How come NOONE knows the translations? I can make out some words, but would like to know what they mean in the Sauk Fox dialects.... some words we use (ojibwe/chippewa) but vary from one area to another.
We Meskwakis do not make our sacred songs public. This is a peyote song, however, and they can be heard outside their ceremonies. Peyote is an adopted religion. I do like the words and I believe in prayer, so it is good to hear.
Oh how I LOVE this prayer song...my boyfriend is Sac n Fox and I'm Black...when I listen to this I get chills!!! I LOVE YOU DANIEL forever for always no matter what baby I'll always have your back....TRUST
i love that song, it is so soothing and healing, makes me thankful for heritage to be so blessed with what the Creator gave us, thank you for your voices!
...My day just wouldn't be right if i didn't listen to Brian Stoner, this is one of his best ever, the harmonizing is second to none!! I am a member of the Native American Church and will be for the rest of my life!! Greetings to y'all from the great Lakota Nation!! Peace & Blessings to all my brothers & sisters in the N.A.C.- Aho!!
Wow this is really beautiful...I never heard this kind of song thats full of harmony I think I mite cry or fall asleep haha so nice with all the smooth voices even though i don't understand..hahaha I'm a Navajo so this jus sounds nice..it would b nice if some1 cud explain what these songs mean.
ho niikaan niina keenesiiseki kiikaapoa, im kickapoo from kansas and we also think of the meskwakiak and the othaakiak as our brothers 2, kechi menwikenwi
after listening again..the words go....ke ma ma do me na be na..in the first word...instead of the ki....it changes the time frame of the praying..whereas when they say....ki ma ma do me na be na...its like they are going to pray to him..but when they say....ke ma ma do me na be na....its a now syllable..where hes sayin ...we are praying now to you.....sorry bout the...first translation...had to make it right.......
The words to this mean....ki ma ma do me na be na( we pray to you) ke chi ma ne do(great spirit).........all at once...WE PRAY TO YOU GREAT SPIRIT...whoever is singing this song has a grasp of Meskwaki, he forms his words perfectly.....na ha do wa.....oo ya i gwa ni

Brian Stoner does justice to this song and all the other songs he sings. Could be a Sauk, Cree, Meskwaki. song. Just has a different tune is all. Either way . Its a good song....
@Crystalcarrie I like that, I'm ojibwe, also a algonqain speaking indians, anishinabe is what we say, its our only word for human beings, but they say native. My uncle donny, fluint in ojibwe, and he translated ojibwe with help of peyotey and he said that the word leaf, and water is in the word anishinabe, and also man, that a leaf comes from the mother earth, and is grown through water, So ndn's did kno biology, we all come from motherearth, and grow with water.
i believe this tune is not sac fox..correct me if im wrong i think its more cree then sac fox...Notice sum ppl have mix it up a bit just to be singing such a song...Jus listen to the song u well knw what im sayn or the words mean...Jus a tho,..no im no expert singers dnt get on yr high horse yet..
what does the song mean in the words. I'm Ojibwe-Anishinaabe and can recognize a few words. Of course the Creator/Spirit I understand, the other verses before I couldn`t make out...
Like a rain of peace ....my blessings & grace ....transends all walls...spirited to the enduring love of GOD....makes me beam....I radiate...sunshine be with us....love and peace ....BE BLESSED
thank you guys LULULULULU touch my heart in our time of need ... Altho we are abroad our church songs keep us close in heart and spirit so thank you for sharing these songs Aho!
thank you creator for eternal life. may we sing, dance, and stand up for our sovereign nation communities and First Peoples and change the crappy slang names of AFN and NCIA to include the most respectable term "First Peoples" in our organizational names and not use them negative slangs words no mo
P -- Thanks so much for posting all these beautiful songs--I get lonely for NAC and family and friends and these songs touch me deeply. I pray that you find peace and good memories for loved ones gone on ahead, and much joy in family and friends still close...may our prayers rise up and always live...
@soxmonki Greetings from Marshalltown, IA...I work at the Meskwaki casino close to Tama. I am not Meskwaki myself, but have met many wonderful people who are Meskwaki...and I am fascinated by your history, culture, etc. So when I saw the title of this video, I had to take a listen. :-) And it's very beautiful. I love the close harmonies. :-)
@druidkat7 Yep it is beautiful - I listen to this when I need to get grounded - and Meskwaki gives you insight into 1/3 of the 3 nations that were once one (as our elders pass down) - that covered Iowa, Illinois, into Michigan, Wisconsin and into CN. The other 2 (sadly) were removed but are still in touch with us (Sac and Kickapoo).
Sac and Fox, Kickapoo, did live in Wisconsin area but moved because of American Indian replacement act. Ojibwe have a close words. oh yeah i'm ojibwe and NAC member
sac fox, meskwaki, and kickapaoo are the most closley related. we all lived in the wisconsin, minnesota, michiagan, iowa illinois, indiana ya know around that area
The Sac and Fox are still a great tribe just like the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. You may be surprised that we still have those houses made out of cattails
