123 Eros was the love god of Greek mythology. It does mean love, espically if you look at the stories about Eros and Pysch, which that means "love and soul".

  • @BigInka123 Eros means "desire"

  • This song is disgusting.

Well you know how Eros is the god of sexual love? Well they talk about sex in this song! "Building" a house upon Eros is referring to making Eros horny and giving him an erection (i.e. "erect" a house). The house being his penis. And the house is built or "erected" upon the sands of Eros, which is most likely his pubic hair, if it is blonde or fair coloured.

Then the next part "Can I do what Eros does?" means she wants to get horny as well, when Eros is gone or dead.

  • @topshite "What he does for us, he does for us" is get an erection so they can sit on it. And when he's gone they still want their sexual love and fantasies to hang around. They ask for him to be brought back because he's the best they've had. She sings about their house built upon him, again talking about his erection.

Their wavering haven is about their uterus walls breaking down for their period, also referenced in "And walls all beg to be abandoned".

  • @topshite The walls beg to be abandoned because they haven't had an egg implanted in them. "The raven calls" is about how moody and angry a girl gets during her period and how her lover and her want to forget those hard times so her shouts and wails, or "melodies", want to be forgotten. She tells us to blame Eros because he hasn't gotten her pregnant yet.

"I loved the way it was" - Eros has left, or has changed and she misses their old sexual adventures. "What he's done" - She's a wreck now.

  • @topshite And then she ends with telling us to blame Eros again. She clearly has issues with him.

  • @topshite nahh i think you just got a sick mind, lol

  • @topshite sorry but you're an idiot. thats not what they meant at all. They meant build a house upon as in a relationship based on sex you moron.

  • @topshite You're taking this song WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to seriously. Im 100% sure this is about basing a relationship about sex and when it's gone then everything else in the relationship falls apart. But believe what you want.

  • I found Becky Jean Williams thks to Kaskade.

  • Bed

  • I asked Becky about this song, and it's meaning and she said it had something to do with CS Lewis's books or something.. I wish I could remember exactly what she had said.

  • @gamenick923 It might be the book "The Four Loves". One of the four loves he describes is Eros.

  • @PuraLahLahVida YES exactly! I haven't read them, obviously lol...

  • whats the name of the singer??? just to make sure cuz someone told me it was michelle phan??

  • @Dazzledbystarlit Becky Jean Williams is the LNA singer. People need to thank Late Night Alumni for making this music. Not Michelle Phan.

  • @BritainBrooke27 People also need to thank Michelle Phan. Without her, I wouldn't even know about them. Same with probably half their current fans.

  • @m2mfan4eva I wouldn't be if it wasn't for her

  • @Dazzledbystarlit No, it wasn't Michelle Phan; she's just a makeup artist who likes this band.

  • Hm...I was under the impression that Eros actually means Cupid. Anyway, I love the song so much!

  • @ingridfun actually... eros is the greek version of the roman "cupid" :) (or maybe it's the other way around.. :/ )

  • @bokstav4 Yea, I was pretty much positive that is what Eros actually means.

  • eros = it's a greek word and it means love :)

Eros prays we build our house upon him.

Sees how well it stands, how long we last

Built upon the sand, on the idol Eros.

  • Thanks for the lyrics! r rock!

  • So when he's gone can I do what Eros does? What he does for us, he does for us. And when he's gone can it be the way it was? Bring him back to us. Is he all we've got Our house built upon? On the idol Eros? When our haven wavers in the wind And walls all beg to be abandoned, Blame the idol Eros. When the raven calls and all his melodies All long to be forgotten, Blame the idol Eros.
  • What's left to say but I loved the way it was?

..Cause I said I would, I've done all I could.

See what he's done to us?

    Oh the idol Eros.

When our haven wavers in the wind

And walls all beg to be abandoned,

When the raven calls and all his melodies

    All long to be forgotten,

    Blame the idol Eros.

  • see lyrics above!

  • @Candice45 Thanks for the lyrics Candice!!!

  • Sweeeeeeet I love Late Night Alumni :)

  • I agree with what msharpe7 said about the song. It sounds like in this song, she sings about how people build relationships (houses) upon Eros (greek personification of sex and lust) and when "he" is gone from the relationship, What's left? Nothing. You're stuck with someone you have nothing in common with. It was all built on infirm foundations (sand).

I think this is a gorgeous song worthy of some kind of reward. Long live Late Night Alumni!

  • @deathtoyouall Eros must be accompanied by Agape, the transcending factor beyond the corporal reality of our human existence. Eros instigates the initial attraction simply because we are corporal beings subject to the lure of the flesh, but agape perfects it through its metaphysical properties, namely love. Love involves both physical attraction as well as metaphysical and transcending properties. The two should not be separated. A house built strictly on Eros will indeed fall.

  • @M47W3R6C12 Yes! You're talking about true love! I'm glad somebody gets it. Thank you :)

  • @M47W3R6C12 Astute observation. Love indeed is also an introductory factor, as well as a sort of gateway to experiencing intense emotions that would not be normally thought of, or automatically considered. Yet through trials and tribulations, after one has experienced such intensity, in most cases, would render one not regretting, and empowering the phrase "better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all." Just my two cents :]

  • @MARSKEE I believe love itself constitutes the human person. I also believe that emotions pour out of love, or lack thereof for that matter. Every human being is capable of receiving and giving love. Ultimately, we are all directed towards love. Some, however, choose otherwise. But you are absolutely right – it is best to experience love or loss, joy or pain etc. than nothing at all because they all contribute to the mystery and dignity of human person. Ultimately, love is a mystery to be lived
