I don't give a damn if I can detect a radar signal overseas if I don't know where the hell it's coming from. Situational awareness. So what you'd have to do is ask a friendly cop what would happen if you're speeding (and they can tell by the pace) and a laser jammer is enabled.

@TheOnlyGodfather Love your car, E55 rocks!!! Particularly if modded with pulley and tune!! Anyway, the V1 is NOT Spectre stealthy and can be easily picked up in those states where they use Spectre. A V1 can be made stealthy by using the remote display that lets NO one see the lights other than you. Cost is about $40 bucks on V1s site. They'll never know you're running ECMs.

Nice, but it's not a stealth setup. Stealth means invisible, but in you case every cop who knows how a V1 looks like, will notice it immediately. So, don't try this setup in areas where radar detectors are illegal. :-)

i used my GPS a couple months ago to measure how much time I saved driving aggressively and fast for one week, and the next week I drove the speed limit and drove passively, let people in, etc.

The GPS calculated that the time I saved for an entire week was one minute and 33 seconds TOTAL.

We're throwing money away to speed, because we don't gain anything. Ever noticed how you always end up at the same light as the cars you blew past a mile back ?  I just enjoy the drive now ;)

@firehype2 Has to be in the widow. Anywhere else the car will interfere with the signal reading. If if its at the very bottom the dash will still mess things up. Thats why most videos yo use the Radar detector is 1/3 to 1/2 up the windshield.

Nice set up. That BCT 12 Scanner was good in the 90s because it would alert you to State Police ( within 3 miles ) of their location ( when their police radio are transmitting or receiving signal ). Now they have all switch to a different digital frequency ( you can still hear them talk ) that wont trigger your BCT alerts :( (Sold my 4 yrs ago ( Still good to hear CB radio )

@stalkervision That's absolutely true, but that's more meant for people behind you who see your radar detector lights at night and post up behind you to use your radar detector. Having the display in front of you and out of sight, nobody will know.

But the primary issue with me, is if the V1 goes off, I don't have to take my eyes off the road and up to the V1 on the windshield, I can just see it right there on my dash and keep my eyes on the road.

@roleup E55 AMG goes up to 2005, I was in a friend's S500 which is 2006 I didn't like the interior as much as the BMW 5-series of 2005. The interior of the 2005 is the same as the 5-series to 2010. Mercedes has a new interior at 2009 I havn't been in one from 2007-2008 though. The car can do 170mph but I don't think I would change my opinion of the car.

Kinda dumb to have such a thin device and sit it top dead center in the front. I would put it right were the steering column meets the dash or off to the right on the bottom. It looks like it would block the speedo at the top. Nice detector thought.
